I'd love to see a full on mock presentation video as an example of what it really looks like to present your research. Maybe even comparing a bad presentation to a good one would be helpful. These tips are definitely helpful but I would love to see what it looks like to really implement them!
Aona this is more than what I can ask for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making and sharing this video. I legit took notes from this because you dropped so many gems here. Grateful for what you do and wishing you the best as you continue to post content. Stay well!
It's all about the research rationale. Research approach is subjective, so the answer to the research problem needs to be self-rightous, to demonstrate the problem solving skills. If you are able to tell the interviewer the "why" of every step, and if you are able to convince the interviewer it's the right move, that is a successful story. However, ultimately the verdict is in the impact and actions taken by your stakeholders. No matter how logical and solid your research is, if no impact as a result of the research, it is not a successful story.
Loved this video Aona! Thank you for sharing, As Linda Weinman said (something like this) - The more you share information, the more you will benefit, and the more you will elevate you discipline and the people who practice in it. Aona, I hope your generosity and instruction come back to you 10 fold.
Hi Aona, your videos are so great for me. I am now preparing my first official job seeking. What you mentioned in this video about storytelling skills is really valuable. Not only the content you shared in your video but also your way to communicate these things, very impressive and structured. Hope you can continue to upload such videos and stay healthy!
Hi Aona! I've been watching your videos for a few months now and they've really helped me in my job search. I just got my first job offer following your advice! Appreciate your videos
I just found your channel and couldn't hit the subscribe button fast enough! I am new to UX, coming from a professional acting background. I absolutely LOVE the suggestions you share for creating a story for UX presentations. So many valuable tips within this 13 minute video, look forward to watching your other videos. Thanks!
This video was incredibly insightful in understanding what is of value to highlight for the interviewer/team and how to tell the story of my approach and process. It 100% influenced how I present case studies for interviews in addition to how I share research plans and findings with stakeholders. Thank you!!!
Hi! Thank you so much for making this video, I have a study case presentation to do tomorrow and you helped me so much with your tips now that I feel more confident! I wish you the best Aona
Thanks for this video! I resonate with your Airbnb story so much. This video encouraged me to take inventory on everything I don’t know and find the answers 😊 Thanks!
Hi Aona, Thanks a lot for taking your time to create these videos. I have used several tricks you mentioned and got past my first UXR screening. Hope that I will be able to crack the next step following the amazing staff you are sharing.
Thank you soooo much!! It helped me a loooooot. I'm not a native English speaker, spending my whole life in Korea, so I was really afraid of doing presentation for a company in United States. But now I have some courages to tell my projects story. Thx soooo much!
Awesome video Aona, thank you for sharing. I always tend to overdo the amount of text on slides. I'm still less than a year into my UX journey so I'm thankful there are people like you sharing such fantastic info with us. I only discovered your channel today via LinkedIn, will go back and watch your past videos as well :)
Some further video requests from me Aona.. :) 1. How do you grow as a UXR? What do you do to invest in your growth as far as skills are concerned? 2. How can UXRs add value and therefore increase their chances to grow? 3. How does one choose a sample size for a Quant and Qual research study? Most of your videos I have seen multiple times and made a ton of NOTES! So THANK YOU!
Aona, I liked your video. I have a request. Please make a follow up video to this video with you doing a presentation in the storytelling format that you've suggested and have your tips light up on the screen as you tell the story so users can pause, make note of your language and then incorporate it into their presentations. I wouldn't copy you verbatim but having a concrete example of you tying this together is so helpful to seeing the flow in action with your connections and transitions.
Hi Aona, this video is awesome! Thank you so much for making it. During my last job hunt period, I got some feedbacks that said my story/presentation during the whiteboarding challenge round was difficult to follow. Now I wish I had watched this video before that interview 😢 Anw, if you don't mind, can you also make a video about Research Plan storytelling tips? I notice that many UXR whiteboarding challenges are about making research plan and presenting it to interviewers. However, UX storytelling tips I found on the internet mostly talk about how to do better storytelling for design portfolio/persona/user insight. If you could also make one for research plan, that'd be very awesome. Looking forward to seeing more from your content💕
Great video as always! I want to share the problem I often run into during a presentation, which is I have the tendency to over explain the context. Because the audiences usually include team members and stakeholders who are not closed involved in the project, I want to give everyone as much context as possible so that the conclusion would come natural to them, but this often result in running short on time or unnecessary discussions of minor details. Aona, do you have tips on how to condense the story effectively?
Usually, I have a purpose in my portfolio story. That is important for thinking between intangible and tangible. It's something that doesn't have to be said, right?
Really nice tutorial! Can you make a video to go through portfolio slides including self introduction - project - wrap up - questions, which like a real live portfolio review.
I can't unfortunately - due to confidentiality of my projects. I do offer portfolio presentation coaching in my coaching service if you need more in-depth case study presentation strategies. Link in description box.
What is your recommendation for talking about research findings as part of your portfolio presentation? To what degree of depth is it necessary to explain what you found as a way to show your impact...and also to balance that against overwhelming your audience with unnecessary details. Thanks for your informative videos!
Thank you for your question. It’s hard to answer this question without context of what you plan to share. I do offer career coaching service for folks who have questions like this so if you are interested, feel free to use the link in the video description box to sign up :)

Humans are story-driven animals.

What’s your opinion on playing royalty-free chill Lofi music in the background during your portfolio presentation to set the mood?
Haha I love the idea - i've never done it or seen others do it but now i am like...why not? (something you should check with the recruiters for sure)
great tips

So essentially don’t present it as a conference presentation but as a pitch.
Can you a make figma file documentation?
单纯bootcamp/certificate 够用吗
Thanks alot
Come back to review:) Love love!!
hhh谢谢up
