Thanks for this.Did you use a gasket or sealer on valve cover?Any idea what would cause my 9.9 to stall when putting into gear?

No sealer used and usually isn't on a head of valve cover, just the gasket. I would guess a stall when putting into gear is a fuel/air mixture problem, clean the carb.

Thanks. Appreciate it. Do you know what the initial settings should be on the idle and the air mixture screws should be?I don’t have a book for it. Do you know what size adapter I would need for a compression test. Only have standard size I use on my Evinrude?

how did you release the timing belt off the smaller gear without removing any of the flywheel?

I just slid it up off the gear. Make sure you mark location of small gear to flywheel so your timing is correct. I give quite a bit of content/comment on the valve timing in video.

My 2004 9.9 Yamaha has oil coming out front 2 port holes on back of motor. I think one is the exhaust, not sure. Where is my leak coming from

Back of motor is the head, so perhaps valve cover. The exhaust manifold is on the opposite side of engine from the carb.

Any idea how much this job would cost to have done?
