Agreed, the lighting and environments mostly hold up but the character and weapon models look like shit. All the weapons look like they're toys and the human models have aged terribly
If 343 wants to revive halo, they need to remaster halo 3 for new gen only and improve upon everything graphically for next gen standards (raytracing, ect) and add good matchmaking with plenty of playlists off the bat, along with a good forge like infinite, and custom games. But make it play very smooth
3 anniversary would be a great morale boost for the fandom and gain the respect of industry again A nostalgia bait 2000s influenced ad campaign would bring older fans It would also fill up some time between infinite and halo 7 so 343 can have enough time for the development The game could be popular it’s just a matter of Microsoft correctly marketing the game (halo 5 and bungie era should be an example)
If MS had any sense right now given the state of Halo, if they did a H2A treatment of Halo 3, it'd sell absolutely millions... Gamers who no longer play halo would come back and play it because of nostalgia alone and H3 is set right now for a return to form given an anniversary edition due to the general fps genre getting stale with all the 'modern mechanics' so every title feels identical. Give H3A a chance Micrsoft / 343, think of the money you'd be printing. But also - let it cook, dont bring it out unfinished and broken.
We didn't think Halo 2 needed it when Halo CE anniversary came out. So i can easily see a Halo 3 anniversary edition being a thing. With Halo infinite graphics and maybe even Unreal Engine 5.
If they remade it with proper social integration, with the service records, the file share, it would hit like nothing else Part of the success of Halo 3 was the social aspects of it Bring back Forge, let the players create new modes and map, completely remaster the best campaign in the series with improved character and gun models and you’ve got a recipe for a perfect recreation of probably the best game ever in my mind
Short answer is no. It would be nice and you could make cases as to why it should happen but this game is quite perfect and does not need it. I can’t even imagine what they could do to improve it without accidentally making something worse
Favourite Halo 3 memory would probably be the first time I loaded up a multiplayer match, spawned into Guardian and was just so excited to shoot plasma and yeet nades around! That or playing Duck Hunt in customs.
I’m super nostalgic about my memories of CE through Reach but let’s just face the facts, halo as a franchise is done. Infinite was the last hope at living on in a new generation while still feeling like halo and 343 botched it
Resident Evil 4's story was as cheesy as Halo 3's story. But RE4 enhanced it with the remake. I want same to be done with the Halo 3 Remake. If they ever make a Halo 3 Remake, I hope it enhances the writing and characters (like prophet of truth to make him like his Halo 2 character arc), but still keeps some of the cheesy dialog. Like Miranda saying"To war" and the shipmaster saying "Then it is an even fight". Like you said, Arrash, Halo 3 Remake can be a testing ground for old school mechanics. Also it can be a testing ground for Unreal Engine 5.
I don’t think we really need H3A. I would however like to see more content added to MCC. In particular the rest of the Halo Online maps/content, and maps created with the mod tools like Dynamis and Homefront that where designed to adhere to the vanilla multiplayer sandbox. Would also like to see stuff for the other games like all the cut content the Digsite team is restoring. I really hope they’re working on mod support for console as well. Still tons and tons of stuff the can add to MCC. Hope they keep supporting it.
Halo 3 holds up amazingly well visually. The only way a H3A would be worthwhile is if it made gameplay changes, which nobody would want. i'd much rather the dev resources go to Halo 7, a spinoff, or even a CE reimagining that totally redoes the gameplay and level design
Nah 3 holds up well visually It's a gigantic waste of developer time, resources, and money. Would rather have a new game with new ideas than remastering a great campaign with flawed writing we played a billion times.
@@Rob-b2q8p well, if all you're looking for is to play the same formulaic game over and over again with updated graphics then I would say that limited thinking is part of the problem. @@blaze556922 You can add stuff to the game without breaking the code mechanics. Playing the same game that exists is fine, but at a certain point classic players want new experiences too. The game built popularity in classic feel. The first three halo’s were top selling x box titles. That had not happened since. If halo MCC wasn’t butchered so badly from launch it would of had a massive following. Hell, it was not until 2019 that halo mcc came to pc and in 2 days there were 2 million downloads. The demand for a classic halo game is there. Classic halo was a niche that no other game had. Halo literally had the competitive advantage! But they gave it away to make games that quite frankly feel like a lot of other shooters I can play, and halos carbon copy just isn’t as good. Now do I trust 343 to actually make a good classic halo? Probably not. But it’s honestly the only thing that could save this franchise. All of their releases have not lived up to the expectations created by halo 1-3. Why not go back to what made the games popular? A game with a classic feel would be so different from all other games rn that it would spark interest. On top of that there are millions of people that grew up with classic halo that would love one last hurrah.
If you asked me a few years ago, I'd say no. But now? I'd take anything, man. So long as it's just the original game with a fresh coat of paint with no changes, I'm down.
I reckon it'd look beautiful if Halo 2 Anniversary is anything to go by and it could maybe be better given how it's the most beloved so would receive the most care. I've heard they won't do it because if it went poorly/didn't turn out well then the community backlash would be monumental. At the end of the day I'd love it to happen and if people don't like it, there's still the original there just as people remember it.

Halo 3 and ODST Anniversary with modern graphics (don’t change designs like everything in CEA or 2A Elites) with the return of all content along with MCC additions. For instance, Mirage armor in Anniversary multiplayer or ODST weapons in 3. I am unsure if they should bring back original Halo 3 and ODST multiplayer/Firefight but if they do then it must be cross play with MCC. Anniversary multiplayer, Forge, and Firefight should bring back everything and more. They could add things such as the ability to switch seats and aassassinations as toggleable features. They can improve Miranda’s death or have her survive for a rebooted Halo 4. Cut missions could become unlocked once the campaign is finished. Halo needs a big release that has more content than the content complete games prior to Halo 4. MCC was broken for so long (still has some worse aspects than original verisons), Halo 5 was incomplete, and Infinite was somehow more incomplete and is updated less than 5. A rebooted timeline can right the wrongs of 343’s era and can incorporate the best elements of Bungie’s plan as well as some 343 stuff. Though, Infinite should still receive support until its content complete and MCC must receive mods on console. I believe by marketing MCC mod support on console and PC, Halo 3 and ODST Anniversary (followed by a rebooted Halo 4 and onwards), and Infinite becoming content complete then Halo can be revitalized. This must be prioritized over spin-offs without the Master Chief since Steve Downes is getting older. Spin-offs can still happen but not at the expense of the rebooted Halo 4, 5, and 6.
I like to think of the story of Halo 4 and so on is set apart from the original time line which I dub the "343 Timeline" and consider everything after H3 non canon.
Halo 3 anniversary would be a small win. After that, i think it would be good for 343 to make the levels that had to be cut from the the trilogy that fit the gameplay of the original games. Then 343 may have the right feel for what they should aim to replicate going forward. The gameplay is waaaaay too fast in multiplayer. Slow it down, no more sprint
I would pay a easy 100 bucks for a super high quality anniversary edition remade with movie quality graphics. They don't have to change anything just make the graphics across the board as good as we can. The cinematic experience with the halo games was a massive reason we loved them. The story was so good I remember running through the game numerous times just to watch it like a movie. The multiple player was great fun and so was the campaign with skulls. The only thing I'd ever change would be adding sprint too the characters in all the old campaigns but otherwise leave it alone and just give it a makeover.
remaking the cutscenes avoid the realism that H2A went with Cortana and Miranda via the crows feet they gave them bleh, the 2 most prominent women of Halo looking like middle aged women despite OG looking in their 20s, "Halo doesnt need sex to sell well" some game journalist who hates women despite trying to label as feminist , it does every game does to a certain extent, every fantasy you want to get big needs it otherwise whats the point, you need hyper masculine suchas Chief and the UNSC or the Covenant given the situation of war, you aint gonna win with feelings and compassion, and if the ladies can show tough guy traits and femininity as well by appearance or chatter, Halo 2 og did this with the female marines ready to kill as much as any of the others, so give them their advantage and dont strip them of it ever otherwise its a sausage fest that no one asked for, so with Cortana and Miranda as the faces for the women in Halo kicking ass and looking as hot as ever can tell anyone playing it aint just the boys saving the galaxy ladies do it too, so everyone can do it so why not look your absolute best in a fantasy world keep the realistic features in the real world and let me embrace these characters how they were meant to be and not to make some journalists feel validated for a game they play for a few hours and rant about online, if you want to pander how about pandering to those who buy your games and play it for hours on end and not to those who play and move on
If i had to choose, I'd say I don't want a Halo 3A. But if we would get one then things I'd like are: >Include some of the cut missions and other cut content, >16ish mp maps swapping out some of the unpopular maps with either remixed versions or remake some other popular H2 maps, and expanded versions of Foundry and Sandbox as forge canvases in addition to a blank space canvas. >ALL of the H3 gamemodes with all or more configurations for them, throw in gamemodes for Invasion, Race and Total Control. >Upgraded Forge whether that be a functional version of Infinite or even just Halo 4's forge I'm ok with. >Custom games browser. >Halo 3 firefight (maybe add the unpopular H3 mp maps here lol), >keep the Halo 3 progression/ranking system >KEEP HALO 3's MAP VETO SYSTEM! >Keep the Halo 3 iconic lighting.
I do understand the hesitation by the community of holding back on a Halo 3 Anniversary. However, I feel like it solely needed now more than ever. With the fall of 343 and Halo Infinite and the hard restructuring and reboot of the Halo franchise I think this would be a big way to do a place holder. A place holder that can win back the community and give us a game we know and love and that will feel and play like Halo. While these teams than will start working on the next Halo title in the current timeline or if they retcon they other games now. The point being they could easily make Halo relevant again in a easy path. But obviously take it with a grain of salt as 343 and whatever left of that team in Microsoft has failed us time and time again could just as easily release a rushed product.
Halo 3 needs to be remastered, but not because the original looks bad (outside of a few exceptions), but because Halo needs a game that goes back to the original gameplay a ton of fans have been pushing for ever since 343 took over the franchise. Realistically, it would have to be a standalone release. MCC doesn't have enough space left to shove another remaster on it, even if it's for an existing game in the collection. And attempting to do so would just result in shortcuts being made like what was done with CEA's Reach DLC or H2A MP only having 6-7 maps. Also, the remastered MP cannot use the OG MP's engine/netcode, it's too dated for it to be enjoyable for modern audiences. Instead it should either use a totally new engine built from the ground-up, or a heavily modified version of Infinite's engine, emphasis on "heavily modified" because that game was probably coded horrendously with how bad some of its technical issues are. However, with a newer engine should come a modernized Forge, on par with Infinite or better, but with an option to simplify controls to accurately match how they were in earlier games. That being said, the H3A package could realistically offer the OG MP in addition to remastered MP which could then have cross-compatibility with MCC. Even online co-op campaign could be compatible with MCC, although MCC users won't be able to swap to anniversary graphics like H3A users could, which isn't really a dealbreaker. And while not necessary, tossing in remastered ODST Campaign and Firefight would also be pretty nice, especially with cross-compatibility with MCC as was mentioned with H3A co-op campaign. All of this is probably too ambitious though, especially for 343. But like it or not this is the best case scenario for a H3A release.
What a great video. It seems like such an easy win to remake Halo 3 in all its glory. Update/upscale textures, add ray tracing, forge mode+ (this should be the main focus post launch imo) Maybe better AI for the campaign and extra Easter eggs? But you really can’t forget the website to share stats + content via the photo/video modes. I still find it so hard to believe a game from my childhood had more content, care and community than AAA games today. It’s like there’s really no passion for gaming anymore.
I don’t think 343 will ever do a halo 3 anniversary, they want nothing to do with any of bungies games and want to prove to everyone that they are capable of making good halo games which clearly they’re not
I dont want them to do that, Halo 3 is the only game I'd ever give a 10/10, and I worry that they would fuck it up again like Infinite. Imagine we're waiting on the release date, and boom - launching without Forge or customs browser. Or file share. Or pre and post game lobbies. Or Community tab. Or infection. Or fucking split screen co-op for Christ's sakes. Halo 3 should never be touched because they will NEVER catch lightning in a bottle like that again. If they ever attempt a remake like this, it could either pay off MASSIVELY or backfire HORRIFICALLY. If they tarnished Halo 3, the best in the entire series, I would 100% be done with Halo for good.

Agreed, the lighting and environments mostly hold up but the character and weapon models look like shit. All the weapons look like they're toys and the human models have aged terribly
@@nagger8216 Halo 3 is my favourite game of all time and despite going back to it each year, I find that the character models have aged terribly haha
If 343 wants to revive halo, they need to remaster halo 3 for new gen only and improve upon everything graphically for next gen standards (raytracing, ect) and add good matchmaking with plenty of playlists off the bat, along with a good forge like infinite, and custom games. But make it play very smooth
I kind of would prefer 343 not touch another halo game again
Not from 343 we don't
Fuck an anniversary, they release divorces
343 are a different studio from 3 months ago
3 anniversary would be a great morale boost for the fandom and gain the respect of industry again
A nostalgia bait 2000s influenced ad campaign would bring older fans
It would also fill up some time between infinite and halo 7 so 343 can have enough time for the development
The game could be popular it’s just a matter of Microsoft correctly marketing the game (halo 5 and bungie era should be an example)
Halo 3 anniversary and another quality spinoff game would slap
@@will4706 For a spin-off i hope to god it would either be remastered ODST or an ODST 2

No but seriously main menu with never forgot playing gets me every time
If MS had any sense right now given the state of Halo, if they did a H2A treatment of Halo 3, it'd sell absolutely millions...
Best Halo 3 moment: When Burger was doing a Halo 3 #ad and Mountain Dew along with Slurp Cups
We didn't think Halo 2 needed it when Halo CE anniversary came out. So i can easily see a Halo 3 anniversary edition being a thing. With Halo infinite graphics and maybe even Unreal Engine 5.
If they remade it with proper social integration, with the service records, the file share, it would hit like nothing else
Part of the success of Halo 3 was the social aspects of it
Bring back Forge, let the players create new modes and map, completely remaster the best campaign in the series with improved character and gun models and you’ve got a recipe for a perfect recreation of probably the best game ever in my mind
343i and not fucking up a halo game? Doubt
343 are a different studio from 3 months ago
It’s aging slower then the other games. But could 100% benefit from the anniversary treatment.
Yo, you genuinley make great videos. You might get discouraged at some point but please dont stop, theres something good here
0:43 wow... just before watching this video i was playing as the OberKommando in Company of heroes....Hats off to that guy
Short answer is no. It would be nice and you could make cases as to why it should happen but this game is quite perfect and does not need it. I can’t even imagine what they could do to improve it without accidentally making something worse
Fave halo memories r obsessing over recon armor and playing a variety of custom games for hrs on end
Such a good time 😍
Favourite Halo 3 memory would probably be the first time I loaded up a multiplayer match, spawned into Guardian and was just so excited to shoot plasma and yeet nades around! That or playing Duck Hunt in customs.
I’m super nostalgic about my memories of CE through Reach but let’s just face the facts, halo as a franchise is done. Infinite was the last hope at living on in a new generation while still feeling like halo and 343 botched it
Honestly, halo 3 cutscenes with halo 2 anniversary style cutscenes would be the best thing ever
If there were to be a Halo 3 anniversary project, frankly it should just be a graphics and overlay option in MCC that you can turn on/off at any time.
I just want a good halo again without loot boxes
I don’t think we really need H3A. I would however like to see more content added to MCC. In particular the rest of the Halo Online maps/content, and maps created with the mod tools like Dynamis and Homefront that where designed to adhere to the vanilla multiplayer sandbox. Would also like to see stuff for the other games like all the cut content the Digsite team is restoring. I really hope they’re working on mod support for console as well. Still tons and tons of stuff the can add to MCC. Hope they keep supporting it.
They are not adding Diamond back
H3A would be added to MCC
Halo 3 holds up amazingly well visually. The only way a H3A would be worthwhile is if it made gameplay changes, which nobody would want. i'd much rather the dev resources go to Halo 7, a spinoff, or even a CE reimagining that totally redoes the gameplay and level design
I want Halo 5 anniversary for the campaign we never had
PC port would be nice. They already ported the Forge to PC anyway.
@@_MaZTeR_ tbf I wanna try halo 5 for myself to see what made the campaign terrible, they should port it, I'll pay for it 😛
Nah
3 holds up well visually
It's a gigantic waste of developer time, resources, and money.
Would rather have a new game with new ideas than remastering a great campaign with flawed writing we played a billion times.
Yes yes and yes! Many feel this was the pinnacle of gaming but I'd say Reach was the best.
Reach was the downfall of halo. It wasn’t a bad game. But it strayed too far away from the formula
@@Rob-b2q8p well, if all you're looking for is to play the same formulaic game over and over again with updated graphics then I would say that limited thinking is part of the problem. What I don't like is that if you loved an old version of a game, you could just keep playing it, whereas with multiplayer games they will fade away after a few years.
@@blaze556922
You can add stuff to the game without breaking the code mechanics.
It would be a disaster.
- broken launch that would take them a year to fix
- missing features
- cringe art style and armor
- unfitting sound design
- a butchered 1-50 rank system

Fully fledged forge mode in H3 would be awesome
God yes, the ability to do what we can in halo 5 and infinite with halo 3 maps would be awesome.
The RANKKKSS OMG Have a 50 at that time was one of the best achievements you can have
I like to think of the story of Halo 4 and so on is set apart from the original time line which I dub the "343 Timeline" and consider everything after H3 non canon.
The debates of having sprint or not is the dumbest debate ever known
Does it need? Perhaps not. Does it deserve? Absolutely yes.
Halo 3 was my first Halo game when I was pretty young, an anniversary would be so awesome
Wow I didn't know Halo 3 Anniversary was in the works, thanks for the Halo news update once again!
Its not.
@@PastryMagicYT wooooosh
If there was to be an anniversary edition I would be most excited to see the flood infection. I need to see a proper flood transformation in high def.
As someone who barely plays multiplayer, h2a was absolutely perfect. The blur cutscenes are peak halo.
All Halo 3 needs is remastered Cutscenes and some updated character models. Graphic wise it’s aged beautifully
I think a good solution is to just give the campaign a nice touch up. Redo cutscenes, change assets and sounds etc.
remaking the cutscenes avoid the realism that H2A went with Cortana and Miranda via the crows feet they gave them bleh, the 2 most prominent women of Halo looking like middle aged women despite OG looking in their 20s, "Halo doesnt need sex to sell well" some game journalist who hates women despite trying to label as feminist , it does every game does to a certain extent, every fantasy you want to get big needs it otherwise whats the point, you need hyper masculine suchas Chief and the UNSC or the Covenant given the situation of war, you aint gonna win with feelings and compassion, and if the ladies can show tough guy traits and femininity as well by appearance or chatter, Halo 2 og did this with the female marines ready to kill as much as any of the others, so give them their advantage and dont strip them of it ever otherwise its a sausage fest that no one asked for, so with Cortana and Miranda as the faces for the women in Halo kicking ass and looking as hot as ever can tell anyone playing it aint just the boys saving the galaxy ladies do it too, so everyone can do it so why not look your absolute best in a fantasy world keep the realistic features in the real world and let me embrace these characters how they were meant to be and not to make some journalists feel validated for a game they play for a few hours and rant about online, if you want to pander how about pandering to those who buy your games and play it for hours on end and not to those who play and move on
Only reason not to do this is that they will probably fuck it up.
If i had to choose, I'd say I don't want a Halo 3A.
But if we would get one then things I'd like are:
>Include some of the cut missions and other cut content,
>16ish mp maps swapping out some of the unpopular maps with either remixed versions or remake some other popular H2 maps, and expanded versions of Foundry and Sandbox as forge canvases in addition to a blank space canvas.
>ALL of the H3 gamemodes with all or more configurations for them, throw in gamemodes for Invasion, Race and Total Control.
>Upgraded Forge whether that be a functional version of Infinite or even just Halo 4's forge I'm ok with.
>Custom games browser.
>Halo 3 firefight (maybe add the unpopular H3 mp maps here lol),
>keep the Halo 3 progression/ranking system
>KEEP HALO 3's MAP VETO SYSTEM!
>Keep the Halo 3 iconic lighting.
I always thought that Halo 3 had good enough graphics and sound that it just doesn't need a remaster to begin with.
Mabey for the campaign
I hope they do halo 3 is the G. O. A. T.
343 are a different studio from 3 months ago
343 created the Halo CE anniversary playlist and all of halo Reaches DLC
I'd be happy with a halo 3 remake if they fixed the god awful bullet mechanics and net code.
What a great video. It seems like such an easy win to remake Halo 3 in all its glory. Update/upscale textures, add ray tracing, forge mode+ (this should be the main focus post launch imo)
Maybe better AI for the campaign and extra Easter eggs?
But you really can’t forget the website to share stats + content via the photo/video modes.
I still find it so hard to believe a game from my childhood had more content, care and community than AAA games today. It’s like there’s really no passion for gaming anymore.
The fact that you're questioning it means you already know the answer.
All it would need is the return of 2v2v2v2 along with the ability to refill a slot if someone quits and it would be an 11/10 game in my books.
It can also bring back many people 343 pushed away with their mishaps.
Don't forget it HAS to have splitscreen supoort. 343 has fumbled that bag time and time again.
We don't "need" a Halo 3 remaster, but I certainly want one.
I don't think Halo 3 NEEDS one since I personally think it aged very well, however I would love to see what an updated Halo 3 would look like.
How dare you throw shade on Standoff
It deserves it
Standoff is one of my favorite maps, and is iconic to a lot of forge gamemodes too. Getting rid of it would be a huge mistake
