The Model of Jerusalem in the Second Temple Period
The Second Temple Jerusalem Model recreates the city of 66 CE at the height of its glory; the eve of the great revolt of the Jews against the Romans. The city then stretched over some 450 acres.
The model, measuring some 1,000 square meters, was created by Professor Avi-Yonah, a leading scholar specializing in ancient Jerusalem. Avi-Yona's reconstruction is based on descriptions from Jewish sources, particularly the Mishnah, and the writings of the contemporary historian Flavius Josephus. He also relied on archaeological finds from Jerusalem and from other Roman cities.
At the heart of this impressive city stands the Temple Mount. Kings who built the city, notably the Hasmoneans and their successors, and King Herod and his descendants, were greatly influenced by the Greco-Roman culture. This is clearly reflected in the style of the buildings, and in the layout of the streets; in the holy precinct at the top of the hill; the public water facilities, and other dedicatory monumental buildings as well as in the sports and entertainment facilities.
A closer look reveals the uniquely Jewish character of Jerusalem. First, there is only one sacred precinct - the Temple Mount - with a single temple, to one God. Second, the city has no sculptures, or reliefs depicting human figures and animals, in accordance with the second of the Ten Commandment: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
The magnificence of the city as it replicated in the model did not last for long. In 66 CE the Great Revolt against the Romans broke out, and in 70 CE, after five years of fighting, the city was destroyed and the Temple burnt down.
The proximity of the model to the Shrine of the Book creates a continuum. The Model and the Shrine of the book represent the full spectrum of the various groups and currents that comprised Jewish society at the end of the Second Temple period. The Model reflects the social, economic and political elite, while the story of the separatist groups who rejected a life of luxury and corruption that then characterized the city and its temple is told in The Shrine of the Book. Their literature and spiritual world are reflected in the Dead Sea Scrolls, on display in the Shrine of the Book.

    My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered licensed tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church.

At the pool of Bethesda which was near the sheep gate having five porticos was where he met a man Paralyzed for 38 years. And Yeshua simply asked him "Do you wish to get well?" He had his excuses but that's not what Yeshua asked him. (We must Listen carefully.) When Yeshua said "pick up your pallet and walk" he was Immediately healed! ❤️ They say the only problem they had was it was on the Sabbath, but we all know it was more than that! ☝🏼🇮🇱

The western wall as it is referred to is the western wall of Fort Antonia. The temple wasn't there. As I remember from history the temple would be around 300 metres west of there and you can follow the wall of the time. Then you will be near to where the temple was. It will be close to the Gihon.

Am sorry but am not. I tell you the truth, the temple is no where near the western wall.
You can look this up under the historian at the time Josephus. The second temple was utterly destroyed where not one stone was on top of another. This means my brother it was torn down to the very foundations. Or do I need to go to the Tanakh? Those that pray there are praying to the Roman fort Antonia.
I tell you that those of us that know this; we also debate to where it was. My take is it can't be more than 1 km from the Gihon.
But you are free to belief in what you want. That's your right.

It seems like the assumption is that the "Old City" like it is today, built by Suleiman and the Ottomans, was rebuilt almost exactly the same way as it was during the 2nd Temple period..?🤔
I'm not so sure about that.
There is credible evidence that the city was so completely destroyed in 70 AD and even more so again by Hadrian after the Bar Kokhba revolt, that it was completely unrecognisable as a city, fulfilling the prophecy that "not one stone will be left on another".
And seeing as Jews were then banned from the city for about 500 years after that, I highly doubt that any of the rebuilding that took place was based on what existed before 70 AD.

I don’t think the Jews had the ability to build something like this big. I think it was a tent as the first temple was.

    Allah almighty our creator says,
*“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), Never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (their selves in the Hellfire).”*
    Qur'an 3 (85)
*"In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful."*
This Message is from the slave and Messanger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to the Mankind.
Peace be upon him, who follows the right path. Furthermore
I invite you to Islam, and if you become a Muslim you will be safe, and Allah will double your reward, and if you reject this invitation of Islam you will be committing a sin.
(And I recite to you Allah's Statement:)
    👉Allah almighty our creator says,
*Say, "O people of the Book! Come to what is common between us and you, that we worship none but Allah; that we associate nothing with Him and that none of us shall make as our Lord any other than Allah."*
*If they reject your invitation, then tell them plainly, "Bear witness that we are Muslims (who worship and surrender to Allah alone)."*
    Qur'an (3:64)
    👉Allah almighty says,
*Your real Deity is but One. He Who is Lord of the earth and the heavens and of all that is between them, and Lord of all Easts.*
    Qur'an (37:5)
Once we die our creator will again resurrect us on the Judgment day.And on that day if you have believed in Allah and have followed his book Quran then you will be succeed in the hereafter life.
Hereafter life is the eternal life either in Paradise or hellfire depending upon the good amd bad deeds you did in this world.
👉God Almighty says to the Mankind,
    Say(O Prophet),
*“Allah gives you life, then causes you to die, then He will assemble you on the Day of Resurrection about which there is no doubt.”*
    Quran (45:26)
