I thought this was something new but an agent is just a Jenkins slave. So instead of Master/Slave as Jenkins has always been termed, the language has changed to Controller/Agent for the same paradigm. When did the language change in Jenkins for this?

Hi Darin, I want to thank you for Jenkin related youtube videos. Those helped me a lot in setting up Jenkin for performance testing process automation. I am curious about how the java agent is implemented and what kind of implementation is needed (like master-slave etc.) if I want to achieve the same using a python programming language. In case you have any info or document to refer then it will help me :)

So, what is a Jenkins Agent? Is it another Jenkins instance? Or is it a machine or container which the Jenkins Controller will connect to via e.g. ssh and execute maybe shell commands to execute some logic?

It's master/slave in a politically correct version, suited for the woke community, who thinks that master/slave in computer science is unacceptable terminology. Sad people.
