    I cherry-pick maybe 6-7 toy lines, it's fun to follow them all and not mess around with bad toys. Spiral was an instant-preorder. I'd say wait and include her in the 2023 list, since Amazon has her dated for April so she'll be an odd duck missing from your 2023 list when almost everyone will be getting her well into 2023.

    So nice to be able to pay MSRP for a figure and not feel ripped off. Glad the ladies are finally getting legs like this. She and Mojo are by far my favourites of the last few years.

    I was waiting for this figure when it was announced and glad to see they did a good job with her.
    You're right that you should give a negative review when that figure shows things that are not done well, that's the point of a review!

    Absolutely fantastic looking figure. I haven't picked her up yet but to me she has to be the best ml figure just by design alone. You really feel like you're getting your money's worth as well. All those arms would be so cool for stop motion too. Thanks for the great reviews as always Anthony

    I don't care about pins either. However, in the case of Marvel Legends, pinless have made articulation much stiffer (?) and much much less gummy. I think it's been a good thing

    Spiral is just a fun design and credit to Hasbro for making a figure worthy of that design. I don't care about her as a character, but I am tempted by the action figure and that really never happens with Marvel Legends for me. Usually it's the opposite where my attachment for a character or property (i.e. X-Men animated) gets me to buy a lackluster figure. I stopped collecting the line early in the Hasbro days and only collect it sparingly now so I'm not qualified to rate a best ever Marvel Legend. Only one that comes to mind for me is the Fox Deadpool that came in the two-pack. That was a good figure with a lot of stuff, it's just too bad we had to buy a crappy figure of Negasonic what's her face to get the Deadpool figure.

  • @galacticmanlarry582

    Glad to see you get vindicated! 😂 This is definitely a unique figure (well, thanks to the character design)… They mostly nailed it… My additional personal gripe is: I would like it to feel a bit less „gummy“ in her several extremities.

  • @arthurchen6464
    @arthurchen6464 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Objectively I think she's probably the best regular sized ML in the modern Hasbro era (just because comparing current age figures with ToyBiz ones is kind of pointless with completely different emphases and approach of the two companies).
    Subjectively I love the figure on technical levels, but don't give a shit about the character, so she'll just be a really nice figure I own due to how nice a figure she is.

  • @Bearsofthelaw

    I agree, I have been negative of late regarding the Legends offerings and their pricing. If they put this much effort into their figures as a whole I would be a lot happier withthe price. That said, like Wolverine, i picked this up for £21 so was more than happy with this purchase. Spiral is an excellent figure, of a character I have been after for a good while.
    As you correctly said, vote with you're wallet, don't buy the rubbish, but buy the great figures they do make. if you dont buy any of them then why would they change, its the stark comparisons between sell outs and peg warmers that will show them the way...I hope.

    • @TheMattTrakker
      @TheMattTrakker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you mean if you buy all of them, they won't change? I think not buying them would give them reason to change, because money.

    • @Bearsofthelaw
      @Bearsofthelaw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMattTrakker Exactly, as I said don't buy the rubbish, but buy the great ones. They need a gauge onwhat to make. If they dont sell dont make them. If they do you are doing something correctly. People argue they stop collecting completely to show. it dose not they just assume their is nomoney in that brand and stop it. If you buy the great stuff they will make the great stuff.
      It is similar to the awful star wars shows we have had of late. People have cut and run. I can understand to a degree, however they have refused to watch Andor, which is high quality television. As far as the bottom line shows more people watched the awful Obi Wan series than Andor, so they will make more Obi Wan.
      Give credit to what is good and cut off what is bad. If the fan base does this correctly they can move mountains.

    Hey man, those people coming at you are just negative folks that hate criticism of anything they take too much pride on. Your reviews have taught me what an action figure should be like in design, sculpt and paint. Especially with Marvel Legends. I was blissfully ignorant until you actually taught me what, why and how a figure should be like/made. I've honestly learned a lot the past few months lol Now I'm saving money by collecting only what I like but more importantly, collecting a figure of value and quality by not simply dropping X amount of dollars on every single figure because of FOMO, nostalgia, and such. Anyway, I appreciate your reviews dude.

    I feel like you should definitely take credit for the vertical hinges on the hands. I hope the make a new Doppelganger figure with an articulated torso since they obviously can do it.

  • @Avelcaine
    @Avelcaine ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The most impressive thing is her ability to hit a realistic crossed-arms pose even though she's got six shoulders and a whole-ass rack. Looks pretty sweet when four arms have swords at ready and the "top" pair are folded across her chest like she's a Hindu Vegito.

  • @benh.1591
    @benh.1591 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes, definitely the best ML so far, especially taking the price into account. Retro TAS X-Men figures are garbage repaints and they cost considerably more. The Iron Spider figure is roughly $45 here in Europe, Spiral was only $30. I do not understand how or why. Not even a big Spiral fan. I vaguely remember her from X-Men Tas but this figure is too good to pass up on. It's so weird that an obscure character like this gets such attention, while major characters are neglected and receive barely passable figures. It took roughly 5 spider-man figures in the past two years before we got something close to decent (the TAS Spidey is still atrocious) Herald Thor being the only recent exception. Keep the reviews coming, your expertise is unparalleled and you are my go to guy whenever I consider picking up a figure.

  • @TheMattTrakker
    @TheMattTrakker ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I still really like the armored Daredevil (what an odd choice to do an awesome job on) and I am a pretty big fan of the symbiote 3 pack venom, so I'd have trouble saying she's the best, but she's good enough to make me at least think about it which is awesome.
    Considering these retro carded figures are 25+ and they don't come with a BAF, they should be able to put similar effort into all of these. I'm not sure if they just have someone that really likes her, or if they figured they'd need to do a good job to sell her because she's a more obscure character or what, but it shows that they can put in more than 1/10 effort, making all their 1/10 effort releases that much more frustrating.

    • @tonileo9849
      @tonileo9849 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thats the odd thing, obscure characters like this and psycho man for instance seem to have more care put into them.
      The retro card figs whether its x men or spiderman, are just cheap repaints mostly woth new heads, there are outliers sure like lizard or armored daredevil, but for each of them, there are a ton of reused molds with badly applied cell shading

    • @nhyar
      @nhyar ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tonileo9849 Obscure characters/suits usually get better treatment because Hasbro probably thinks they won't be releasing them again anytime soon/they aren't very profitable.
      That's why we keep getting a bunch of Spideys, Wolverines and Deadpools with no real "definitive" version to date.
      Jackal is a good example of a mold that has never been reused and was a decent figure.

    Really liked your little "editorial" at the start and I so agree. And you do like good Marvel Legends, I've noticed it in the past few years, but you don't sugarcoat either when a figure deserves the criticism. Actually, I like that for most figures, you do point out the bad and the good... if there's any.That's fair to me.
    It was very nice to see you so very positive about a Marvel Legends for once, though. And yeah, for once, this one was a decent value for the figure quality and number of accessories. Heck, I thought for sure when she was announced that Hasbro would charge us deluxe prince instead of regular price. One thing I've noticed missing from your review was talking about all the unique sculpted parts, even the pants. It would have been so easy for Hasbro to just "paint on" the costume. So overall, Hasbro actually made the necessary effort with Spiral.
    Nah, Spiral is not the best Marvel Legends ever, but it certainly is excellent and probably in the top 10 ever. Then again, I'd have to think about who's better and nobody comes spontaneously to mind.
    For the second question of the day, I wouldn't add an addendum. Keep Spiral in reserve for the 2023 top 10.

    • @TheQuebecDragon
      @TheQuebecDragon ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnthonysCustoms Yes, with the arms and legs sculpted properly, the good body proportions, but I meant talking about the unique stuff sculpted on the clothes, the details like the folds, the creases and the pockets. From Hasbro, it could have easily been just a "naked" female buck painted blue with no extra details. They could have done this with Spiral and perhaps no one would have noticed because of the six arms, the head sculpt and the fur trims.

    I agree that this is one of the best marvel legends figure. For the price point, they gave more than enough accessories...it would be nice to have spell casting or dancing hands, it is impossible to find some other figure with four fingered open palm hands or fist hands

    The reason why this one is "perfect" is because habro needed to justify the price for their new base figures of 25.99 - 26.99. They tried to do it last few months of 2022 but didn't fly and just so they can get away with it, now they're finally re releasing all the figures people have already bought with the proper physiques. Double-triple dipping in the same characters for the new normal price of 26.99. Once they've produce enough, rinse and repeat for 32.99 in the coming years. If this is basic, just wonder how much BAF will be (darwin was a BAF for the new basic price)

    Problem with fans of the Hasbro Marvel Legends is that they tend to be OCD with getting entire waves or completely teams, even if the figures suck. They buy the same body 100 times with a new color scheme. Hell, the "new" Spider-man is a reused body with a couple of reused accessories and it's over $35. People complain about the price and said they were forced to do it. Hasbro Marvel Legends fans are insane sometimes.

    Alright.
    So, finally....THE SPIRAL review.
    Been waiting for this one.
    Does look nice.
    Verrrrry tempting.
    Been a fan of LONGSHOT since the 6 prt mini-series came out in the 80's, and always wanted figures off the story. Been waiting for a decent LONGSHOT for ages.
    Seems we have a choice of decent MOJO figures to choose from, and now SPIRAL.
    HMM. 🤔
    Objectively, that upper torso NOT being capable of a forward crunch is like some kind of manufacturers universal joke, it seems. What's the deal with that?
    Mcfarlane are notorious for limited forward crunching, and it is just baffling. He seems to be dealing with that now, but wtf? Do the companies have some kind of an agreement about vetoing figures having a decent ab articulation? Just beyond bizzare.
    Anyway, nice as the figure is, objectively THAT matter shouldn't be an issue.
    Good point there about the double ball-peg at the neck. Small thing, but at least we know that it really is a simple thing for them to change.
    Paint apps are, honestly, still meh, but looks really impressive against 90% of ML figures, where next to zero effort has been put behind their production and construction. Hair bits could have really popped with a bit of a wash, which is something that shouldn't be considered beyond reasonable, but, again, they're OK, but by comparison to the majority of ML figs, it almost seems like next level evolution.
    The figure highlights so much of the lax attitude HASBRO has with this licence, exposing just how often they blatantly rip us off and take the pee pee.
    For the same price as this figure, I got the Mcfarlane Commando Spawn figure. OK, a little cheaper as I got a deal, but the point is....well, obvious, right!
    IF that SPIRAL figure was a standard for ML I would still be buying into HASBRO. IF HASBRO had any damned ethics, the standard on that SPIRAL figure would've been "the standard" years ago and would've now been improved upon.
    I am a long time geek, a lifer, and I like what I like, be it from the big two or the indies, so none of this is about bias, it is simply about respect at the end of the day.
    HASBRO mostly do NOT respect their customer base.
    THE END.
    Balls in your court, HASBRO.
    Cool level-headed review as always, matey.
    Nice one.
    😉🫡👍

    I love watching your videos, & I wouldn’t say u hate marvel legends but u do come off like u can’t wait to point out all the bad shit on all the figs people love. But I also feel it’s fair, I’m sick of hearing “ oh I just love this, & that , & blah blah blah “ but complain about a increase in cost like everything else in the world hasn’t went up. With all that said, I think your channel is a must watch for collectors. I just wished you did more import stuff, maybe help me save a few dollars on buying garbage!! 😂😂😂 #appreciateyourwork

    So people assume you don't like something for giving an honest review about a trash figure that gets released from a company? We like "good" figures and regardless of personal preference, it's still based on a general review and as pointed out in this video, they release good ones but have also thrown out reused, overpriced nonsense! I don't care how much i like something, if the quality is bad, I'm not spending my money cause the company is lazy. If they want us to buy these things, release good quality product like this one, Spiral. Anyways, nice vid. ✌🏼

    It's an awesome figure. Imagine if it had a decent paint shading and some more hand options.
    A removable helmet would've been cool, though I know a lot of folk don't like them. They would've had to flatten the hair sculpt under the helmet.

    Agreed. If most if not all releases had this much attention paid to them, people wouldn't rag on the line. Too bad most of the line's budget gets alotted to the MCU figures. Allegedly.
