- First time fishing for calico bass in Santa Monica Bay for Cobi Pellerito! Only his 2nd time ever on a boat out on the Pacific Ocean targeting a species high on his bucket list. The bite started in the dark for us and they continued to slam the Megabass Hardbaits as the sun came up.
The Megabass Kanata, Or Poi Stick Bait, X-140 saltwater jerkbait and the Trigya Pencil were all producing calicos (also known as Kelp Bass). Fun times, part 2 from this action filled day to come.

Last year I picked out a backlash and fired a cast to the middle of the cove off of the point I was set up on... and my 2nd biggest large mouth, a 9lbs 2oz whale smoked my spinner bait as soon as it hit the water. The fact that it was a halfhearted cast just trying clean up my reel made the strike so much better! I assume it was a similar feeling to that top water tuna you got slammed by right at the boat Ollie. Epic adrenaline rush... THAT is why fishing is DOPE!! Another awesome video by the way. Great job bud.
Will fishing is dope because it helps me deal with the effect of PTSD from war. Fishing is the best I have to say.
