Corrections: the Egyptian prince referred to is ʿAbbas Halim (not ʿAbbas Hilmi); Sabri's patron was Ahmad ʿAsim Efendi (not Ahmad ʿAbbas Efendi); Dafʿ shubhat al-tashbih was published in 1926 (not 1927); Bayan zaghl al-ʿilm was published in 1928 (not 1929); Mehmet Akif first featured in the İslâm Ansiklopedisi in 1995 (not 1997); Ibn Taymiyya's al-Risala al-ʿarshiyya was first published in 1925 (not 1926); Libya was invaded in 1911 (not 1912), and when discussing al-Juwayni's views on the caliphate (as I hope is clear from the context), the debate concerns whether it is lawful to have more than one in the whole world.
