@@lolipedofin there is a distance of about 10-15 m where the car "punches a hole" in the air, leaving no air behind. this causes no air resistance and thus the car behind goes faster. the dirty air you are referring to comes from a longer distance, as the air resettles but in a more kinetic state that makes it harder to drive through and also heats the engine up a lot.

Hamilton is fantastic racer but he has few serious downsides which prevented him from winning more championships than he has. One is consistency, he simply sometimes doesn't show up and gets easily run over by his teammate like Canada for example or China or even Russia last year. The second really bad thing about him is how he gives up. There is great example, he said the same in Mexico last year, that he cant overtake on that track and when he was told Vettel is going forward no problem he started making passes. Same in Belgium 2016 where he collided with Bottas. He was dropped back and couldn't win anymore but could save some decent points with that pace Merc had. That ultimately lost him championship because 6th or 7th position in that race which he was totally capable of would give him 6-8 points and might have made him champion.

JBN in exact meaning of the word he is a little bit overrated and that resulted in them crashes. Max had his head higher than he could reach and needed little reality check. He was already called next Senna 3 years ago, im not saying he wont be more successful in his career than Ayrton was but Senna never lost more than 1 season to his teammate and never made so many mistakes in consecutive races. So Max has some catching up to do before he will be next Ayrton which means at this stage he is bit overrated. However overrated Max is still better than most underrated drivers :)
That doesn't change anything. You are professional and you are getting paid for results, its not a primary school. As soon as you become 18 year old and in eyes of law you are an adult and you are responsible for all your actions. Babysitting can be done in karting, maybe in F3. If you are coming to F1 everyone expect you to be at that level. I hate age excuse because its so polarized. On one side you can excuse mistakes with young age but then you can also use it as argument that he is youngest GP winner etc. With certain advantages come certain disadvantages, Max will have 7 years to compete in F1 before he even reaches Senna rookie age - you really expecting people to compare rookie Senna to 7 year veteran Max just because they were at the same age? How would you then compare Fangio or Farina to Senna? When he died he was 34 and they won their titles in their 40's. They didn't even race in F1 when they were in their 30's not to mention 20's so how could they ever achieve as much as someone who started at age of 24 or 17? So age shouldn't be important here, of course you have to take into consideration that Max is young but at the same time if you compare him to Senna you have to compare their career racing years not what they age were they at some stage. Senna never had a chance to show what he can do at age of 17 because times were different. And if you want to compare one driver to another then you should choose same period or disregard age or even things like amount of won races. Michael Schumacher still has most wins and most titles and in many people opinion he isn't even top 5 all time. Now that being said I don't want you to get me wrong. I personally see the similarities between Max and Ayrton, if I had to choose someone who replicates Senna on the track best it would be Max all the way but what im saying is if you compare 17 year old to legendary champion and arguably best driver in history (not for me) you are not doing that kid as big favour as you think you are doing and when he doesn't deliver on the level of that champion even for short period of time you will be called out by people that Senna didn't do that, or Senna didn't do that and people will say you overrated him. Heads of to Max. He really surprised me at the order to overtake RIC. I'm don't really like him, but that was great reaction. Respect to him. So Max has some catching up to do before he will be next Ayrton which means at this stage he is bit overrated.

That doesn't change anything. You are professional and you are getting paid for results, its not a primary school. As soon as you become 18 year old and in eyes of law you are an adult and you are responsible for all your actions. Babysitting can be done in karting, maybe in F3. If you are coming to F1 everyone expect you to be at that level. I hate age excuse because its so polarized. On one side you can excuse mistakes with young age but then you can also use it as argument that he is youngest GP winner etc. With certain advantages come certain disadvantages, Max will have 7 years to compete in F1 before he even reaches Senna rookie age - you really expecting people to compare rookie Senna to 7 year veteran Max just because they were at the same age? How would you then compare Fangio or Farina to Senna? When he died he was 34 and they won their titles in their 40's. They didn't even race in F1 when they were in their 30's not to mention 20's so how could they ever achieve as much as someone who started at age of 24 or 17?
So age shouldn't be important here, of course you have to take into consideration that Max is young but at the same time if you compare him to Senna you have to compare their career racing years not what they age were they at some stage. Senna never had a chance to show what he can do at age of 17 because times were different. And if you want to compare one driver to another then you should choose same period or disregard age or even things like amount of won races. Michael Schumacher still has most wins and most titles and in many people opinion he isn't even top 5 all time.
Now that being said I don't want you to get me wrong. I personally see the similarities between Max and Ayrton, if I had to choose someone who replicates Senna on the track best it would be Max all the way but what im saying is if you compare 17 year old to legendary champion and arguably best driver in history (not for me) you are not doing that kid as big favour as you think you are doing and when he doesn't deliver on the level of that champion even for short period of time you will be called out by people that Senna didn't do that, or Senna didn't do that and people will say you overrated him. But word "overrated" is now seen as really aggressive and hateful as it is mostly used by haters with no constructive argumentation. But in real original meaning of that word I can see how people see Max overrated. That's all im saying

One Red Bull car would run in front of the other each weekend, so one person gets a faster lap from slipstream. Ricciardo didn’t want to just “punch a hole in the air”, and Verstappen wouldn’t overtake him because then Ricciardo would get slipstream off of him rather than the other way around.
