- Bishop Scott Jones gave a powerful sermon at the very first annual conference of the Global Methodist Church in North Georgia, where 63 people were ordained by the church. He talked about how important it is to listen to the Holy Spirit's guidance. He used the story of Paul from the Bible, who was led by God even when it wasn't what Paul planned. Bishop Jones shared his own story of learning to follow God's will instead of his own ideas. He stressed that being humble, focusing on God's mission, welcoming everyone, and being ready to make sacrifices are crucial for ministers. He encouraged all Christians to let the Holy Spirit lead them, which helps bring new life and energy to their faith and their work in the church.
I am an Independent Evangelical minister. While I do have some doctrinal differences with the GMC I not only enjoyed and appreciated the Bishop's message, but think that every Bible-Believing pastor and congregation should hear it. Well said, brother.
Amen. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Surrendering to the ministry of the Holy Spirit, is what help us to align our life with the plans and purpose of God.
Bishop Jones, thanks for blessing my life with this powerful message.
May God bless you!
Happy to be a part of Macland Community Church !!!
May God bless your church and ministry!
You're getting our praise and worship leader, Heather Patero! I'm, for the moment, still in a UMC. Our church in Tucker, LRUMC, is done. There's been no salvation message for years. They hate praise music and have embraced LGBTQ complete with a transgender kindergarten. She'll be quite a blessing to your church! Please pray the rest of us find a Bible believing church before ours is struck by lightning. Thank you.
@@gitfiddler716 I love Heather! That's great to hear!
I agree with most of what is said. God is inclusive, he even wants to see people 65 and older getting saved.
However, I really appreciate someone in the church expressing the opportunity cost and the leading of the Spirit. Too often we think we can do it all. We don't need to do it all, we need to follow the Holy Spirit like the bishop said,
Amen
I couldn't get through the first 30 seconds without seeing how much movement there was behind Bishop Jones. Now arguably we were all hyped for the ordination, but part of me also realizes that most of the clergy up there (I am on the right on the first row) aren't used to sitting through sermons, we are used to standing and delivering. 🙂 Still a great message.
Haha. I was much better at siting still before I was a preacher. Now for the last 25 years I find myself constantly needing to be active during a service--anticipating what's next, getting ready to change things on the fly. I think I've forgotten how to sit still.
Our church went congregational Methodist and it has been a wonderful experience so far. I do believe if we hadn't seen the formation of Global Methodist Church, many churches wouldn't have felt they had a pathway out of the failing UMC. I'm in deep prayer for all the Jesus followers and faithful Bible followers that are now appalled by the decline that will only get worse in the UMC . My heart breaks but just leave. Leave a church that has left you and find a westlyan church. Whether Global, Congregational, Weslyan... find a church true to God's word. This was a very good message. Thank you. ❤
Thanks for commenting. Glad you have found a new home where you can serve our Lord.
Looking forward to being a part of Asbury Global Methodist Church, Franklin, TN…..WOW! That sounds really great.
May the Lord bring a great revival!
I am leaving the UMC. A GMC is not in this area which would be where I would attend. The Bishop gave a great message!
Praying you find a church home where you can worship and serve with the Body of Christ.
Are there colleges where Methodist ministers can be trained in the philosophy ofJohn Wesley without being indoctrinated in the worldly wokeness that colleges are training up students in?
Yes. Asbury is a good choice. There are others too. The GMC is actively meeting with colleges to determine the best choices. We should have recommendations soon.
Asbury is pretty good. Keep a close eye on it though. They are currently switching presidents which can be scary. Plus there is always a group on campus wanting some form of wokeness.
Is this Norcross Methodist?
Yes
Look at all those gloomy dark robes. About as depressing as it gets.
