He deserves an Emmy.
It's ridiculous he hasn't even been nominated yet. His performance in this show, especially in season 2 and season 3 is masterful.
The Emmys lose credibility every year they don't nominate this man.
We know. It's the thing everyone is saying right now and now you said it too.

I’m blown away at the contrast between Starr and his character, wow what an incredible actor.
Check out Banshee. He plays a very different type of character there (the protaganist), but does just as well of a job, if not even better. And the show overall is, in my opinion, even better writing than The Boys. It's a masterpiece of a story. It's either 4 or 5 seasons. You'll wish you had watched it sooner, trust me.
The face Antony did when the milk squirted in his face had me laughing so hard.

Antony Starr was in a New Zealand series called "Outrageous Fortune" where he played twins, one evil one good... utterly convincing. Brilliant.
If it wasn't for the opening credits I would have thought they cast actual twins in Outrageous Fortune.
@@jasonhenson7948 indeed, me too, that's not an exaggeration.
ah, so he has previous experience in playing a psycho
He plays both characters so well you kind of forget he’s the same guy, that’s how good he is. Van is a lot of laughs, Jethro is a jerk at times but you can see why he is the way he is.
Aw, Jethro was just misunderstood....
"I don't fly, I don't laser people, I'm legally required to say this..."
It’s kind of a relief that he looks and sounds so little like Homelander in real life.
He's making a good case for the Clark Kent disguise actually working in real life.
He is in disguise. There are no more natives on the NZ island
He used to sport the blonde hair/no glasses, but I think he said that he couldn't even go out without getting recognized literally everywhere he went. That's part of the reason he's changed his look.
He's acting very 'fruity', compared to the way he was in interviews for Banshee 11 years ago, he saw that the serious persona it's making people annoying and call him Homelander wherever he goes, so of course he wants to change some of that and stop having people being so obsessed with the idea that Antony is Homelander in real life
He reminds me (a little but) of George Michael.
He's such a great actor. He really makes the whole show work.

He was probably drunk at least he doesn't have a bunch of previous problems @@ItsMeBarnaby
He owns every scene. Even when his character is insecure, you’re thinking he could blow up at any moment. He is terrifying to watch.
You can always see the seething rage boiling under the surface he accomplishes so much with subtle facial expressions
It also helps that his character is basically Superman, with all that power behind an insecure man.
And could if he wanted become a god, and no one could stop him. Only held back by his need to be loved.
The crazy thing is, LONG before The Boys, his character in Banshee gave off the EXACT same impression (and he was the good guy in Banshee). I was a diehard fan of Banshee, and Antony's acting as Lucas Hood was a masterfull performance. Dude was a total badass, with a sheer will like John Wick's, and despite having no superpowers, inspired the same type of intimadation and respect from his presence. For him to achieve that as both good and evil characters, both super-powered and regular human, says a lot about him as an actor.
If you haven't seen Banshee, I can't recomend it enough. No matter what genre you prefer, Banshee is just a really, really good story. A masterpiece of writing and character development.
He's a lot more campy than I thought he'd be, but also sincere at the same time.

Kripke putting actors (safely & Respectfully) through situations that make them feel uncomfortable is kinda brilliant: The actors overcome that = makes The Boys so compelling!
