      Hey thanks for checking it out, glad you found the surf fishing one after and saw me actually catch a fish haha. Though tbh most of my videos I get skunked, but I love the journey anyway :). I'll go check you out as well, but I can only imagine the quality of fish you get into over there!

    Some great info about the dangers of a river. Very important

    • @RosinFlyFishing
      @RosinFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this river is silly. It probably shouldn't be legal to fish certain areas and the dam releases should be more strictly managed and communicated.

    I love how you are exploring up the river more , about 20-30 minute walk farther up there is a hubby hole. If I ever see you I’ll show you some time.

      I've been staring at this comment multiple times trying to figure out what hubby hole means lol. Just clicked you probably meant honey hole. TH-cam autocorrected because they don't want others to know 😂. I'd love to meet up and fish a new spot, hit me up on Instagram!

    you are more likely to catch steelhead further up towards the hatchery. i have only hooked into a single steelie below the highway but have caught a bunch at dogleg and have seen lots of other caught at dogleg and cable as well. the summers should be coming in any time though so you could get lucky and catch one migrating up river in the lower sections. some coho in the river right now as well.

      Thanks Goats! Lot's of reports of steel and tried sight fishing some small coho by the Cable steps this morning. They are too smart for what I tried today 😉. Thanks for the info! Hope to see you out there sometime!

    One thing I’m trying to figure out is casting to faster water but avoiding the drag of slower water on the floating line. For example, the honey hole under the bridge- I wonder if you’d have better luck fishing the fast water by crossing to the other side of the river. The fish are smart, if they see the fly travelling a different speed than other food or bubbles, they’re less likely to bite.

    • @RosinFlyFishing
      @RosinFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah for sure that drag is a dagger for fishy presentation. I'm developing more respect for river crossings these days but you're right about that northern pool and it can be crossed when the water is low like in this video. I'm also learning how to feed line into the eddy so that the drag is almost minimal!!

    I dunno. I've never liked a flotation device that requires a manual action to be a flotation device. It's not actually a flotation device until you activate that. You can see in your own videos how crazy people are in the canyon area. As if one could never slip! Well yearly people die in that river and it's pretty obvious why. No safety precautions. I would be curious how your infateable works when you are fully clothed, weighed down, slip into a canyon pool, which would put you under the water. You want to find the pully in a mad panic and hope it inflates and has enough flotation to pop you back up above the water? I'm well versed in rivers. You are a lot wiser about the Capilano now but most people are not. One of those spots you were on, that's the perfect spot to get stranded because the river goes in behind you. Many a rescue of guys stuck on that island. Great spot, never worth it in my mind for that very reason.

    • @RosinFlyFishing
      @RosinFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% you are right. A normal life jacket is far more safe. I can actually manually inflate and deflate this one and if I was on a boat or fishing Cap on a bad flow day I would. I normally don't on an average Cap day since my fishing vest fits over the deflated device nicely. But it's a shot in the dark to inflate it if the water was running fast and I fell in, so you're right about that too. So few people wear anything or consider the dangers it's actually terrifying, it should probably be illegal to fish during dam releases for safety reasons. Not sure how that could be implemented but man the restrictions and efforts for awareness should be much more severe to keep people safe.

    • @user-wl7dt1uw2e
      @user-wl7dt1uw2e 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RosinFlyFishing Thanks. I have no idea these days what inflatable vests they have these days. I know a lot of people use the pulley ones. I always think of river fishing differently than anything else. That one spot under the bridge is actually the worst because there is a dry river channel running along the bank. So when the water comes up, that becomes a branch of the river and people fishing don't realize they are basically trapped on that island until it's too late. The alarm system on that river is very new only because of an accidental dam release which washed a father and son away, among others who barely escaped. That said, it's so easy to slip when fishing and honestly there is nowhere in that canyon where a person is going to grab onto once you're in the water. But of course most people clearly don't consider the what ifs. The mouth used to be so much fun up until really it has become a seal swimming pool and feeding ground. I've seen fish literally jump onto the rocks to get away from the seals. Just not sure any of those fish around the mouth bite anymore. Disappointing for sure.

    I just want to say, as someone who knows someone who died on this river, I find this title to be quite bad taste.. Profiting off the deaths of others so you can add some clicks... Disrespectful.

    • @RosinFlyFishing
      @RosinFlyFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm genuinely very sorry for your loss. It's been a while since I looked at this title and after considering what you said I would like to apologize. I was anthropomorphizing the river because of how dangerous it is, which remains something I want to focus on with the title so that people click in and can get a sense of why I wear a PFD fishing here even when water is low. I have changed the language. I do think the dangers of this river can't be emphasized enough, it's very dangerous and very popular and a lot of people don't know about the dam releases or the destructive power of this river. Imo, everyone fishing here should always wear a PFD but especially in fall/rainy seasons
