Thanks for this, great to see Gary Mac again. I remember seeing him for the first time in 1990 when he was Leicester captain. It was Leeds’ last home game of the season and I was in the South Stand when he scored a free kick against us. Leeds won the match but Gary Mac was the best player on the pitch that day. I remember saying to my mate when we go back up we need him bossing our midfield. I couldn’t believe it when Wilko signed him that summer. Gary Mac was fantastic at Leeds could play almost anywhere, incredible silky skills and a dead ball specialist of the highest order. Him and Strach were definitely the best signings Wilko ever made. In fact Gary Mac and Eddie Gray are my favourite Leeds players of all time.
Yeah ! I thought Gary was the guidance for Gerrard and got him settled from being a young hot headed player to a thinker. In my own best Liverpool 11 he’s alongside Souness and Gerrard with Salah and Heighway on the wings. Unbeatable I reckon. Great little post 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Gary Mac was part of the best midfield quartet in the prem/old div 1 in the early 90s at Leeds. No wonder Leeds won the title with Gary Mac, Strachan, speed and batty. Also kudos to include Tony dorigo. Years ahead of his time.
What a player McAllister was btw I'm a Celtic fan but I remember him when I was a kid he was at Liverpool and still brilliant at the back end of his career
Gary Mac has always been a bit of a hero of mine. He arrived at Liverpool when I was just a kid and he was fantastic for us. Great listen and such a knowledge of the game. Guess we know where Stevie’s success at Rangers came from
To be honest I would put Speed in there ahead of McAllister! 🤣Really surprised he didn't mention him at all, I thought Gary Speed was an immense player.
@@buzzpo3815 If he was that good he wouldn't have spent most of his career at Leicester and Coventry City, bigger clubs would have wanted him. Speed was playing at a level at least as good as McAllister throughout his whole career.
Interesting story about Mo Johnstone in the way it’s a lot of crap. Johnstone went to Celtic from Watford and played a few years. Went to Nantes on a Bosman and then supposedly was coming back to Celtic and signed papers that Celtic could have held him to. Souness hijacked the deal because he was tipped off by Johnstone’s agent who was a Hun that Johnstone was available. Celtic then told him to bolt if he wanted to play with them and he signed for Rangers. Showed how much interest McAllistar had in Scottish football if he couldn’t get the basics of that story right
EPL with one or two token English players in each team. And its overrated. Money thrown at mickey mouse clubs with stadiums less than 20,000 capacity.😂@@jongbong1912
Carragher played a lot of his football at r/b. Gary didn't select 5 number 9s. They were clearly his choices to mull over and decide who fitted best in his team.
No English player has played more European games than Carra. So he must of done something right. You don't play 737 for Liverpool if you aren't capable. He put everything on the line in every match & training session from what I've heard. That 2005 CL final was a perfect example of that. Blocked a few shots & got some important tackles too. You'd think he was gonna collapse by the end.

What a pro Gary Mac was. His twilight years at Liverpool was no fluke. He'd been a good player for years before that
And now works as a doctor who villain
Gary was the brain that taught Steven Gerrard and Mick Beale at Ibrox ....brilliant to see this ....his words of wisdom shine
Michael Beale…. Sacked twice 2/3 thru a season.
He taught him well??
