    Just want to say thank you for posting this including the boat ride. I've been a woodworker and finish carpenter for 30 years and love your channel and mindset. I had to stop working due to stage 4 cancer in 2020, but I've been thru chemo and immunotherapy and am on the mend. Something about that ride in the water out in nature, and the woods makes me long to be away from the city and the hustle. Much gratitude for sharing this. I miss using my hands every day making stuff, the sound of a block plane over the wood, the smell of freshly cut cedar, the grain pop when the oil reveals it, the crunch sound when my chisel goes across the grain, and the slicing sound when it goes with it... That water though, soothed my pain for a moment. Keep up the good work. You are reaching people in ways you may not have imagined.

    Seeing you standing atop your mountain, 2 things came to mind, 1) waiting for my ship to come in and 2) looking for the fog of war ( a line from a Navy Seal movie). I really like your goofy antics and the love you show for your family. What I like most, you are fearless, in that I mean, you seem to boldly step into the unknown. I do the same thing, but you film it.

    Just a tip. Float the ramp side more and trim the floats with sand to level it. Also, drill through the middle and place a 1” galvanized threaded rod from side to side. Use it to tension the dock structure against flexing. This will greatly improve the longevity of the structural part of the dock. Maybe do one on each end and one in the middle. Tighten them yearly to account for shrink, etc.

    Egyptians probably get more credit because the stuff attributed to them (the pyramids) couldn't possibly have had the blocks move around in that way. So they've had something impossible attributed to them. Hard not to seem amazing when no one knows what technology was used to make something we couldn't reproduce today.

    I think you should be able to "troll" for the buoys on your lost anchors. Maybe a line with a metal "V" in the middle (the line stretched between two boats) that could catch the sunken rope and then you could haul it back up and attach a bigger buoy. That way you wouldn't have to dive for anything. Shouldn't be too hard since you know the general location already.

    • @jonnenne
      @jonnenne 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How does the "v" remain attached the whole way?

    This is usually a phrase attributed to Mark Twain that allegedly said that English is the language you use to write a song, German is the language you use to train a horse, Italian is the language you use to pick up a girl and Dutch it's a vocal cords disease 🤣

    By the terrain, looks like you're in Washington. Seems that they would have a code for wood being next to water. I know that if I built a wood deck in Oregon, anything closer than 32" to the grade, all underpinning has to be certified Pressure Treated. Anything like that when built as a dock? Just curious. I know it's different everywhere. My Family is from Mississippi and they don't have to have a foundation whereas in Oregon we have those expensive Building Codes but honestly they are there to protect the builder, homeowner and the one that may purchase the home in the future. Just curious!

    I believe you're going to need more floatation under the end the ramp rests on. More buoyancy to offset the weight of the ramp. Either that or more ballast at the other end.
