Interesting crew conversation starting at 24:02 to 24:14... If Phil Anschutz (who owned the Rio Grande, which bought control of the SP in 1988) had his way, 4449 would become a PR tool akin to the UP steamers... If only they had the chance to do those big trips they talked about...
A 1994 trip to Utah and Colorado for the 125th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad was proposed, but fell through due to SP's financial crisis of the time.
Lovey footage of the two girls. Oh what we railfans would give to see a run like this today. Also, what we would give to see gas prices like at the 15:30 mark again!
It sounded a little too high pitched to sound like a regular Illinois Central 3 Chime, yet it did sound awesome back then. The 6 chime the 4449 had sounded twice as awesome as the 3 chime.
What a lousy oil can. But it had to be done, since the Daylight was runnning low on water, a diesel engine had to assist on taking the train through Tehachapi Loop.
@@kevinsweeney2810 Where else? CALIFORNIA! Anyways, what I meant by “state the obvious” is that some low-IQ-numbskulls post the comments saying things other people already know. In this case when FaBiO said “Sp 4449 going to Cajon pass” even though the 4449 went THROUGH Cajon Pass, not to Cajon Pass. Even though the video shows the 4449 in other locations besides Cajon Pass, this “user” has got to have something serious going on his end. Some kind of disability causing him to spam this nonsense. And don’t get me started with his “Pingu Sherman Peabody” BS.
14:11 14:10 Trainz SP #4449's 6 Chime Whistle V5 Fast Freight Productions
Shut it.
Gosh! I love her whistle at 14:00 ! I heard it was off a cab forward
That SP 6 Chime sounds like a Reading 6 Chime at higher pressure.
Max Medaglia I believe it's actually a 5 chime
Narwhal Gaming
Nope. Six chime.
Max Medaglia where did you hear that from??
Dominic Korzelius from the cab forward collection

Sorry, but I don’t think anyone knows why your family has to be relevant to what's happening in videos like this.
Stop mentioning your family names, Fabio!
Up 8444 está soprando o original whistle igual a voz do meu primo Júnior

Did you know the female voice on the defection detector at 8:46 was known, to Southern Pacific crews, as the "Dragon Lady"?

Sp 4449 going to Cajon pass
And UP 844(4) you don't have to state the obvious. In other words, you don’t have to keep posting the same stuff on every single video!
