    I can't believe what I heard you say about the split tail gate that Ram offers. It's obvious that you never had to reach over a tail gate that was open to get heavy or light objects. Also loading like 50 lb. feed bags into the bed, you don't have that tail gate from keeping you to get to the bed. Also we have lift trucks putting pallets in the back without the tail gate in the way. I think you should rethink your evaluation of how useful that tail gate REALLY is. As far as your comment on that "Big Split" that you see where they split the tail gate, well, there is a lot of "Big Splits" around all the doors and the hood too! I can honestly say that I use the "Big Split" tail gate more then I use the tail gate laying down. I can say that I've used the tail gate several times laying down when I need a longer bed for longer items with the Cargo gate, which is a nice safety feature. I'd hate to hear how much you don't like the RAM BOX also, since it sounds like you're not the type of person who really has to work with a pick-up. I don't know how we ever got along with out them before. They keep the back of the cab clear of all the tools and straps and etc.

    Great video. I would like to add as a truck owner for 30 years that the barn door tailgate is useful for reaching things in the bed. The tailgate is often in the way especially when loading or unloading heavy bags of mulch or concrete. Plus if you have a cover it gives you a couple extra feet of access.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I can see that point. But it only lets you reach another 18in or so, still have 4ft of bed you won't reach.. The GM tailgate offers so many more functions including being able to reach another 10in inside the bed. So it's just a minuscule benefit with the barn door. Gm offers a ton of benefits with their design

    With the split tailgate you can load it with a forklift and get the product over the axel.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that sounds good, but how often will an owner be doing that? Larger forklifts could definitely reach so that’s a factor as well.

    Nice video. One thing I did notice, with it being a Laramie, they’re supposed to have fender flares. The last several years it was the Laramie, Longhorn and Limited that came with fender flares. I guess now it’s only the Longhorn and Limited. I also believe in previous years, from the Laramie trim level and up you also got a spray in bed liner. I see things missing yet the price still goes up. That truck is more than my fully loaded 2020 Longhorn.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah seems like they changed a few things from the previous years. Spray liner could be a dealer installed thing to in some cases. Prices are going up these days!

      I just bought the 23 Laramie Sport 4x4. No more factory flares, bed lights, or bed liner. My salesman said this is the last year to get a 5.7 hemi in anything without e-torque. Honestly most people are financing a vehicle. I would rather purchase those things out right than finance them anyway. This is my third ram. Had an o6, 15, and now a 23 year model. All of rhem are amazing. The 2023 is a really really nice truck. I pull a trailer 5 - 6 days a week and the e-rorque is an advanrage. I love my new truck.

    Wow prices have really gone way up. $65k MSRP for my 2021 Laramie: Night Edition | 33gal Tank | Lvl B Equip Grp | Bed Utility Grp | Panoramic Sunroof | Power running boards | Uconnect 12" Nav | Trailer Brake Controller | Rear wheel well liner. From what I can see, no more fender flares, no under seat hooks, no storage in the rear seat arm rest/cup holder. And I guess the Laramie doesn't come with the digital gauge cluster either.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Building a Laramie on their site the digital dash is a $450 upgrade or standard with GT package. Like mentioned already they removed the fender flares on the Laramie glad I purchased my 22' Laramie NE hemi no etorque last February

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool to see that screen available for not to much more. How do you like that engine vs the torque?

    • @phippy6227
      @phippy6227 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Previous Ram was a 2020 Laramie lease with 3.21 gears etorque built my 22' with 3.92 no etorque much prefer the later. With the 3.92 makes up the low end torque that the etorque provides with the 3.21 that never have to deal with turning start/stop function.

    Man. Picking a truck is hard. I really want one of these, but I’m forced into getting the 19 speaker H/K system that I don’t want for some added and very necessary safety features. Yeah I could disable them and whatnot, but the domes themselves also look ugly. *Love* the look of Rams though, plus I love the air ride suspension. Other one I’m eyeing is the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. All of my mechanic friends say it has a better and more reliable engine (though I think it’s incremental), a better speaker setup for the modding I want to do, and it’s a few grand cheaper. Decisions decisions!

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get a less expensive trim level if you don’t want those features and are going to do parts afterwards! I’ve been in a lot of Chevys and starting to like them over the rams, but both good options depending on what will work for you!

  • @Ryanrock2
    @Ryanrock2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Your totally wrong about the Ram split tailgate. When split, i can stand next to the bumper and reach about 5-6 feet into the bed So easy reaching into the bed this way.. Can't do that with the tailgate laid down. It folds down the regular way also. One side is about 2 ft wide, the lager side about 3 I really find the split tailgate very useful.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow you have a long arm to reach 5 feet into the bed 🤣 my brother has a truck and he’s never said, “man I wish the tailgate was out of the way”. To him it’s not a big deal, I could see it being helpful but not the best look having a gap right down the middle in my opinion.
