A tip for using your rogue: you dont need advantage to get sneak attack, you can sneak attack if an ally is adjacent to the enemy even if you dont have advantage. Also if your rogue had the flourish bonus action, you can use that first and itll give you advantage to sneak attack. Also, trader money replenish each time you level up so if you ha e multiple level ups, try to empty the vendor between each one. Last note, prices are affected by the charisma value of whomever starts the conversation.
If you hit the "`/~" key (in between Tab & Esc, idk what its actually called) you can highlight yourself, party members, allies and enemies. Sometimes it will highlight them through walls so you can see their walking patterns. If you hold down left click on the mouse instead of clicking location to location your character will continuously walk without stopping and you can then use "Q" & "E" to spin the camera and move your character left and right!
When you were in the burning house "Turn Based Mode" activated, but you can exit at any time if you're not actually in combat, that's why it wasn't letting you hit the broken wall without going through your team turn by turn. To turn it on or off click the little hourglass symbol near the bottom right of the HUD or (shift + space). Activating turn based mode during free roam is super useful when dealing with traps and stuff in rooms, because time is paused you have time to react to them and stuff, might just save your skin! Make sure to use it when you can if you think of it! To help you with the spider boss (if you want) go back to the blighted village and look for three very large characters and talk to them (save before) to convince them to assist you in the future should you need, you can then call them into the boss battle or any boss battle you want! (only usable once I think). Have a scroll of feather fall for when in the spider cave. If you or one of your companions perception is high enough, someone will make a remark about the glowing green hole (save before) and be ready for another slightly tough battle if you decide to do what you think any true adventurer would do! Alternatively if you DO NOT use the scroll you'll get a kind of funny death scene! This is only one of several ways into a really cool area! I haven't seen anyone go that way on stream or video yet, but you do you! I don't want to dictate your adventure! Your playthrough is super fun to watch and you'll be lead there to that area one way or another I believe! In that area you'll find the ingredient for the weapon blueprints you picked up in the blighted village room that lead you to the spider boss. Also in the blighted village there was a little run down shop you went in, there were tons of ingredients and shelves and if you picked up the book and read it it will start a quest called "Search The Cellar". It tells you that there a door somewhere in the shop (your character would have said something out loud if you did read it) and in that location it leads you is a secret lever to a secret dungeon area with a cool side quest! don't miss out! you'll need to get past the spider boss and acquire a loot item in her den near the spooky green hole to continue the quest in that shops secret dungeon! MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL THE NOTES AND BOOKS IN THAT AREA, they'll help you answer questions from an entity in the dungeon and save before talking, if you fail the entity wont let you pass into the final area, not sure if there is another way in! You can save at literally any point, even in a cut scene, middle of dialogue and dice roll screens just hit F5, it will quick save and save you time going in and out of the menu. When you get to the point where you can use the item from the spiders den you only have to pass THREE SAVING THROWS in the dialogue so be careful to only choose those options or it might screw things up, it will give you options like (wisdom) or (Arcana) make sure to pick only the (saving throw) options or you can opt to go an entirely different rout with the quest, all up to you! The quest can be completed fully in Baldur's Gate somewhere. The last fight you came across, with the Gnolls (Hyena monsters) DO OPEN THE CHEST IN THE CAVE you'll mess up part of a quest, possibly the entire thing if you even unlock it and the faction of people will try to kill you, there no reasoning with them. If you can, save the two men in the cave too, but if I were you I'd totally wait on going in there because its a hard fight. You can actually talk to the Gnoll leader if you weaken it. Doing so, you can then actually get some super interesting options of how to deal with that fight! If the two men in the cave die it wont screw up the quest just opening the chest will. Throwing potions takes an action point, but you can get your characters back up once they've been knocked down, right click a potion and select throw, aim and select the party member you want to revive. You can't throw a potion too close or it will get destroyed EVEN IF IT SAYS A 100% SHOT and you'll waste a potion and a turn doing so, so make sure there is a bit of distance between you and your target. Make sure to right click and see all options for things, and use the examine on enemies and objects to see their stats, weaknesses and immunities! It can give you that extra edge before you go into battle! Have a good look at all your spells and see what ones require "Concentration" each character with spells can cast one concentration spell per long rest, so cast them as soon as you wake up and those will stay active until you sleep again or the characters concentration gets broken by damage. they can cast other spells as long as they don't require concentration too (it tells you if a spell requires concentration in the spells little pop up info tab). Same thing with some elixirs, look to see what ones do not have turn limits, like fire, electric, ice, and so on resistances or barkskin and a few other ones last until long rests too! Make sure if you have a character that can cast dialogue/perception/intimidation checks, to cast that on a character before entering dialogue to buff your speech and how you perceive the conversation and body language. Sometimes you'll get a marker for a chest in the ground, but your characters just wont see it themselves for some reason. Its a bug I think because it gets marked on the map in some cases yet the game still wont prompt you to dig, however you can right click the shovel in your inventory if you have one and select a manual dig option, then select the area you want to dig up. if there is something there it will be dug up and if not your character will make a remark about there being nothing to find! Save before disarming traps if you fail to disarm them they go off and some traps require a flipin 30+ to win, same with a few important dialogue options.
Clerics are proficient in clubs, maces morning stars, mages are proficient with staffs daggers, and I think they can get cross trained into using a short bow, fighters can be proficient in all weapons and are able to specialize and eventually master a weapon type.
I believe you were missing some of your spells with your mage because you were trying to go beyond the range of the spell so it was missing the enemy! Always check the range of your attack spells and distance from the target and the mage before casting so it’s not wasted!
Sneak Attack Beginning at 1st level, you know how to strike subtly and exploit a foe’s distraction. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon. You don’t need advantage on the attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy isn’t incapacitated, and you don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll. This means you can ONLY use your sneak attack if you have either advantage on the attack (bonus action hide can give you that), or if one of your party members in within 5 feet of the target.
Enter crouch mode with the entire party using (shift + c) and a single character with just "c" to see an enemies sight lines, you can then sneak around them and position the group in a really strategic way, even find ways to slip in between some enemies without them seeing you at all! quickly group everyone together or ungroup them with "G" if you send a character to go somewhere solo and then hit G when the way is clear the rest of the team will make their way to you, provided you haven't gone on a crazy path far away, sometimes they have a hard time finding their way to the character again lol. make sure to pick up everything even junk and torches and just send them to the camp immediately, when looting just right click the item and select "send to camp" if its not useful. It might seem dumb and a pain to pick up everything but if you get to a trader you can actually give them stuff for free in barter mode and their little happiness bar at the bottom of their picture in the trading menu will go up. If you raise their standing with you, you can get better items! I think it says they restock their store every long rest, but when I go they have basically almost the same items. Be careful starting some quests and then doing something else or getting side tracked and long resting too much. some quests can commence without you, resulting in you failing the quest entirely. I got asked to rescue a group of people, took my time getting there, explored, had a few long rests and they ended up being killed. I never even got to try to save them. When I figured out they died and the quest had failed, I was too far along to reasonably turn back to a previous save! If you can't disarm or unlock a box/chest you can just pick it up entirely and send it to camp to unlock later when you have the tools! Using the ALT key does highlight most things worth picking up, but it wont always highlight vases and boxes containing hidden keys and food items! Be sure to use ALT and look for the keys for chests, in a lot of cases the keys for them are somewhere in the vicinity! If one of your characters fail a perception check randomly walking around there is typically something there to find or observe you just need to bring a different character to that area and see if they pass the perception check. If you call out the dog Scratch using his summon icon in your hot bar he can find things and point them out to you! Sometimes you can find burrow holes and If you have a character that can shapeshift into animals, turning them into a cat will let them crawl through. They usually go into locked rooms or secret areas with loot! There are tons of hidden tucked away hard to find little areas scattered around you have to jump across to that lead to fun loot, chests and monster fights, but you gotta use the camera to look around and find the paths! Follow along the edges of the maps and when you see an area that looks like you can jump to use "Z" to enter jump mode, see if it will let you land on the other side or a platform. When it comes to jumping into holes/chasms, some wont say anything and some will tell you its certain death. Don't forget to pick up all the fire wine, smoke powder barrels and even the water barrels for fire enemies. Going around and dragging them from the inventory, placing them strategically before fights can make a world of difference! Using about 20 smoke powder barrels I managed to one shot the Hag boss and knock them flying across the battlefield! You can knock them into chasms too but then you don't get their loot :( Carry some empty crates on one of your characters, you can click and drag them out of your inventory to place them on top of each other for getting higher ground and areas you cant jump up to from floor level! Just make sure when you right click the box it gives the option to climb on top. Stack too high and you cant climb up, however you can make a stair case of crates! barrels can be stacked too but I don't think you can climb on top of them as easily as crates. If you see a statue with glowing eyes or something glowing on them go into stealth mode and sneak around them or they'll give you a nasty surprise, as well as alerting all nearby enemies in most cases. Talk to all the animals you can! Use the animal speaking potions/spells, they know things and can give you tips or even treasure locations and if nothing else they're usually just really funny! Love the playthrough so far, cant wait to see more!
As someone who is new to DND and not knowing the ins and outs, I found this game to be so much more fun when I played Multiplayer with some people who really know DND. Learning to use positioning and the environment has been huge. Understanding how saves work , the strengths and weaknesses of your abilities, when who should do what, when who should speak to whom, that all has made such a difference. I'd love to see you try the game this way. Most importantly, have fun! Nice watching you play today. I haven't watched part 1, but plan on watching through that one as well. Peace :)
There are also a ton of mods on Nexus to alter the game that I became aware of by watching FightingCowboys playthrough of this game from .... changing dice color, expanding how many party members you can have, increase level cap, etc. Always impressed with modders skills doing this enjoy the game BTW Monk is a fun multiclass with Rogue or Barbarians
Mages only wear bracers or robes for armor, unless they cast magical defensive spells and yes IF mages wear armor other than robes or bracers it can cause their spells to fail! Unless they’ve changed things you should be able to improve your skills every couple levels depending on your class. Eventually your mage can learn stronger spells and memorize more the higher your level is.
As a rouge you have infinite money. Sell your crap to trader for gold, buy their crap, then pick pick pocket them to steal gold/items. Just distract trader by starting a conversation with a differnt character, go into turn based mode and interact with them from nehind. Then run like hell!
Just an observation. You miss a lot of interactions and areas in the world. Try clear an area by hugging one side and making your way around. Also hover over people to see talk bubbles. You missed recruiting a companion (Wyll) at the fighter training area in the grove. There are a ton of mini interactions with people.
For your thief or assassin classes always use light armor. That way you get your dexterity bonuses unless it’s magical armor. Heavy armor is nice BUT it negates your dexterity bonuses and gives you penalties for stealth skills!
I hadn't played a D&D game in decades it seems and did several new characters before I was comfortable with my character choice which would be a chaotic neutral Drow fighter/ sorcerer, there is some interesting dialogue options depending on class/race choices and thought it was very weird the Druid Kagha admired the Lolth drow as those are typically viewed as evil by everyone except evil factions, but the devs did a great job hiding story details unless you literally explore everywhere for unknown potential side quests being a loot goblin helps me in that I guess lol
@Brian Menard I’ve played D&D for over 20 years and there’s 308 books in the forgotten realm series. You should read some of them too learn the history of the world and it’s characters! Planescape was introduced to D&D in 3rd edition which is where a lot of the new playable character races are from.
A +5 silver long sword or great sword are wielded by Githyanki and were capable of decapitating a man sized enemy on a natural 20 and triple damage to large and giant creatures on a natural 20!

I wouldnt worry about the choices you make, the game is designed to carry on and will adapt to your choices. Thats what makes this game so bloody good. ps: Evasive Footwork with Riposte is a good combo that works well together.

I have not played D&D since jr. high, which was a LONG TIME AGO. I think that your playing it makes me want to get this game.
If you hear a lot of repeated background talk info then there is definately a useful interaction that will develope the story.

man will you have the part 3? I'm following it like a American series
make sure you talk to more npc's for quests
its really sad that he is not doing the dark urge character , really sad ! he would have enjoyed it since he want to be evil.

Had to stop watching. Got frustrated beyond means from your spend so much time on every decision.
Re-name to Chicken gate or if i don't roll dice i win just give up you are real bad at D&D games
You are a horrible person Brian. Standing by and watching a child be murdered. Off to a strong start. SMH
