Suspicious as it does not say customer modified tip post delivery instead it just shows a different amount. Once a order is placed with tip and you accept it if anything changes it should say this. In this scenario I would of mentioned it to chat support with screenshots showing before and after. They owe you some money Jen...

It is: What determines if you have to type in a zip code and then sign for the order?!? This has happened to me 2-3x. I was totally caught off guard the first time, and had no idea what to do. So I asked the cashier what the zip code at that store was, typed that in, and just made a squiggly line on the signature 😄 ... So, what are we supposed to do in that circumstance? Thx in advance ~

i am an instacart customer and I am very interested in how you guys accomplish the shopping and delivery. I tend to give about 20% tip. And now i see you guys REALLY deserve a healthy tip. There is a lot of effort involved! Good work!

Wow, I never communicate that much with my customers. If I need to sub an item I'll snap a pic of what I chose to use for the replacement for an approval or not. I always do produce first and weigh everything at once, then go through the aisles. After that it's meats, dairy and frozen foods. My time is under 100 seconds and I've maintained a 5 star rating almost my whole time as a shopper
Same. I used to over-communicate, then I received a 4 star rating from a lady who didn’t want to be bothered so I stopped. I still communicate replacements & produce ripeness, but i don’t send a gazillion messages when they don’t reply. Got my rating back up to 5 stars 😀

You must have been an A+ student in school. Idk why I'm watching instacart videos. I guess I'm just intrigued of how much people make from apps like such. It looks like a quite demanding job and being organized and efficient, like you are, is crucial in making the most $/time from doing this. Also you go beyond expectation when it comes to the customer service aspects even though it doesn't guarantee an increase in tip post-delivery. I'm just amazed and I respect your work ethic a lot.

Make sure you grab the correct items. Like the carrots were not correct, that could have been a very time consuming mistake if she had gone to a different section of the store. Its easy to grab the wrong item.

I almost give myself a coronary beating that clock. It’s so hard when my scanner doesn’t ever work and I have to take pics. I also can’t see my items close up before accepting or the customers delivery instructions until I check out. Every video I watch it looks like they have a different app. These videos have been so helpful. Thank you.
I'm so glad you showed to click on that little box and check delivery notes... because some people don't realize that shoppers don't see this until delivery and they will sometimes leave notes about their order there and you'll miss those if you don't check that!! Very good advice! I always suggest to people that they do that!!

You know what might be a cool idea for a video? Do one from the customers side to show how they experience things start to finish! Things like does it ping their phone if do a replacement for approval would be good to know! Very often I find customers don't bother to approve or disprove of replacements that are sitting in review and I would like to know maybe why?

Sometimes we are busy at work, with our kids or sleeping. I sometimes forget to choose replacements and usually end up getting refunded and that is fine with me. We do get alerts but some of us cant be glued to the phone to respond....other times shoppers dont want to brother and just refund things without asking lol
You do a lot of similar things that I do. I usually grab a couple items first also, and often make those items the items I'm least sure about! There's been times I've spent 10 minutes looking for an odd ball item!

I know this video is almost a year old but I just wanted to say thank you for being so picky when picking the items and checking expiration dates etc. I use instacart as a customer and have had quite a few bad experiences with it in my area. I have had bags of chips delivered fully smushed, chicken that expired the next day but had obviously had already gone bad (it was not a normal colour), wrong items, missing items, shoppers replacing items without asking first or completely ignoring your instructions for replacements/refunds if items aren't available etc. I even had a shopper once leave my entire order in the lobby of my 12 floor apartment building fully unattended, didn't message me he was doing this or anything. I was done there in less than 5 minutes once I had realized what had happened and it was all gone. It's great that there are shoppers out there like you. It just sucks that there are also shoppers who try to switch out items for more expensive ones to try and raise their tips or just do what they want and fully ignore your instructions and won't communicate with you. Kudos to you! and Thank you!!! 😊

Yesterday, I really used the positivity and the relationship building with the customer. Ann had placed her order a couple of days ago. When I got to the store and after getting my produce, I sent my greeting. I add the persons name there. I saw notes from previous day but with items on the list I'm shopping. After hearing that she had placed order previously and was confused as to why it never came, I told her Ann I do not know what happened but today is a new day and I am here now and I will assure you that I will shop your order and deliver it to you. Not only did she give me a 5 star rating but she increased my tip. She was cute as I was pulling up she was waving out the window and when I was pulling away, she came out and waved saying thank you.
What ??? You have so many batches ! In Los Angeles I always I see “no batches” and we have fight for any batch, it’s gone literally for 0.1 sec. not joking. Btw, great video. Thank you for your amazing work for us.
After you accept the batch, hit the back button so you can take a screen shot of the order payout, milage map. Also screen shot the customer information before shopping.

Good morning Jen. I received my debit card one week ago, but for some reason, I am so anxious that I didn't take any batches. I do a lot of grocery shopping for my household and usually my wife sends me out to pick up 20 or so items and I usually complete them very fast. Not only that but she's very picky in what I get, therefore i would call for "substitutions" if I don't find the item(s) she wants. So, I am pretty much "trained" to do this, plus I am very sociable when interacting with strangers. I just don't know why I have little confidence. I have watched bunch of YT channels on IC, but so far you have given me the most confidence to "just do it". I plan to do a batch today and will to give you my report. I’m both a shopper and. Customer.. and I have a 5 star and communicate and send pics .. but I feel that’s sooo much texting .. I’d be annoyed if My shopper texted soo much .. I text about half of you do.. at first I did that .. and I had a customer say to me .. u dint have to talk to me the entire time .. and as a shopper I understood what he meant .. so Food for thought
Hi Lori. I understand what you are saying here. In these situations it is up to the shopper to use their best judgment and trust their gut. And in this case, the customer was warming up to me and it worked. But I agree that some customers do not want the communication and in this case I pull back and communicate accordingly. Hi Rene. I highly recommend you moving forward and doing Instacart. You can work he when you want it is very flexible. Just set a daily goal for yourself even if it’s very small. It is great exercise and it is weekly payments. Can’t beat that! 💛

A little advice I have ( to get the big paying batches ) I usually non stop refresh and scroll all the way to the bottom ASAP . Usually the high paying batches pop up at the very bottom . I regularly get $70+ paying batches doing this trick and also every so often $100+ .. Delivery only batches usually pop up at the top of the batches for me also .
I've been doing this for a week and although larger paying batches are at the bottom, I have yet to see anything more than $60 and those are like double batches at Costco with 50 items and 20 mile drive lol. I like to do $20+ single batches or $32+ double batches; Both have to be under 40 items and under 4 miles .
These are good metrics. The batches seem to be slowing down quite a bit. Especially the higher paying ones.. it’s good you are not settling in spite of the fewer opportunities.💛
@@JENontheGO I had some pretty good batches and I got out at 8am and worked non stop. I did a total of 8 batches 2 doubles. 4 of the batches pay were 65, 50, 42 & 38
Thank you for your tutorial. When you started you were already at the batch screen. I know that you “ go online” when you’re ready, but how do you go off line? As a new shopper, I would have liked to see how you sign in and what to do when you change location or want to stop receiving batches.

But I think I’ll take your tip and communicate anyway. I guess a part of me thinks why waste my time typing messages to them if they aren’t responding. Can you do another video where you show from start to finish how to use the actual app? To show how to start and show where you click to scan an item, how to message the customer about a replacement item, how to pay, everything that your fingers are doing. Using the app on the actual phone is the most intimidating for me. Show your actual fingers and where on the app you’re pressing to do the actual screen work with your phone. Also show how to pay at the register too. If you can that would be greatly appreciated :)

I have never sat in a store parking lot waiting for batches... I sit a few miles on the edge of all the zones I go to, I've worked four zones, I get average $30-$50 an hour by playin 8t smart, and never sitting at the store...
Hi Brooke! It is normal and natural to be nervous before you start. Get get out there and take a batch. My recommendation is that you take a batch with as few items as possible, this way you will get very familiar with the process of the app and scanning and items. Then you can work your way up. Have fun and be brave! 💛
I am a fairly new Instacart shopper, I appreciate your tips… As I am watching this video, I just received a batch from a Safeway 35 miles to the south from my home, going 25 miles to the north from my place, a total distance of 63 miles from store to customer, there is a Safeway 8 miles from the customers location, How does this happen !, doesn’t make any sense to me…

Sometimes people won't communicate with you at all, especially if they are elderly and aren't phone savvy.

Instacart knows that shoppers manipulate the time often so I find it hard to believe that will get shoppers better batches.

Thanks so much for this video Jen! I’ve shopped about 8 batches in total since recently starting with Instacart. I just learned something amazing from you in this video. I had no idea I could view customer notes and delivery preferences PRIOR to the very end by pressing the “i.” It was quite frustrating feeling as though I was in the lurch during the entire shop. You know what might be a cool idea for a video? Do one from the customers side to show how they experience things start to finish! Things like does it ping their phone if do a replacement for approval would be good to know! Very often I find customers don't bother to approve or disprove of replacements that are sitting in review and I would like to know maybe why?

Sometimes we are busy at work, with our kids or sleeping. I sometimes forget to choose replacements and usually end up getting refunded and that is fine with me. We do get alerts but some of us cant be glued to the phone to respond....other times shoppers dont want to brother and just refund things without asking lol

I know this video is almost a year old but I just wanted to say thank you for being so picky when picking the items and checking expiration dates etc. I use instacart as a customer and have had quite a few bad experiences with it in my area. I have had bags of chips delivered fully smushed, chicken that expired the next day but had obviously had already gone bad (it was not a normal colour), wrong items, missing items, shoppers replacing items without asking first or completely ignoring your instructions for replacements/refunds if items aren't available etc. I even had a shopper once leave my entire order in the lobby of my 12 floor apartment building fully unattended, didn't message me he was doing this or anything. I was done there in less than 5 minutes once I had realized what had happened and it was all gone.
It's great that there are shoppers out there like you. It just sucks that there are also shoppers who try to switch out items for more expensive ones to try and raise their tips or just do what they want and fully ignore your instructions and won't communicate with you.

Yesterday, I really used the positivity and the relationship building with the customer. Ann had placed her order a couple of days ago. When I got to the store and after getting my produce, I sent my greeting. I add the persons name there. I saw notes from previous day but with items on the list I'm shopping. After hearing that she had placed order previously and was confused as to why it never came, I told her Ann I do not know what happened but today is a new day and I am here now and I will assure you that I will shop your order and deliver it to you. Not only did she give me a 5 star rating but she increased my tip. She was cute as I was pulling up she was waving out the window and when I was pulling away, she came out and waved saying thank you.

After you accept the batch, hit the back button so you can take a screen shot of the order payout, milage map. Also screen shot the customer information before shopping.

Good morning Jen. I received my debit card one week ago, but for some reason, I am so anxious that I didn't take any batches. I do a lot of grocery shopping for my household and usually my wife sends me out to pick up 20 or so items and I usually complete them very fast. Not only that but she's very picky in what I get, therefore i would call for "substitutions" if I don't find the item(s) she wants. So, I am pretty much "trained" to do this, plus I am very sociable when interacting with strangers. I just don't know why I have little confidence.
I have watched bunch of YT channels on IC, but so far you have given me the most confidence to "just do it".
I plan to do a batch today and will to give you my report.

And in this case, the customer was warming up to me and it worked. But I agree that some customers do not want the communication and in this case I pull back and communicate accordingly. Hi Rene. I highly recommend you moving forward and doing Instacart. You can work he when you want it is very flexible. Just set a daily goal for yourself even if it’s very small. It is great exercise and it is weekly payments. Can’t beat that! 💛

A little advice I have ( to get the big paying batches ) I usually non stop refresh and scroll all the way to the bottom ASAP . Usually the high paying batches pop up at the very bottom . I regularly get $70+ paying batches doing this trick and also every so often $100+ .. Delivery only batches usually pop up at the top of the batches for me also .

I've been doing this for a week and although larger paying batches are at the bottom, I have yet to see anything more than $60 and those are like double batches at Costco with 50 items and 20 mile drive lol. I like to do $20+ single batches or $32+ double batches; Both have to be under 40 items and under 4 miles .
These are good metrics. The batches seem to be slowing down quite a bit. Especially the higher paying ones.. it’s good you are not settling in spite of the fewer opportunities.💛

Can you do another video where you show from start to finish how to use the actual app? To show how to start and show where you click to scan an item, how to message the customer about a replacement item, how to pay, everything that your fingers are doing. Using the app on the actual phone is the most intimidating for me. Show your actual fingers and where on the app you’re pressing to do the actual screen work with your phone. Also show how to pay at the register too. If you can that would be greatly appreciated :)

I have never sat in a store parking lot waiting for batches... I sit a few miles on the edge of all the zones I go to, I've worked four zones, I get average $30-$50 an hour by playin 8t smart, and never sitting at the store...

What do you do if the store doesn’t have bags ? I’m in NY and we have no plastic bags and sometimes the stores run out of paper bags.

Hi Brooke! It is normal and natural to be nervous before you start. Get get out there and take a batch. My recommendation is that you take a batch with as few items as possible, this way you will get very familiar with the process of the app and scanning and items. Then you can work your way up. Have fun and be brave! 💛

As I am watching this video, I just received a batch from a Safeway 35 miles to the south from my home, going 25 miles to the north from my place, a total distance of 63 miles from store to customer, there is a Safeway 8 miles from the customers location,
