The Santa Maria, captained by Christopher Columbus himself, was the largest of the three ships used in his first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492. A 'nao', a Spanish cargo ship, it was known for its robustness and ability to endure long oceanic voyages. #SantaMaria #HistoricalModel

There’s been some conversations about “what is modeling” lately, what with 3-d printing etc. I personally feel that if you enjoy yourself and have fun with whatever you’re building, you have already accomplished what you set out to do regardless of other people’s opinions. Looks like a nice kit. Never built a wooden ship but hope to some day. The rigging seems daunting but it's one of those things that will really bring the kit to life. Looking forward to seeing that. Must admit that I was never crazy to see the canvas sails molded in plastic. I know that some people use real canvas, but even getting the right looking material can be a challenge.

In 1992, round the 400th anniversary of Cristoforo Columbu's voyage across the Atlantic under the aegis of Queen Isabella of Spain, the Spanish government commemorated the occasion in sending across that same ocean a replica of the Santa Maria. It eventually came to Columbus, Ohio, where on numerous occasions have I seen it.

Old kits and flash and now 3d prints and a ton of clean up. Give me honest flash and seamlines any day! Peg marks on moulded wood detail is not so funny but model making is making do with what is offered and using plastic card and putty when you want to modify. And skill and that very difficult thing, my Nemesis, patience... Welcome back.

I always prefer this liquid one, the liquid one melts inside the plastic thickness. I prefer It😊👍

My hull pieces are dark chocolate brown for some reason! Is that a Heller thing?
I think its a German Heller... Not sure.. maybe old (older) mold than mine
