@@davidstepro7486 TH-cam definitely has something against Mediocre Amateur(s), because new uploads never show in my recommendations :( Pity, this is one of the best outdoor channels, they deserve million subs!
Good on you guys for turning back from the initial objective! I think the true metric of success in the mountains should always be good decisions made and not peaks summited. Knowing when to step back is a true mark of a good mountaineer. We need more of these turn-backs captured on outdoor adventure content. For so long the skiing video scene was saturated with people sending the gnar, racing avalanches, and jumping off cliffs. While those are very fun to look at, it's refreshing to see the full spectrum of mountain adventures be shown like it is here. The good, the sketchy, and the awesome.
Discovered the channel recently and like many others have said the episodes are produced to a very high standard but one thing I never see mentioned is the music. Top quality! You could hear some of these tunes while not seeing the video and immediately know it is Mediocre Amateurs😊
(*Update* there are now two dislikes, Christof got his wife to login and dislike also) Christof making his presence known by being the only person to dislike this video.. Has to be him lol
Love the channel and watching what you guys do! I honestly dont have much experience summer skiing, but am conservative so when I hear late start, south facing slope, boiling hot, and visible ice balling, I think of perfect potential wet avalanche conditions. Glad it worked out and you had an awesome day!
Not sure if you're a Rocky Mountainer because I recently heard that's an issue out there, but summer skiing is pretty standard out in the West. (The West Coast I guess I should say). All about that corn snow. I'm guessing it's because our snowpack is just much more dense. Sierra Cement and Cascade Concrete pay off once late Spring and Summer roll around!
Great timing on this video. I have a trip planned at the end of July to hike all three sisters over a three day weekend. Good tidbits of beta in here. Love the channel! Keep getting after it!
I for one would never second guess the decisions made by others in the moment. I am not there. You are. Good on you for knowing you're gonna get grief and saying the heck with it and doing the right thing in the moment. The mountaineers decision is to retreat and return another day. Thanks for posting!
These volcano adventures never fail to impress. Some of the views in this video like the shaded icy cliffs with you guys skiing past them really makes me want to get up there this weekend. What an awesome video.
I went up Bailey several years ago and was pretty sure that was looking at Shasta to the south (and McLoughlin). Does it seem reasonable that you could see Shasta from there?
Your videos are amazing at so many levels... Effort... Attitude... Physical Fitness... all pretty high levels or roll modeling going on.. So ya I have to be part of Team Mediocre which is why I just ordered some cool murch!!
These absolutely make my day every time I watch a new one. I'm shocked you guys don't have three times the amount of subscribers. I guess you remain a bit of a hidden gem on YT.
Tried climbing north sister a couple summers ago. No snow on the mountain and it was very sketchy. Got to the traverse and turned around, Definitely the right decision on the guys part. Skree is everywhere! I almost pulled a Boulder out on me, saw my life flash before my eyes. Good video!
I was thinking, Dang I wonder if anyone ever gets hurt and then BAM your playing it safe. Serious respect. Love your adventures. Living vicariously through you since I cannot do 99% of what you guys do 😍
As a less experienced 'mediocre amateur', I often feel the urge to just 'push through' even when my gut is saying 'no'. Really helpful to see when you all asses and make the decision to re-direct/change plans, even if that means not summiting. . love your content; keep on bootn'
Fantastic! Turns that are so completely enjoyable makes it possible to see the personal variance in skiing. Maybe it's time to see twelve great runs in four minute sequence. 48 minutes of bliss.
agree with everyone else, definitely a smart move to turn around before the summit. this just means that next year you guys need to link all 3 summits!!
What a day and visibility, awesome scenery and shots, especially that group skiing at the end! Deni sure knows how to pick the great weather day :) Best crew on TH-cam, just missing Christoph here!
The volcanoes you can see to the north of the Sisters are Jefferson, Hood, and then Adams. St Helens and Rainier aren't far beyond that but they're obscured by some of the other hills. Lassen would be to the south, beyond McLoughlin and Shasta.
Good call guys. I’ve yet to climb Northie because of these kinds of conditions. There’s a reason they call it the bowling alley: you can easily become the pins
Nice work amateurs! When did this happen - memorial day weekend or just before? We were there that weekend and found a pristine skin track up the South face on N Sister that some amateurs must have put in late the day before! Made it easy for us!
Mt Adam’s was the other far away mountain you could see. At least I’m fairly certain. Iv summited those and could see Adam’s. Crazy how far you can see when your on top.
Yep it is! I was wondering if they'd end up being able to see Rainier bc my only time up there everything north of Jefferson was clouded out. Not sure if it would lie between Adams and Hood or Hood and Jefferson from this angle, if visible at all. I actually believe that white little lump just east of Three Fingered Jack is Saint Helens.

and vice versa...
100%. i bought an expensive snowblower just to be sure it wont snow this winter. and so far it worked out great. ^^
best channel on YT right here
100%
How is it that this channel only has 55K subscribers?
@@davidstepro7486 I'm not sure why TH-cam doesn't recommend the channel more, it's an atrocity
Danny can shoot and edit like a MF'er! Totally agree, MA is best on YT!

"We threw this together at the last minute" a.k.a. standard practice for these adventures.
And yet they had a better turn out than Christof's birthday ride!
damnnn matt doing whip-its on the sisters this man is a maniac
Ha! Three people had a total of 10 hours to let me know and not a word;)
Underrated comment. I'm rolling
i know that sounds stupid but your videos helped me through a difficult time. thank you! I wish you all the best.
Always get so pumped when I see a MA notification.
One of my favorite channels on YT- you guys just keep crushing the edits. So underrated.
You guys never disappoint to inspire and entertain. Thanks for never taking yourselves too seriously.
It is always a good day when a new MA is uploaded. Thanks, Danny
Awesome video and climbing and skiing......thanks for sharing
It's amazing that I can see Three sisters from my house in Eugene.
Well Sarah Palin can see Russia from hers…
Great video as always. Thanks for all your hard work Danny!! You are a very talented videographer, editor and story teller!
Epic day, fellas...especially in that heat! Thanks for sharing!
Stay amateur boys. We love the love content just the way it is. Well done as usual.
You are all very fortunate to have each other as friends. I think you know that. This is rare to see men in this culture bond as you all do. Cheers!
My. Favorite. Channel. Of. All. Time.

Another awesome video. That peak you could see, far to the south, was probably Mount McLoughlin (9,493), not Lassen.
Yeah, or maybe shasta.
@@zacharyhoffman142 it was McLoughlin. Shasta is a little too far away to be seen, even from South Sister (which is higher and a little closer)
I went up Bailey several years ago and was pretty sure that was looking at Shasta to the south (and McLoughlin). Does it seem reasonable that you could see Shasta from there?
Haha. Pole Creek Trailhead. My stomping grounds. Great job, guys.

Amazing! 💯
Wish you'd show you guys eating pizza at the end of the day. Complete the journey. Loved this.
every video is a banger!
Awesome work! Days when your plan goes to shit, and you can enjoy the mountain for what it is and not what you wanted it to be, are the best. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
No suncups + buttery corn = another Fantastic video. Party on.
