I just watched the final episode. When you reflect back over the entire 8 weeks, it's simply amazing. Michelle Williams is a chameleon. She is one of the great actresses of our time. This was like watching Bob and Gwen.
Fantastic series. Michelle Williams got Verdon's voice - elocution, accent, inflection, intonation - down to such detail. Amazing performance. Together, she and Sam Rockwell brought these two back to life and lit up a history too long in the dark. Thank you all for making this!
This whole show is perfection personified. The cast is phenomenal, the writing rich and nuanced and the way they shot it - WOW! Mimicking the show or film project they were doing - genius. Kudos to FX and all who have a hand in this.
Best series ever! Michelle was amazing. I've loved Fosse since many years ago watching the movie All That Jazz. Sam was also phenomenal in this series. ♡
I wish they showed Bob dancing. He did some amazing dance sequences in old black and white movies I watched as a kid. They were an amazing duo on the stage together also. Sam can really dance too! Would've added so much to this. Their daughter, Nicole, had a lead in A Chorus Line, one of my favorite films. This was basically the Gwen Verdon series.
Both Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell were magnificent. Michelle had the catch in her voice and moved so well. I was amazed at how she created this character. AMAZING. Enjoyed this show very much.
I binge-watched the whole Season in 2-3 weeks on my DVR, and LOVED it! It was SOOOOO good! I was sad when it was over. Marvelous piece! Marvelous work! Just stunning!
Just give Michelle the Emmy now. Just as she did in My Week With Marilyn she becomes the person she is portraying. She should have won the Oscar over(rated) Meryl.
Gwen Verson was his muse in her own way. She was to him what Bernie Taupin was to Elton John. She also was featured in Paris Is Burning where a Fundraising Show took place with Voguing to raise money for AIDS Research and this was around 1987 two years after Rock Hudson died, sadly many of the folks who were part of this Documentary who would die of the disease.
Having met Gwen...this is as close as you are gonna get to the original. Working with Bob, the voice was higher pitched but it's so close it's amazing.
They are equally brilliant in this. Gwen Verdon was appealing. Bob Fosse was not appealing. So we're drawn more to Gwen Verdon and the woman channeling her so effectively. But Rockwell should be given his due here.
Gwen was not a choreographer. Every video about Fosse/Verdon hits on the message that Verdon was underappreciated and really did half of the work of choreography, direction, etc. while Fosse got most of the credit. See this and other FX videos and PR interviews with Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams and the writers and producers. They repeat that message continually. In THIS interview th-cam.com/video/gUncuNW76-Y/w-d-xo.html at 11 minutes, Gwen's asked about the natural progression from dancer to choreographer and she volunteers that she could apply Fosse's techniques to anything but "to come up with an original idea, I couldn't do it." at 18 minutes "that's why I know I'm not a choreographer." at 23 minutes "He's the director. He's the choreographer. " Yeah I'm a fan and I loved the show and I'm sure they each contributed to each other's work. But Fosse/Verdon show had an agenda as they all do these days (see also the Versace show with its fictitious agenda driven home with repetition.) No doubt she's terrific. And for that reason I'll take Gwen's word for it over the words of the Hollywood propagandists 35 years later. th-cam.com/video/gUncuNW76-Y/w-d-xo.html
Bob Fosse was horrible, he was so jealous of her and he lied and cheated on her, constantly! He was a weak, slimy, disgusting user and liar and cheat! She was the talent, he was a zero!
Sounds like you were someone who was cheated on-otherwise why would you be so vindictive about someone who was one of the most brilliant choreographers and directors of his time? His career eclipsed hers by a great deal, by the way.
You also have to realize much of this was fictionalized. I'm friends with people who knew them and were there. They've said, no, a lot of Fosse's behavior on Fosse/Verdon wasn't how it happened at all. Even Ann Reinking has echoed that. I guess the truth wouldn't have been as dramatic.
Love that their daughter is involved in sharing their legacy❤
I just watched the final episode. When you reflect back over the entire 8 weeks, it's simply amazing. Michelle Williams is a chameleon. She is one of the great actresses of our time. This was like watching Bob and Gwen.
Michelle is absolutely astonishing as Verdon. The cadence of her voice, the characterization...spellbinding.
@Jimmy James ...ummmm ...the "Kinsey" scale? ...i wonder what you mean
Omg you know what: i didn't even SEE the original post name was The Kinsey Scale. I am this face palm moment. Thanks for dealing with me.j
Both Sam and Michelle are amazing, but Michelle takes it to the next level. I cried at the end of season finale
I am 60 years old. I remember seeing Gwen on TV and I loved her!!
Just saw a few episodes on FX tonight and I'm hooked. Williams IS Verdon. I've seen several interviews on Verdon and Williams nailed it.
Fantastic series. Michelle Williams got Verdon's voice - elocution, accent, inflection, intonation - down to such detail. Amazing performance. Together, she and Sam Rockwell brought these two back to life and lit up a history too long in the dark. Thank you all for making this!
Michelle is so incredibly brilliant in this role. She is always so great I think she’s underrated.
I'm loving this Series!!! Michelle is brilliant!!! I'm just sad that next week is the Finale. I want more.
Please please put this series on dvd/blu ray. I have watched the whole series loved every minute of it and want to watch it again and again.

Best series ever! Michelle was amazing. I've loved Fosse since many years ago watching the movie All That Jazz. Sam was also phenomenal in this series. ♡
This series was so good I am binge watching this again.
I’m amazed. I’m intrigued. I am watching every video or audio file on Ms. Verdon. WOW and thank you.
I wish they showed Bob dancing. He did some amazing dance sequences in old black and white movies I watched as a kid. They were an amazing duo on the stage together also. Sam can really dance too! This is a great show! I'm really enjoying it both Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams are fantastic in it.
Thank you for all the interviews. It's wonderful to hear this story told.
HOW THE HELL DID SHE GET THE VOICE SO SPOT ON?!?!?
Rockwell said he couldn't get his voice down. He said it was very difficult. Impossible. Michelle channeled Gwen. She deserves many awards.
@@christinec.2372 I wholeheartedly agree!
Michelle has earned the emmy for best actress...no doubt about it...stunning work.
I'm in the middle of this now. Just amazing the quality of the performances from Sam and Michelle.
Great show, Gwen is definitely Bob's muse
Just Give Michelle WIlliams the award, she earned it. Bravo.
they did
GWEN! Michelle Williams is fantastic! LOVE THIS SHOW! I never knew about Bob and Gwen or BROADWAY until I met Bob at Hotel Toronto in 1979!
I love this show. Both were dance geniuses.
This is such a good show!! Why are there hardly any likes or comments on any of these videos? Thanks FX for making this show! :)
Michelle is amazing-more like Gwen than she was a Marilyn Monroe
Because one is stunned.
Because it's about the arts. Less people interested in art than OJ, the Getty kidnapping, pop culture.. Always has been that way, don't know why.
People under 40, maybe 50 now, don't know about these performers or this art form so don't tune in. Just my guess.
Michelle is now and always has been an amazing character actress, truly awesome. If Michelle is in something I watch it and always enjoy it.
MICHELLE WILLIAMS ROCKED THIS ROLE!! ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!! WOW!!!!!
I am loving this series. Everyone is doing a great job.
Just give Michelle the Emmy now. Just as she did in My Week With Marilyn she becomes the person she is portraying. She should have won the Oscar over(rated) Meryl.
I have enjoyed this series more than any other in a long, long time!! So well done on all accounts!
I loved Gwen Verdon as Tom Selleck’s mom in Magnum.
Sam does a great job as well. Very versatile! Michelle does a great job also.
A brilliant performance by both performers.
Michelle Williams is phenomenal. See this mini-series and be amazed.
Gwen Verson was his muse in her own way. She was to him what Bernie Taupin was to Elton John. Season -- 1 ?
???!!! There'll be MORE??
Did Michelle get her Emmy nomination yet?
Right! Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner! No doubt about it!!!
Why do people have to tear down someone to build another person up? It’s so ungenerous. Bob Fosse was a genius.
Magical. Both Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell.
Bravo
sorry but Rockwell isnt nailing the "Chicago" in the real Fosse in the way Roy Scheider could. Scheider got him all way.
I am so happy Michelle Williams won the Emmy!!
BRAVO ...BRILLIANT♪
Having met Gwen...this is as close as you are gonna get to the original. Working with Bob, the voice was higher pitched but it's so close it's amazing.
Michelle Williams was absolutely fantastic in this role; as was Sam Rockwell.
Great miniseries.

I had to remind myself, repeatedly, that Michelle was not Gwen.
Is this show on Netflix or Hulu? I want to watch it so much.
Ana Wieder It’s on FX
Yeah, I know but I don’t have a TV, just an iPad, so where can I watch it?

Fabulous!!!!!❤️🌟🌟💫💫💫
Michelle has become a really good actress.
PERFECT role for Michelle.
I liked this series a lot, but…it was on 5 years ago? Oh goodness does time pass quickly when one is in their 7’s.
At 2:31, it is unclear to me what she is saying, can you help me out? "When you roll your shoulder, it's not a ...(?)..., it's a con job."
gerard nealon seduction
If you watched the episode Gerard.. you would know. Obviously you didnt. Such a shame.
I just watched a Gwen Vernon video and Michelle does her better.
Mother Courage fixation.
Maybe they should be her fans. 😉

Great talent - creepy guy.
