Thank you for sharing your knowledge in videos. I buy a lot of niche items myself for various types of needlework that are often passed over. I especially appreciate your telling us what the letters stand for! My memory for random letters and numbers is not good, but when it's something that makes sense, it's much easier to remember.
I'm a huge fan of early home computers - I still have my original 1986 Mac SE, the 1987 Mac SE with hard drive, lots of the color iMacs, and even an eMac (made for the education industry). Nice to see Tandy get their due! Another great video!!
I never used the TRS-80 but I did have the Commodore 64. I will be on the look out for this one. Thanks for the opportunity and fun on your channel and your Facebook group.
We had the TRS-80 growing up. My brother programmed it to display a swear word every time a certain key was pressed. Thanks for the sourcing tips - I have been guilty of ignoring those lower shelves and items hidden under other things.
One of my bigger sales when I was starting out was a tandy computer complete in box with tons of extras. I snagged it as the guy was closing out on last day of an estate sale. Paid 150$ I sold it locally at the game shop in kansas city for 750$ later that day. The best part was it ended up being 2 computers, One monitor all boxed with original paperwork, ect. And a printer, ribbon cables, all that extra stuff. Was bummed out I didn't get to hold onto it for a bit. Never owned one before. This one was just in amazing shape. The store has it on display now. Super cool.
My husband owns a computer business. This video had him going through all of his old computers pieces, parts, etc., sending me photos of items to resell!
thanks being only 5’ tall I am guilty of missing upper shelves and being old I rarely stoop way low too. I will now rethink it. lol 😝 Thks for the TRS 80 info
I remember seeing the TRS 80 at Radio Shack in the mall when I was a kid….unfortunately, my parents couldn’t afford it…I did get a Commodore 64 for X-Mas 1982 or 1983, though.
Fantastic Find! I hate to say it but I remember the TRS80. Wish I had save alot of stuff that I trashed....Great talk on finding things and looking around. I just did this at an Estate Sale. Looked up and down and went through the rooms 3 times. Amazing the things we miss. I think people are too quick to find the high profit item or get bored, frustrated or whatever. It is all related to your discussion about having patience. ! Thanks for sharing!
It also helps if you have a love of exploring what you’re seeing and touching and going over it. Not only do people visually scan and then leave things behind, but they don’t wanna touch it and they don’t want to explore it to see what it is. Also being an avid reader is a big help because you are more apt to open up items that look like reading material just out of curiosity.
The only thing I remember about Tandy computers was a really annoying guy in a computer class I had who constantly interupted the instructor about how much better his Tandy was and how he would do the assignment on it. The instructor kept having to remind him that wasn't the computer we were using. He finally told him to shut up or get out. He left. 🤣🤣
TRS80 brings me horrible memories of a required computer class back in jr high and I hated not knowing how to make the assignments work (making your name pop up on the screen). Mine barely came out super simple and others in the class made theirs pop with fireworks and sizzle 😭😭😭 but if I find the manuals I’ll get my revenge 😈
I found the “banned” Where’s Waldo nudity edition in a bottom shelf in the garage of an estate sale a few weeks ago. Got it for $1, Just sold it for $40. Most of my best finds have come from top shelves or under tables!! Thanks for your informative videos, Dom!
This was awesome! It wasn’t quiet as dramatic as your video “my most emotional day reselling” my goodness that was a good one just can’t get over all your camera angles. Plus the fake hug!! I bet you tricked a few people with that hug haha. Thanks for putting out these videos I learn from every video I watch. TRS80 for the win!
We bought a TRS 80 for our eldest son for $37.50 in silver quarters during the Busch takeover of silver. It failed, of course. We cashed in just though to buy the computer and a modem. Tom had the first TRS 80 modem in the northeastern US! He was still in high school and used it to do his university course computer work from home. The term telecommuting had not yet been developed. And, he still has it. It still works. Much better than the first Mackintosh. You had to feed 2000 numbers into it before you could get going!
I used the Tandy TRS-80 in high school. I programmed my own game as a project. They were super expensive back in 1982. Great video. Old people like me like collectibles like these items....and we have the money to spend! Great video.
These videos challenge me to look more carefully in areas others don't look! If only I could just download all the information you and others have to be able to recognize what others are missing! lol
Great find.... it's also nice to be almost 6 foot tall to see in those hard to reach areas! My knees are killing me these days but I'd rather look up high then low
Advantage goes to you tall guys that can reach that top shelf without getting up on their tippy toes LOL, but I totally agree you need to be aware of all of your surroundings up down high low etc. Or you are going to walk past some treasures as those other 47 did. By the way the Trash 80 nickname came from the OS and programming languages being deemed buggy and hardware being lesser quality, opinions of the time. Just in case you were wondering.
Yes it’s an advantage for the high areas but not for the low ones lol and I’ll still get down there with the little ones. Good historical points! Thanks
Great info! I have a vintage Epson QX-10 system in the original boxes I came across recently that is another system to be on the lookout for. Not as desirable as the TRS-80 but still can bring some good money.
I love selling vintage video computer games. I discovered how much that was when my husband dug out all his old ones. Had an old Intellivision console too. I'd niche in it if I could.
Hi Dom, I'm wondering if you have ever made a video on taxes and specifically what exactly you give your accountant and where to get it off Ebay and PayPal?
LOL Just to date myself ...as a senior in HS I had a Brand New TRS-80. Boy was I popular!!! IBM finally came out with the PC about 6 months after I graduated college.
TRS 80 was my first computer. You had to program most everything yourself. I really became fairly good at it. The first program that I purchased for it was a Peachtree Accounting Program. Wish I'd kept that old thing!
Great video! When looking for the price you accepted, you did Ctrl-f, then what did you search for? I couldn't see it on the screen or understand what you said.

Such great information! Thanks Dom as always:)

Well, at least you got something out of it. Lol
Looks like you got more than one of your "top sales of the month" from the same sourcing trip! Very nice
I remember it! My first computer was a Commadore 64.
Awesome
Love the advise.
Thanks!

I am sure I would have missed it too, I blow by stuff too fast way too often and see them later.

I had no idea TRASH-80 stuff was so pushable.
Glad that I watched. When I saw you write TRS, I for some reason though Dungeons and Dragons. But that's TSR. Too much alphabet soup!
Another great acronym I often recommend!

great info, thanks. but what about the blue box next to the notebooks that was marked microsoft? it has to have TRS 80 only?
Yes. That blue box was just modern blank media
