  • You have passed the initial screening, phone interviews and finally get to the last round to present yourself to potential employers. Having been on the side as an interviewer a lot over the past few years, here are some common mistakes that you would want to avoid. Preparing for the portfolio presentations can get pretty stressful, and I hope this helps. (Bonus track at the end! ;)

    Stumble upon your channel today by random(or youtube algorithm brought me here😂) and I have to say I’m soo glad that I did! very insightful information. Looking forward to new videos! One thing that I would like to ask is that could you talk more about app critiques and design challenges? And what are the best ways to prepare for it. Thank you!

    "Help [your interviewer] onboard. As a UX designer, you've probably done this many times for your user." 👏👏👏
    What a fantastic way to frame it. You're spot on! I guess as UXers, we have all of these incredible tools and insights into the psychology of how people interact with our products, but we kinda forget to apply those same principles when we interact with people in the real world.

    HI Your video has been so helpful for me! I was asked to present my projects during the design peer interview, and also have an upcoming portfolio review. Am I allowed to present the same project again or present them in a different way or present them in more detail? The portfolio review is around 30 mins, Q&A included. Thank you sm!

    • @yobi321
      @yobi321  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ruilin, yes. Usually it is pretty common to share same projects at different detail level at interviews. It probably doesn’t hurt to check with the recruiter just to confirm and understand about expectations, for example how many projects they would like to see. Good luck for the interview!

    What are your thoughts on personal projects? I dont have a design degree and both of my projects i want to present are personal projects (where I did everything--from research to design--by myself). Because of that, they are not actually published/delivered & i didnt have any constraint regarding the actual development (front end back end stuff).
    Will presenting only personal projects look bad?

    • @yobi321
      @yobi321  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I think having some personal projects is perfectly fine for entry level designers. However, I'd encourage you to get at least one or two real project experience so it can put you at a better position in the job market.

    非常棒的视频,已经subscribe。可以请问一个问题吗?portfolio网站以外面试时候需要再准备powerpoint来进行presentation吗?

    • @yobi321
      @yobi321  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      通常建议准备一个单独面试用的presentation deck 不过每个公司的要求不同,可以问问recruiter

    My question is should I create slides or my website is enough

    • @yobi321
      @yobi321  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you have the time, I always recommend creating a deck. but feel free to check with the recruiter to understand the expectations as each company is different.
