An informative listen, thanks! I'm rather biased in favor of the traditional Zoroastrian narrative, but I'm working on that, so I would have liked to hear more discussion on the asserted nuances regarding the treatment of Zoroastrians under Muslim rule. One thing I would like to hear addressed is the significance of living under Shi'a fiqh (which BTW seems to reflect the ritual cleanliness doctrines of Zoroastrianism). Thanks, for example, for bringing up Hasan's treatment of marriage to Zoroastrians, and attempting to explain by way of child custody, etc., but there is a lot more to the matter of the oppression of Zoroastrians who were not generally regarded as Ahl'ul-Kitáb (Zoroastrianism was an oral culture). I guess I'd better read the book, though that one major fault that you point out (assertion of pluralism) appears to reveal a potentially damning lack of objectivity.
I am writing this comment after listening to 2 hours of the podcast, of course, very interesting, informative and splendid. However, I would request Dr. Omar to allow Dr. Usaama to speak. And also, Dr. Usmaama, when you want to ask a question, you need to speak with more clarity. Of course I have huge respect for your academic work. May Allah bless you both.
ʿAlf syukran yā akhī, it truly helps me with my analyses on islamic kitāb. May Allāh rewards you with Jannah al-Firdaws al-ʿAʾlā
Do you mean the salafi tradition or tge the sunni tradition and what's the difference between them ?
Tx, from Ireland, very interesting
Zachary Foster represents A very small voice of the Jews/ Israelis.
Zachary ❤
48:08 Zionism has been aligned with Na zism ever since they both agreed Jews don’t belong in Germany. Stunning logic win.
I disagree with his take on Zionism but I do also believe it is possible to be both pro Israel/zionism and pro Palestine. Ethnic cleansing has never been a party of Zionism and never was. That is Hamas propaganda
Your son's cameo was great! LOL. As to what people can do...I am surprised and dismayed at the seeming lack of interest in the facts on this issue. What I do is share credible information in bites that can be easily digested. I regularly share the posts of the organizations mentioned to give them that boost, but I stay away from the very emotional posts so as to be perceived as clear and to the point and not about manipulation. The other thing is i get information from all kinds of sources but I mainly share sources that are Jewish. I am not Jewish myself.
Young ppl often have a different perspective than others - following different ‘authors authorities - media - social discourse - to rephrase - even The Intercept authors or revisions revisits of the same?? Not? From Connie Nash preparing for short opinion pieces and Substack ( ignore the old auto sign natures that come up ) Later comments here are esp crucial to Actual facts Re influence of AIPACK and Israeli Lobby & Corporate & wealth influence. Lack of UN authority!! Via Connie Nash’s notes to my tentative or PRE-Substack
I enjoyed this conversation, but it would have been better if you would have not kept saying "right" all the time, it made it kind of hard to follow the audio.
Zionism is Nazism.
All these people that are very pro Arab why not leave your Jewish place and emigrate to Jordan or Syria. Wouldn't that be the right thing to do.
I'd rather listen to Dalia Ziada, Loay Alshareef or Dr Hussein Aboubakr Mansour. At least they give a more balanced and realistic account of the war and it's antecedents. Here we have the marriage of Islam and Marxism! It'll come to grief just as it did in the Iranian revolution.
The host keeps muttering over his guest and his questions are as long as his guest's answers. And he interrupts the guest. 😢 Audiences dont like this.
Excellent discussion thank you both🙏🏼 Free 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
The English didn’t want a lot of poor Jews to settle in Britain
Wow. Amazing
dr usama, u r too long winded and repetitive. U need to develop succinct str8-2-d-point questions, please. We can barely understand yr questions. Even yr guest gave occassional eyerolls. We tried to watch and listen, but u lost us at the 30 mins mark. Sorry not sorry.
I see Zachary Foster, I click.
The attack dogs come from the Netherlands
Thank you! Always appreciate listening to intellectuals & facts; not fiction of propaganda
any chance of doing Islamism?
Why not let the guest speak? Why bother having a guest if the host does all the talking?
exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank u, next!!!!!
I was just about to say the same thing! It should definitely be a back & forth, but the host doesn’t seem to know how to do so properly & doesn’t realize how it comes across. He also keeps saying “right right right” & “yeah yeah yeah”, while Zachary’s talking & then cuts him off unnecessarily which makes the conversation flow quite awkwardly. I doubt that we’re the only ones who noticed it. I always learn so much from Zachary & this time was no different. But I couldn’t help but feel frustrated by the host even though he did ask some great questions. He just wouldn’t let him fully answer them! It was just odd.
Legendary reporter from The Intercept, Jeremy Scahill is currently reporting on Hamas on their new project, DropSiteNews ✊ incredibly important deep dive on Hamas - should NOT be missed 👀
Also check out Ilan Pappé's new book 📚 *Lobbying for Zionism on Both Sides of the Atlantic*
I am a baby boomer, non-jew. I lived on a kibbutz when I was 18 for six months and was fed all of the propaganda that Zachary mentions. I followed the politics in the Middle East for decades and my research completely changed my views on Israel. I feel very betrayed by the propaganda and the current actions of Israel and the U.S. government. Last week I left the United States to live in Canada. I had the good fortune to become a Canadian through my Canadian mother. I can no longer be a part of supporting Israel's brutality.
Canada is part of the problem too!! Trudeau also declared himself a Zionist, our human rights lawyer federal Attorney General Arif Virani is hiding and says nothing and seems to be terrified of the issue, our govt is just tagging along with the US. BUT we have the NDP and an excellent brave MP Heather McPherson speaking out for Palestine, bringing motions in Parliament. So we have to keep fighting and pushing the govt here!
Dude … you don’t have to say ‘right right right’ to everything the guest says - it’s annoying to hear
absolutely true!!!!! boring and annoying!!!!
The Jews conduct archaeological excavations, research, and investigations, bringing groundbreaking innovations in science, physics, chemistry, economics, and society. In contrast, their Mus neighbors neglect, commit vandalism, and do not allow questioning, research, or even doubt.
A truely insightful conversation❤❤❤South Africa
The Muslim vote is the most bigoted of the lot - it’s about furthering one community and laying ground work to install a sharia caliphate in Britain! Muslims that’s desire shariah law should not be allowed to work in our parliamentary system, period. Islam is against our culture, traditions and heritage. It’s a manmade attempt at claiming supremacy over other ways of life, and the country needs to wake up to this. Lebanon was the last live example
Maldives banned israeli passport recently
To talk of the West as free of censorship vs. authoritarian states as just serving propaganda, is naive. If fact, in the West population is often more propagandized because they believe their press is free of state interference. Heard of Twitter files ?
Zach, Russians also have the internet and often speak English, and have social media like Telegram ? that is outside state control and chuck full of dissenting and critical views .
great point!
as a catholic canadian i really really enjoyed this conversation between a UK muslim and american jew! we are all palestinian! <3
Quite uk
What a load of absolute nonsense, Leanne Mohammed did not lose because of the greens, she lost because of inept campaign management. You self styled muslim intellectuals are trying to monopolise the muslim vote so you can sell block votes to the big parties in the future potentially earning millions. Leannes shadow campaign manager jalal from the muslim vote didnt utilise the mail drop and thats what lost her the election. Stop trying to spin it as a near win when it was a massive loss. THESE MUSLIM VOTE LOT ARE COMPLETE FRAUDS. In ilford southbthey split the vote by endorsing their mate Noor jahan and then conducted a hustings after they had endorsed her what BS pure corruption. And they enforsed the power hungry noor jahan after she failed in her bid to run for ilford north so the muslim vote and their RCAG mates endorsed her for ilford south splitting the vote and winning jas atwal the seat. Dont trust these people.
When it comes to Sh. Abdul Qadir Jilani RA the Taymis negate his Sufism and major influence on major Islamic leaders like Salahuddin, and Nur Ad-Din and it seems to be so that the Sufis negate the Hanbalism found in his Al-Ghunyah and other works. He was clearly insanely influential both in his school of law (the Hanbali school), and among even the political class of generations after his. Not to mention major Sufis that influenced even thinkers like Imam Al-Ghazali RA like Imam Abul Hasan Hankari RA who lived a hundred years prior to him and according to his biography had many many students even the teacher of Sh. Abdul Qadir Jilani RA Imam Makhzoomi RA.
thanks You, Brother. Finally, I find my needed font
Characteristically valuable review. Thanks for this. I ordered the book and I guess CB owes you a cut! Thanks, and greetings to you both.

Sir, caliphate in 21st century exists in the form of OIC with headquarter in Riyadh S Arab. Yes there is some difference in the form of autonomy of OIC member countries. But this is as per the changes in 21st century political landscape.
Very interesting!
Phenomenal listen! One thing I recalled while listening to this is an anecdote Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl mentioned in his tafsir of Surah Al-Jinn: one of the local imams in Egypt he knew of said that the most requests for ruqyah came from the guards who tortured inmates in prisons. th-cam.com/video/iPmm4QUfJpc/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Welcome back, Dr. Usaama. Jazakum Allah khair for uploading this.

I am so grateful! Allah bless you. I rely on diacritics for transliteration purposes but am not tech savvy. Found your video on Yawmul Jumuʿah (with diacritics).
