Thank you all for this film. I loved both Gwen and Bob through out the years. I'm an old hoofer my self and miss ole' Broadway and HOLLYWOOD. People must know that creativity costs the Artist in blood, sweat and tears. We give it willingly, no matter how it hurts us. It is a light in us and we have no choice but to give it back. Great job Sam and Michelle.
Sam Rockwell is one of the best actors in Hollywood
He did such a great job as Bob Fosse! I really hope the Emmys recognize him as he deserves!
Love Sam Rockwel, he's so talented
I absolutely loved Fosse/Verdon! I had not heard of her before ... It’s only right that she’s getting the recognition she deserves for the influence she had on his movies and choreography. Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams were great in this. They should win all the awards. I wish they could have done more episodes.
I think the young dancer Sam mentions at around 2:00 is Morgan Marcell. She;d been in Hamilton and Bandstand (both choreographed by Andy Blankenbueler) and is now in Moulin Rouge.
I knew that Sam Rockwell was special when I first saw him in ‘Galaxy Quest’. He’s awesome! 😎
Susan Keefer loved him in that role too!
I will sit at this table one day soon enough.
Inaam Barwani what do you do?
Yes you will!
What very few people acknowledge is that Gwen Verdon before Bob Fosse wasn't anything close to being a star. She became one because of him, and much later in her career, She wasn't young when she did Sweet Charity. She knew the deal with Bob and she bought into it. She wasn't a simpering victim - she knew she'd struck gold with Bob and without him she was just another skilled dancer. She was tough, no doubt about that, and when she became a huge star she used that power whenever she could. She was also infamous on Broadway for cutting musical numbers at the last minute, if she felt tired. So unless you got to see a Fosse-Verdon show early, you might come out, take a look at your Playbill and notice that big chunks of the show were missing. 'I can't remember seeing that?' No you're not losing the plot - it wasn't performed that night. Gwen had a headache. And you were paying big money to fix it.
I liked the series, but I wish there had been more dancing.
Loved the show but I felt bad for Gwen. It seems like Bob had zero redeeming qualities as a person
The Fosse/Verdon show was depressing to me. I only watched it because of Rockwell, but gradually I realized Fosse is not a likable charecter at all. He is portrayed as a suffering self consumed addict, to the point where I wished they were doing him wrong, and that it was exaggerated a little.
Yeah, I think that's why some people like All that Jazz better because the character of Joe Gideon is depicted with some tongue-in-cheek humor (one must remember that Bob Fosse also directed this so you cannot actually expect him to be 100% honest about himself especially if he's really that kind of a jerk). I would love to see this just because of Sam Rockwell; I think that man is getting better and better - and I remember je succeeded in making that REALLY reprehensible character in The Green Mile at least temporarily funny (that is, before we learn that his charcter actually committed the murder that Michael Clark Duncan character is accused of) so Itrust he can make Fosse at least a bit sympathetic. I'd love to see Rockwell play Humphrey Bogart one day; I think he's got te looks for that...I also enjoyed him in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and I really said "Jackpot!" to myself when I heard he'd been givven the part of Zaphod, because that's really the only character in the story that you can imagine to be played by an American.
Have you seen "All that Jazz?"
Good lord Richard madden is gorgeous
I binge watched and I thought Fosse was quite appalling. I didn't know that about him.
Just.Love.Him.
Stop playing racists Sam. It's great to see you recognize the problem 😂
Sam Rockwell forever playing a racist! Lmbo 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂... Talented Man!
Why does everyone else at the table look pissed off?
Yeah the vibes in this roundtable are really weird.
They’re all self consumed actors who want the spotlight on them
They don't, they're just listening to each other. They also smile if you noticed.
They all are rather self promotive and are finding it difficult to let others be in the spotlight. These ensemble discussions rarely flow and can have an incredibly diffident emanation. It can work but there is usually one or two that pull focus others look constipated and or stifled .
It’s called Egos…😂
i love Sam Rockwell .
His fosse could have been much better though.
Huh huh huh
I liked All That Jazz a great deal better than this show.
I agree
Bob Fosse's semi-autobiographical ALL THAT JAZZ only covered 1 year of his life: the 1974-75 year. FX's FOSSE/VERDON covered his entire creative career with Gwen Verdon: 1955 to his death in 1987. Its redundant to compare a 2 hour film covering a year in the life of an artist over an 8-part series that covers 30 years of their life. You basically are implying only a year of his life was more interesting.
@@Fossellini what I am saying is that it was better done with better actors and dancers. This show fails to show us why these people got away with being jerks by failing to show what people found so attractive about them.
💯
Sam Rockwell seems Pain in the ass person ... But it's amaze actor..
