      It's one of my favorites, and I've never changed anything from when I bought it ten years ago. That drum just has a certain something that none of my other drums do. I just hope it never breaks - I'm not sure where you go for parts on a hundred year-old Wilson Bros. drum!

    To simply show the collection - this is great. But to demonstrate how drum tech has changed , not so much , so much muffling and EQ meant we didn’t really get the raw and natural sound of each drum..

      @danablett 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      ffs, its not meant to be a true comparison. He's demonstrating what each drum can do, not make them compete against each other. He brought out a different personality in each drum, which is the point of having a snare collection.

    • @DylanWissing
      @DylanWissing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely not. This particular drum has had a LOT of renovations over the decades. It can sound great in the right context, really crappy in the wrong one - NOT an all-purpose drum by any stretch of the imagination! As much as I love the idea and history of the Radio King snare drum, I've found that you really need to spend some time with one before committing to it - there can be some real lemons out there! I hope that you always keep your grandfather's drum though. What a great thing to still have in the family!

    What was the point of this ???........certainly not to showcase how each drum sounds. By using all the processing tools, equalization and mastering button / effects, muffling, zero rings, wallet, down tuned heads, gated verb, echo etc, this did NOT give the listener any indication what those snares really sound like.

    • @DylanWissing
      @DylanWissing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are all drums that I use in my studio sessions, and each is tuned and treated in very different ways depending on what the track calls for. This is very definitely NOT a scientific shootout - more like an artistic shootout. Hope that helps!
