  • Just bought this brand new lawn tractor at Home Depot with 2-day Delivery for free.
    www.homedepot.com/p/Murray-MT...
    Overall, pretty happy with this purchase so far but we’ll see how long it lasts.
    Update: I was able to hit a top speed of 6 mph after a few uses. It also no longer backfires. Maybe it just took some time for the oil/engine to settle in or something. I’m not sure.
    I am by no means an expert in lawn care. Just an average home owner who occasionally mows the lawn. This is a huge upgrade from my push mower!

    Hey John I'm Brendon your engine is popping because you put it on choke put it at full throttle that's where you should mow at cause you gotta keep your engine nice and cool you have a flywheel fan that's supposed to spin at 3600 rpm and also your blades are designed to spin at their full potential to kick crap out your discharge chute.

      Agreed, John, you should feel a detent on the throttle where you should be running the engine when mowing, no matter what gear you select, the engine should be running at that high speed. Thanks for posting.

    Thinking about picking one up tomorrow, would you recommend for less than 2 acre lot

    • @JohnJuneJuly
      @JohnJuneJuly  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s suggested for 2 acres or less on their site.
      But, for me, If you’re close to 2 acres I’d suggest a zero turn if possible. They’re so much quicker.
      If budget is tight, this will do the job fine but slower. Takes me 15-20 mins for .35 acres for reference

    Hey is the mt200 worth the cost or should i hold off and get a ts248xd husqvarna im just mainly looking for a lawn tractor for towing my lawn cart sprayer and manure spreader and possibly my little flip disc harrow thats less than 180 pounds. Is the mower some what sturdy and power struggles? The most weight I'm towing is less than 300 pounds

    • @JohnJuneJuly

      Personally, I think this is only a starter lawn mower. Perfect for small lawns under 1 acre. Does the job in good time. Can’t vouch for the motor’s longevity but it performs as needed.
      If I had 1 acre or more I’d definitely just say save up for a zero turn. But I’m happy with this one and would make the same purchase again for my needs

      @JohnJuneJuly I have closer to a. Acnre of land and I had a old troy bilt 28 inch rear engine mower I used to culvate my garden beds that are about 10 x 20 feet it did okay the wheels were to small in a since. But hoesntly a zero doesn't fill all the categories that a lawn tractor does for me and also with a little further think I'm probably going to spend the extra 1500 and get a ts48xd husqvarna. Thank you for the review

      It’s been almost 10 months and it’s still behaves like new! No problems with motor or blades yet with low maintenance. I’d only suggest this mower for 1 acre or less since it’s not as fast as a zero turn mower. But it will do the job at a fair speed

    • @JohnJuneJuly
      @JohnJuneJuly  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I suggest keeping blades sharp and setting your blades to cut higher. It’ll allow your mower to be more efficient if you want to cut at maximum speed.

      it sounds like the choke is engaged. does it have manual or auto choke? funny, most manufacturers and retailers will reveal that information in the specifications but for that mower, they keep that information hidden for some reason, just like the transmission. fuckers. that mower must be a piece of shit and they just don't want people to know it.

    • @JohnJuneJuly
      @JohnJuneJuly  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It just has forward or reverse mode. You only control the speed and press the brakes. Once you shift it into gear, it’ll just begin moving

    • @CoolBlue87GT
      @CoolBlue87GT 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The MT200 model has a gas pedal and automatic trans, The MT100 (shown here) has a manual trans and gear selector and a throttle that controls the speed. The brake pedal serves as the clutch and brake in one. I prefer the mowers without the gas pedal, so you don't have to keep a foot on the gas for hours at a time.

    I think it's funny that NOBODY knows what kind of transmission it has. Is it a hydrostatic, gear, or plastic variable pulley transmission? Even Murray doesn't know. There's no mention of it on their website, and if you ask them, they don't know. The Home Depot website lists all the specifications of the mower EXCEPT the transmission.
    Oh well, it doesn't really matter anyway because that mower will be discontinued soon. Home Depot just released a policy statement last week saying they intend to stop selling gas powered mowers over the next few years. Since home depot is the only store that sells that mower, it will have to be discontinued.
