- At a secret location in southwestern France, a young Ukrainian pilot kept a tight grip on the controls of an Alpha Jet trainer aircraft. The pilot - who was not allowed to speak to journalists - is a part of a 10-strong group of Ukrainians who have been undergoing accelerated six-month training in France using simulators and the twin-engined aircraft. Aged 21 to 23, the Ukrainians are undergoing the same training as French pilots but in half the time - learning how to navigate, target and shoot.

Western jets have pretty decent thermal and IR reduction coatings and glass. Same as russian.
However we have seen patriot systems acting like an iron dome, and yet russia could not stop american missles from 50 years ago
We haven't even seen something like the ironman backpack system or US laser weapons fully used yet

People need to know that training the pilot is the least of the worries. But training the ground team is essential! Without them, the jet is a death trap!

The fact that these pilots are young is a good thing. They don't bring with them the legacy Soviet training and tactics. This makes learning much simpler because they don't need to unlearn something they've spent their entire lives performing.

All pilots trained in the UK and France will complete their training in Romania on the F16, with the final destination being Ukraine

Depends where you're getting your intel, as the narrative has always been they'll have their first operational F-16s by summer 2024, which is broadly speaking, June to August. It's taken time to train ground crew, pilots and get the supply chain for parts and weapons in place. It's not like buying a new car and passing a driving test... they are coming.
@@luciussander8217 as far as my "intel", its actually been so frustrating to witness this process, to the point that I dont follow it as closely as I used to. the actions and statements of european politicians, their wishy washy actions, and back and forth on so many things has been very frustrating to witness....

That sounds quite nice but everything is a very little and quite late.
The west promised Ukraine western jets for the past year, and still nothing. Zero jets delivered and the pipeline for pilots is what... 10 maybe 20 pilots? Too little too late. Same BS with tanks, yeah Ukraine got tanks but again too little too late.

Those are american pilots....😂..there is no way ukranians can learn how to fly an f-16...in ..3..months....regular american takes what..2 years???
Wishing all the pilots good luck, though it's worth noting that Russian pilots are quite familiar with their aircraft and have a lot more advanced jets and probably have more dogfighting experience. But hey, good luck to all!

They learn to fly. They are on the basic training aircraft. After that, they will have to learn for another 1 year to fly on the F-16 fighter jet.
