hi, i know its late to ask but have you had a hard time straightening the feet so its straight? I'm yet to receive my bars but my feets are kind of angled upward due to the shape of the room and gutter and I'm worried the bars won't slide through nicely as the feet are angled upwards unless i substantially bend the bar in the middle then maybe
I think these are rated for 165lbs so I'm guessing a set of two (four bars total) would be needed to support a roof top tent. That being said, I think these were discontinued. Thule no longer shows them on their website. I emailed Thule to confirm but they didn't response. I think they have low staff due to covid.
We have the same vehicle but it doesn't have the factory roof rails. I have been using square bar Thule racks since the 1980s and have a 387 gutter high foot pack. When I tried the feet on the truck the bottom of the rack was so much higher than the roof I didn't want to use them. I think I'll get a set of the shorter 300 feet. What are your thoughts?
They do sit pretty high off the roof. I haven't tried the shorter feet although I did see them when I got the high feet. You might be able to find them at a local outfitter that will let you try them before you buy. On a similar topic, it looks like Thule no longer makes the 387. I emailed them to clarify but haven't received a response. I'm not sure they have an "official" gutter mount option for the 80 series Land Cruiser as their search doesn't come up with anything. If you try the short feet and they work, please let me know so I can drop a note in the description. Good luck!
The outer bracket has a hook on the end that goes on the outside of the gutter. The inner bracket goes on the inside of the the gutter. When you tighten the knob, the inner and outer brackets are clamped together with the gutter in between them.
@@venicegordon5272 Oops. Sorry, I misread your question. The inner bracket is two pieces and is fashioned similar to pliers. When you tighten the knob, it squeezes on them and clamps the bar. You can see the silver pivot on the side of the bracket.
Showing how you attach the load bar sure would have been helpful.

How well do these grip the gutter? Do you have any issues with them moving or can you basically grab the rack and shake your whole vehicle with them?
They are very secure. I still like to give this and any other rack I am using a shake test on occasion like after loading it or when stopping for gas.
Would you feel comfortable putting a roof top tent on the rack? Like it's is sturdy enough?

Are you selling your Thule 387 gutter foot pack? I can not find them anywhere.
Unfortunately no. I did email Thule to ask them what is going one. It might take a few days for them to reply.

How is the bar attached securely to the gutter mount? Thanks

RickMakes thanks for the reply. That part I understand. I’m wondering how the bar prevents from sliding within the mounts.
