It's still wild to me that there's a lot of people who don't know about this trick with the cover.
The play-by-play at the end of the Covenant was a gut-buster; had me laughing afterward for like a minute
Tank strats on ark are based, covie tank strats also based. If only this frog wasnt a tortoise.

I remember doing this achievement a while ago with my 3 other friends, we were up until 4am on this (in my time zone anyway) and I’d do it again. It wasn’t stressful or anything, just pure fun while we were joking around and we got it first try.
Getting it in multiplayer is also easier just due to the fact you can have 3 players attempt to run past everything and one hang back to spawn their buddies. Even if you don't and just run in all together, 4 players is 3 extra players worth of firepower and running

Floodgate is so fun to run through, idk anything about the speedrunning tricks but I can usually get it in 6 ish minutes now

On the Ark I love wedging a chopper into the building at the latter half of the mission. Always fun just running over the Brute Chieftain with a Chopper

I dont speed run at all, but I'm definitely adopting some of these tricks. Especially for Tsavo highway. I die way too easily in the vehicle segments. Even on Heroic
Love that the AA wraith is actually completely useless against banshees.
They're useless against your hornet too unless you're stupid enough to hold perfectly still for like 10 seconds while the fuel rods slowly meander in your general direction.
Haha, yup...but I was doing the aa wraith glitch since damn near day 1, and never had an issue with banshees like that

Halo 3 is great overall but omg i should prob learn the real route for that level too
Yeah once I learned the Cortana speed run routes, it’s much, much more tolerable. Still sucks cuz of the Gravemind/cortana talking parts, but it makes the level a lot better.
Werrd to that. Waaay back in '08, I decided out of nowhere to do a solo legendary full game walkthrough, killing every single enemy & 100% clearing every section, before moving on
Aand iirc, the game didn't even differentiate between doing it co-op, or solo back then
I was soo fully stoked to see mcc show it, when I 1st signed in
Oh yeah, btw...my best trick for doing cortana the completenist way, was to go into the little side tunnels (or any area you can make into a tight corner with side cover) & block 1 end/side with a deployable cover
Aand just work from the open end
I grew up on Halo 3. I have never tried speed running it, and I haven't even tried it on legendary (yet). It is SO COOL to me to see tricks I never knew about in a game that I've been playing for YEARS.

On The Ark, I gave my sniper to one of the marines and he absolutely cleaned up, especially against choppers and ghosts.
Statistically speaking. There’s probably someone out there who lost the achievement by only a minute or two. Meaning they would have gotten it if not for Cortana and the Gravemind blocking them whenever they talk

I never knew you could jump in the river in Sierra 117 and i played halo 3 so much on release and the years after
these under seem pretty hard, then i remember me and my friend finished ODST under 3 hours on legendary with it being her first time playing it
that one is extremely easy, yeah. every ODST level before Data Hive is pretty short, and it doesn't even count your time on Mombasa Streets.

On Crow's Nest after you hammer-jump the water over to the elevator, if you haul ass off the elevator you can jump onto the Pelican, then jump off onto the roof of the upper area. Then you can grenade-dump onto the brutes up there as soon as they spawn, makes it much easier

Man the first time I ever beat legendary was tough. My best was like 45 min and the Cortana level took me 2 hours 😅. Speed running is so cool. I could never do it but you guys are always amazing to watch!
I love how inside the halo 3 community, whenever the words sniper and no scope get brought up, people always reference fatrat.

What I do at the last section of floodgate is run on the right side and ignore everyone. I jump down when I pass the battle rifle on the ground and go up the ramp seen at 8:22, then use a regenerator once I pass the cube box and then run past the last group of enemies. The final group of pure forms at the foot of the ramp made from ship debris can be a hassle occasionally but I keep a hammer with me to kill them easily if I have to. At the start of the mission, when you first turn left and find a dead brute, one spawns between the two yellow things. Overall it is a very easy, safe, and effective strategy
I also like to skip the group of enemies under the turret at 8:59 by jumping up some rocks right next to it's left leg
only achievement like this i have actually gotten is odst, me and my 3 other mates SOMEHOW doing literally a casual run on legendary we did it under 3 hours i was so shocked.
also a fun fact about me and tsavo highway i got the par time achievement while me and my buddy were ON FOOT THE ENTIRE MISSION

playing the Storm on Legendary I died just as many times in the rocket mongoose section to my own marines as I did to the covies.
They just love shooting the ground in front of them. But as soon as they have a clear shot they refuse to shoot. Love to see it.
Frog has become one of my favorite Halo TH-camrs, mainly because he does things other then bitch about the games 24/7
I did this achievement awhile back and it was a ton of fun. Had no idea about the mongoose scarab skip on The Storm, I always did the grav lift jump onto it.

Giving a marine that spartan laser is crucial on the covenant mission makes the mission so much easier I carried that laser until the end of the level
Me and my brother got this achievement in co-op by literally steamrolling every enemy. No speedrunning tricks needed. God I love Halo couch co-op
Just so you know at 11:54 you can change it from the awful MCC control scheme back to the original Halo 3 control scheme by switching the “Hornet Control” setting in the Halo 3 controls from “Button” to “Thumbstick”. Hard agree that the change to the A button is stupid because it means you can’t aim your guns while ascending anymore. Hope this helps :)

I'm shocked you didn't just do the fuel rod jump on Halo instead of the grenade+hammer one. As long as you run a straight line there, its consistent and safe!

I legit learned the speedrun strat for cortana specifically so i could beat the game on legendary. I only speedrun that level now

I tried beating halo 3 with all skulls active except the granades one and the one that keeps you from aiming and i think theres a skull that slows you down. So maybe i turned 3 skulls off i got all the way to the ark
So I beat halo CE on legendary a long time ago, but never h2, or h3. I get impatient and I suck. Perhaps some of the skips and tricks would help me. Where do I learn these tricks

Yeah, the H3 one is way easier than the ones for HCE and H2. Solo, but especially in Coop, since you can bring more friends.
