England 1-2 Brazil | Korea/Japan 2002 | FIFA World Cup

- England and Brazil played out a memorable quarter-final encounter at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Japan/Korea. Michael Owen gave the Three Lions the lead before goals either side of the break from Rivaldo and Ronaldinho secured victory for the Selecao.
The question remains: was Ronaldinho's free-kick against David Seaman a wonder goal or fluke?

Ricardo Kaka actually.
Cafu, Kaká
No way.
1:35 One of my favorite Brazilian goals ever. Great counter with pace, lethal stepover from Ronaldinho and Rivaldo makes it look so easy. That's the Brazil every team used to fear.
It is all over in few seconds , bro....breath taking run and a sooper cool finishing...wonderful...
I already could tell that the goalkeeper was too far off his line when I was 12 sitting in front of the television, I told myself if it was me I would attempt a direct lob at goal and true enough, Ronaldinho went for the lob and scored.
True, these days the Brazilian team sometimes forgets to play Joga Bonito like they used to. I hope they get that energy back
Watching Ronaldinho play the game brings tears to my eyes. Such joy, so much love for the game. Pure talent. 😭❤️
I remember this game so fondly, I was 6 and woke up in the middle of the night to watch it with my whole family. I'll never forget that free kick as long as I live.
Wow thats a wonderful memory😄
Bro u wake up bvz it was held in Asia, Korea japan...
Every ear we wake up & watch FIFA world cup match 😇
I was 5 yo in 2002. And i can only remember one game of this world cup. IT was brazil vs turkey in group stages.
I already could tell that the goalkeeper was too far off his line when I was 12 sitting in front of the television, I told myself if it was me I would attempt a direct lob at goal and true enough, Ronaldinho went for the lob and scored.
I was 14 at the time, other side of the fence I'm English. The School gathered in the hall to watch the game. Went insane when Michael Owen scored, but of course by the end we were devastated. Could hear the teachers in the background saying "typical England, chocked as usual"
Having both Robero Carlos and Cafu in the same team is already amazing enough let alone having Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho as your forwards.
And lucio on the defense
People talk about how great Neymar is but he would have struggled to even get into that Brazil starting 11
Maybe, but he’s above the level of Denilson definitely. So probably the first to come off the bench.
He wouldn’t lol
Only because you have to choose between him and Ronaldinho.
No ones calls neymar great. Dont know which people you have listened talking this.
Neymar is great because Brazil does not have any other choice.
Cafu said to Ronaldinho: "the goalkeeper is ahead." And it happened..
Really? If that is true, it was an amazing goal. The keeper moved his feet badly as he was leaning forward. (I use football topics to teach English on my channel... new topics every week. Please take a look.)
He told this in Brazil and Cafu did a confirmation
Rogério Ceni also said.
He may have meant to shoot and Cafu may have said ‘the keeper is off his line’ but I don’t think he meant to put it in that corner.
@@EnglishforFOOTBALLFANS you maybe need to see some film of Ronaldinho even in practice never been and never will be a man possessing that level of skill. it was clearly meant to score
It was gut wrenching watching this as a kid. No one in the world could believe England were ahead with Owen's goal. Looking back that Brazil team was sensational, England did very well against them.
I remember waking up very early to watch this game live. Not a regret, this is one of the most exciting FIFA WC games I've ever watched! And that Ronaldinho free kick... just superb!

I was so glad back then cause brazil won that wc

Brazil has never had a team like it since. Also the manager Luiz Felipe Scolari was doing amazing things. He wqs incredible and the players loved him.
Scolari shut down England in three straight tournaments (2002 & 2006 World Cups, 2004 European Cups) as coach of Brazil & Portugal. That man alone is a major reason why England couldn’t get any silverware for nearly 60 years

It's gonna be tough match, but my bet would go for Brazil. Their individual talent is too much, if the team is having a bad day, you can count on the likes of Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo to change the game by themselves without the need of other players to help them. The only defensive line that can stop those front 3 would probably be the back 4 of Italy 1994 team.
