Living with an estate car. Boring or exciting? - Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI Quattro long term review

  • In February this year, I sold my BMW and bought an Audi A6 Avant to replace it. Since then, it's been a proper workhorse of a car, but certainly not without its faults. In this video, I give an account of my experience with the car during my time owning it, and also what's to come for the future.
I hope you enjoy this episode. Please leave a like, comment and subscribe if you do!

I have had mine for 5 years now from brand new with the lease just expiring. Had the option to step into another new model / car and decided to keep her…. Absolutely brilliant! Still after 5 years and a stage 2 tune, without fault. Not an entirely perfect car, however when you test drive new, comparative cars and feel so much better after you sit back inside your existing drive, you know it’s something special…

Rough gear changes at low speeds can happen when you remap. Happened to my 335d too. Driving in sport mode at low speeds was like driving a kangaroo.

I have almost the same car like you, same engine, options,...
The Climate control (also dual zone) should give light at night.
The airco looks like it is not cooling as hard if you think, but the truth is on my trip to Croatia it has no issue cooling the car at all.
I also had the same problem with the coolant leakage.
But also some extra problems .. Timing chain rattle (tensioner was broken)... , S-tronic mechatronic repaired (luckily warranty) , and now I notice some leakage at the rear shocks.
Unfortunately (for the price) i have air suspension so I just ordered new one's for 650 euro.
About the engine response delay, i also think it can be better sometimes, but it is not so bad. If i'm in race mode i use the shiftpeddals on the steering wheel.
The engine response faster on the throttle when you are in manual mode. (mine is also tuned to 300hp, 630nm)
The Audi Sound System is not so great, it sounded to me like crap in comparing with my Volvo v60 (which have mush lower specs on paper).
I replaced every speaker, add extra amps, DSP, compact subwoofer in trunk (the flat pioneer one to reduce loss of space).
It sounds mush much better now...
About the start-stop function, you can easily disable this function with VCDS (it will stay off when press the button).

Hi Tom. Can I pick your brain for a second?
    I live in the US.
Audi only sold the 3.0 Tdi motor from 2009-2015 or something like that. I'm seriously considering purchasing a A8 with the 3.0 specifically for the fuel mileage while also being a ludicrously depreciated luxury car. The UK has alot more of these motors than we here in the US, do you know of any glaring issue with that motor? I've never owned a diesel before and am a little nervous about all the emissions equipment going haywire like they have in cars and trucks from the past.
Also hope you're enjoying the GR Yaris! Wish we got them in the states

This is my weekend toy (2014 A6 prestige)….my 2012 Touareg TDI is my dd. If I had to live without one …. It would be the A6 that I would part with (reluctantly)…. …..I like abusing the suv on and off-road 😅…and it’s easier for DYI maintenance. Previous owner took this car to three shops to fix the “coolant” issue, cost $3k at an independent to finally sort it out, they promptly traded it at Lexus, and I snatched it immediately.

Don’t think this is the torque converter version only the bitdi is, this is a 7 speed dsg that’s why it’s jerky around town.

I own an A6 c7.5 3.0tdi dsg quattro. And I love it. It’s my 2nd. And yes it only weighs around 1725 kg ,not 2.4 ya dafty. As for the Yaris gr? I’ve driven a couple as I work in car transport and like me, you will be sorely disappointed. Don’t do it. It’s all sheep and very little wolf. Lacklustre at best. Too much cash for something so shite.

    • @ESKATEUK
      @ESKATEUK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

All sheep and little wolf? The GR Yaris is renowned for being an absolutely fantastic hot hatch. 260+ bhp in such a small car with 4WD and launch control. Does 0-60 in about 5 seconds. Managed to beat an e46 m3 in a straight line. Plenty of wolf in them little cars

I had A7 ( same engine ) had a coolant leak at 220 thousand km, it was the engine oil cooler leaking ( mix oil & coolant ), this happens standard for this engine after long search

So here is my advice: if you have 3.0TDI ( 2010-2018 )
You BETER change your engine oil cooler before 200 thousand km to avoid bigger invoice from the mechanics 😊
