    The moment I saw this vintage Tama Kingbeat snare shell, I KNEW I needed it. Theres just something about old beat up snares that make me love them. Especially this one since the shell looks like it's copper. It would be simply enough (and really expensive) to buy all of the correct Tama parts for it, but I wanted to challenge myself by using only parts that I already had. The lugs are from a Rogers SuperTen, the throw off is from a Tama piccolo, butt is a Pearl, and the hoops and tension rods, well knows what the came off of! I guess you could call this a "relic snare." Relic guitars are definitely a thing, but are relic drums a thing?
    Shoutout to Bryce for helping with the filming

    i'm so glad you played a kinda punky song towards the end. usually when i see those tama drums, my brain is just like "90's skate-punk" also looks like something one of those 90's skate punk bands would play on a reunion tour. like the band hadn't played together since 99 and the drummer was like "i'm gonna use my old tama kit" and it was the first time he'd seen the snare in 20 years and is just like "i'll make it work"

    Missed opportunity!->
    If you had cut the two snare straps at opposite angles it would have looked like a snake tongue, and the way the strap was dancing being in front of the air port combined with the rock ‘n’ roll would have added at least another +10 style points.

  • @porcelainthunder2213

    Only thing I would have added was a coat of clear lacquer over it to keep the rest of the flaky chrome from becoming glitter and winding up in the carpet all over the house.

    Sadly I found three legendary snare drums in this kind of abandoned state... One Eames drum - some of the last shells made with the Gladstone technique and molds - that had been f*** up with a file. I had to redo the entire bearing edge by hand per the instructions of the current owner of Eames drums, making a graduated bed. The snare have been acquired by one of my friends who is a pro player :) Another one, was a Rogers Big R Dynasonic, found randomly by some instructor at my school back in the days. It needed some care, so I told them where to go in town, that they could fix it, and that I would take it if they didn't wanted the thing. Not only was the lady outraged that I asked, I never saw it again and they ended up putting it in the trash, very probably... D: Also saw an abandoned Slingerland on the floor of a big-band practice room in college in terrible state... I don't know why do people can't respect drums in the West?!!
