But honestly being smart can be one of the most terrifying things if done properly, and The Boys season 4 has shown that fully. Homelander is a *sociopath*: he's impulsive, short-tempered, and aggressive yet spontaneous. He strive for power but doesn't really plan how to take it, he just grabs it whenever he can. He also genuinely doesn't care about other people's feelings or thoughts; Sage is a *psycopath*: she shares the same lack of regard towards others, doing things for her own personal gain always, but she is cunning and calculating. She plans every single little move she makes, always hashing out each and every minute detail. She is patient yet eager to strike whenever her plan dictates.

There is one major point that is often slept on. Homelander stopped listening to Sage and threw her away, but she completed her plan and gave him what he wanted anyway. By doing that, she played on his biggest fear (abandonment) and made sure he'll depend on her from now on meaning he'll never question her again. I really liked that first rally riot scheme how it started confusing like where is she going with this then it clicks into place, but then the season never really did that again. She takes credit in the end but I wish they would have set it up by showing her do seemingly random things that converge in the end into some Rube Goldberg series of events leading up the ending. Would have been harder to write but as long as they knew where they were going to go they can go backwards from there and make it make sense. It’s like the number one criticism of the Nolan Joker is his ability to master manipulate all the events stretches the suspension of disbelief just a bit too far but this character had all the potential to go that far and then some cause we accept that her super power is to be impossibly smart. I hope they do more in season 5 cause so far I like the character but feels like wasted potential thus far. I like the idea of her more then the execution at this point

Sister sage and Homelander are both NARCISSISTS. He’s an overt and she’s a covert. Like all narcissists, they “rule” by manipulation. Homelander uses FEAR to manipulate and Sage uses words to manipulate. Together in the same room, narcs tolerate each other until the other’s usefulness comes to an end. Homelander believes he’s superior to Sage because he can kill her in an instant, while Sage, like all covert narcs, demonstrates her superiority by using words to pull on individual fears, inadequacies, hopes and dreams to manipulate them on a path SHE wants -even overt narcs. However, as a narc, she HAS to give them a clue they’re being manipulated by her whether they realize it or not, hence how she gets firecracker beaten by starlight, feigns girl solidarity to Victoria, knowing she’s going to fed her to slaughter and tells Homelander that the plan was all for “Ryan”. It’s no fun to narcs if their victims don’t know who’s behind the manipulation. Of course Homelander and Sage have end games for each other. It only depends on who strikes first and if their is mutual destruction

Both mess with their brains to become more innocent versions of themselves who can actually regulate and express emotion properly ( referring to Ryoko in Junko's case )
Both have a massive, worldwide plot in the works ( Sage hasn't shown anything specific but it's clear she's cooking up something )
Both's motives, while not identically the same, are similar because of the fact that they do these evil things to stimulate their brains and gain some sort of mental pleasure

I think you're wrong about that.
Getting rid of Victoria Neuman *was* part of her plan. She had the Shape Shifter steal the dirt on her from The Boys so that she could release it, when she wants to. She would have had Neuman impeached (for being a supe and a killer) and, after killing Singer (maybe, with Cindy or talking Victoria into doing it, after all she trusted Sage) framing(/revealing) Neuman for Singers murder.
Furthermore, her plan was actually quite simple and easy to piece together, at least viewed from a birds eye perspective: 1) Make someone the president, Vought / Homelander controls, meaning in particular she has to get rid of the presidential candidates she can't control.
      2) Rile up the public against Starlight and people critical of supes abuses of power, so that the public won't be to critical when they make america more authotarian( for their control) in the name of stopping said public "enemies".
I think they shoul have gone for a more "show don't tell" approach with her plan, but in of itself it seemed pretty logically and realistically written to me.

      @doesitcomeinyellow3663 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

@@Yoosech9712 Homelander, like he usually does, messed everything up for the sake of his own ego, which as stated in the final episode, she anticipated. She was the one who had the spy recording the president elect to frame him for nuemans murder. She was the one who came up with the plan to bash those men’s heads in, start a riot, and then place their bodies at the scene. She knew Atrian was the leak before Atrian even became the leak because a lot of her power works off probability and forethought, and Atrain had already had past grievances with the 7 and with Homelander in particular, where as Noir, Deep, Ashley, and Firecracker still respected and or heavily feared him to an unmovable degree; not to mention the racism likely specifically reserved for Atrian in an environment like that. She already knew homelander was gonna lash out and kick her out of the 7 because she didn’t want to be in it in the first place because she wanted to execute her plan quietly. So while ALSO smearing Starlight’s name, she purposely made bad blood with firecracker because she knew with her undying loyalty and need to be Homelander’s center of attention she’d eventually “backstab her” to get her kicked out. She only feigned annoyance because she had to make it believable, or else Homelander would’ve likely tried to interfere in some other way. She knew the boys were gonna take out Nueman one way or another, especially after seeing them at the Tek knight party. I could literally sit here and list to you every single thing she did that resulted in the outcome of this season. But as anyone who’s passed the fourth grade should know, inferring from past events and using context clues is a much more effective way of telling an interesting story rather than info dumping every time a part of her plan falls into place. What makes Sage and The Boys as a whole special is that it respects its viewers to be smart enough to not need their handheld when it comes to storytelling. This is why media literacy and narrative comprehension is so important. That way you’d know that just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean it’s bad.

I'm writing this here today (August 2024) because I have an hypothesis about Sage, and I want to come here after the end of the 5th season to see if I am (was?) correct. Here is it:
    I think Sage...
    1) ...already knows about Homelander's "addiction" to milk.
    2) ...gave this knowledge to Firecracker. She also gave her the meds that makes her lactate.
    3) ...with the goal of establishing a vector to slowly poison Homelander THROUGH Firecracker's milk. The key here is SLOWLY.
    4) ...the process probably already begun, and Firecracker's coughing and bad health appearance are the symptoms of the poison in her body. I think these symptoms will go away in season 5 (Firecracker's body will get used to the meds, as they were designed to do this), and everyone will forget her symptoms. Firecracker won't get weak or die, because the poison just becomes "Supe-affecting" AFTER her body processes it into becoming milk, thus weakening Homelander without him noticing it.
    5) ...and here we get why Sage does it: as a contigency plan to kill or weaken Homelander if/when needed. And here is how I think it will happen:
    6) ...near the season ending, Homelander will appear to be nonstoppable as always, but he FINALLY will get a punch from another Supe or some impact from something natural (such as a collapsing building) and will actually feel it. He will be weaker and won't know why. He will notice he is now at the same Power Scale of other Supes.
    7) ...then, the last seed of Sage's plan will come to fruition: the Boys will "discover" (probably from info she leaked to them, or outright gave them, or alternatively she simply predicted they would "have the great idea") of getting the Supe-Killing-Virus into a version to be injected into FIRECRACKER, so she feeds it to Homelander THROUGH HER MILK. And thus, the virus will finally be able to make him weak enough for a fair fight with Butcher, and/or to outright kill him. Probably both will be without powers, as Butcher will deny the SuperCancer to redeem himself at the end of his character arc.
Well... we'll have to wait a "little" to know if I got anything right... See ya in the future!
