Happy Sunday Everyone! We normally just post once per week, but this past Wednesday we had a special surprise video! If you haven't already, be sure to check out Jonathan's AMAZING Everesting attempt! th-cam.com/video/EWacfAu7NYg/w-d-xo.html
You should build a Hydroponic wall garden outside your back yard :) I built a small one and will doing it again. Ashton, I should have left the us decades ago when I was seeing it deteriorate but now I am over 50 it might be difficult for me to obtain employment based my age.
A WHITE couch????!!!!! WIth kids in the house? Ashton..... No matter what you smoke... I want the same :D ;) And I noticed that just like us, you don't have "Hochschränke" in your kitchen. Is it possible, that you're not the tallest?
@@LK-pc4sq depends on your profession. In Germany we lack all kinds of employees in all kinds of industries. So it should be easy to find a job in Germany at the moment.
Thanks for your "Tag der offenen Tür", walking tru your lovely house, almost every room. And whilst some being curious about Jack's room or the great view you spare for exactly privacy reasons, everyone should respect that and value that you share so much. The ups and downs of the building process. It's so nice and that you overcame the hustle, after Ashton's PhD, you're on the right track. Enjoy free castle Freiburg!
I think after all the stress and effort that went into building the house for you, you know why we in Germany see building or buying a house as something of a lifetime. Congratulation to your new house. May you find peace, security and happiness in it.❤
I am a german craftsman and have spent some time on construction sites. And I must say that you have a really nice house. Don't worry about the backyard, it will be fine. eventually.
Don't know the weather where you live. In western Netherlands, the buildings had large window to open and lock in position while fresh air blows inside. I asked a friend who lived in an equivalent attic apartment what did she do on warm days if it was too hot in her home. "Go out and have a beer."
Congratulations even it is not my dream. ihope you will enjoy it for many, many decades! Welcome to Germany, people like you will be welcome here all the time.
I actually love that you rarely show Jack. You give him his privacy which he deserves. Love your channel. Hoping to retire to Germany in 7 years, can’t wait.
12:54 I gasped when I saw your wardrobe: If I'm not mistaken, that's two Ikea wardrobes, which brings back memories for us. During the pandemic, we got one wardrobe from Ikea while they were just starting to have supply chain issues, and it felt like a Scandinavian scavenger hunt to go to different stores just to get the pieces we wanted. Then all the stress of drilling into the walls in a condo with metal studs, to balancing the units and then putting them together while still working our jobs during the day. We went slow and it took 5 weeks (partially apathy, partially part supplies). All this to say that if you got *both* done in 3-5 days, you did a fabulous job!!! This is just one seemingly "small" aspect of what you would have had to contend with. Congratulations on finally moving in, and thank you for another amazing video!
LOL I recently minimized my Diele (entryway) because who needs jackets in Germany in June, July, August, or September? And why are my muck boots still out when I haven't seen mud since April? Suddenly it was all echoey in there, and I love it.
Great home, you did very good. I love how you guys treat Jacks Personal life. About the Echo, you can use carpets, paintings everything textile helps quite a Lot. Again great Job and lots of New memories to be made there. Home is a feeling you create. You did good.
When I have a look at your fridges it is very American🥰🥰but the Rest I would say you Rook already some more European design elements, wood, lots of Candela but Scandinavian atmosphere. I love it ist charming.
Hello Ashton, hello Jonathan happy Sunday! Wow, what a beautyful house! I wish a you a happy and healthy life there. Also lots of memories and stories to be made here. Best regards
Hi Ralf!! Happy Sunday to you too. Thank you so much. We look forward to making wonderfully happy memories here and are so thankful to be in a beautiful and family friendly community ❤️
Gday BFF, congratulations 👏 very tastefully decorated, love your entry art, very welcoming and uncluttered as you mentioned. Your internal decor could fit beautifully into an Aussie home too. Love the neutral colour scheme, natural timber look, white and black, allows for artwork to be really shown off. I really respect you respecting Jack’s and your privacy. Never apologise for that! You share so much of yourselves through your channel. Some things must be kept sacred🥰 Sending lots of blessings for your home and family 😘😘😘
Thank you so so much. The house feels very calm, which has been a really wonderful change. We loved living in the city center when we were young, but having a calm, quite home with lots of play space and loads of kids in the neighborhood for Jack fits this next chapter of our lives. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi, i really like your content and that you share all this with us. 1 little tip from an Electrician, please keep in mind that the voltage in Germany at your outlets is 230VAC and this is really not a joke and can be very dangerous. For a safer life of your kids i can recommend you special plugs for your outlets to keep them close.
I have been waiting long to finally see how you furnished your new house. I like the kitchen and dining room and the living room is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing that.
Thank you for sharing your life and now your home with the public through TH-cam. With winter around the corner could you share/vlog about life in Germany during that season? How will it go with your family in winter in the new home. Take care and be happy and healthy.
Congratulations, Dr. Ashton and Jonathan! At the time in your life with a child, a single family home is perfect and you’ve struck the balance between American creature comforts and European cosiness. Its been a long wait for sure to get your dream home but judging by the reveal, its definitely been all worth it. Jack will love growing up there. In closing, I would say the hardest part was picturing what it looked like when it was being built, how it would all come together the way you guys pictured it, but those worries in the end came to naught with how well put together and inviting your home looks. This is a true labour of love for you guys and while you will do many more amazing things in your life, nothng will matter as much as the satisfaction and joy of having your first home! Again, heartfelt greetings!
Congratulations on the new house, I'm very happy when it's finally finished after all the work and turned out the way you imagined it. As long as you feel comfortable in it, everything is fine. If someone has the chance to set up their home the way they imagine it, then these opportunities should also be used. In any case, it looks very interesting and is something different. Anyway, I wish you a lot of joy and good times with it. You definitely deserve it. I think it's very good that you keep your son's room private.
What I really wanted to know about building the new house, was a lot more detail about the construction techniques. You mentioned poured walls, but somehow also we’ll insulated. What of the infrastructure - plumbing, wiring, heating (which I assume is radiant in-floor). What materials used are different than US homes? How do you alter or add infrastructure, if you need to add a plumbing fixture or additional electrical outlets, should the need arise? And a cost comparison with American home construction per square unit area would be nice. Also, what climate are you located in? Are temperature or precipitation extreme compared to your US place of origin? Are you allowed to perform work on your house, or are you required to hire licensed contractors?
I was waiting what the "most American things ever" would turn out to be when you said it in the intro, and was surprised that it was the second fridge! I'm Austrian, and I know several families who have one of those. Traditionally, you'd just have an extra freezer, but these days more people prefer a second fridge/freezer combination. None of the families I know who have a second fridge in the storeroom or cellar consider it an American thing.
Exactly what I was thinking. In my experience, it's often not even a concious decision. You move into a new place or decide to upgrade your kitchen, and you end up with a spare fridge. You start to use it as a back-up because you find it convenient, and then you just keep it as long as it doesn't overly clutter your place. Nowadays, more people are re-selling or donating their old kitchen gadgets, but in my grandparents' generation, that didn't really happen that much, apart from passing them on within the family.
Yes, I would say Germany is more a "extra freezer" than "extra fridge" country. We now some huntsman and sometimes we get a good deal for a chunk of "bush meat". 😉
Hi guys, I'm from Belgium and I love your channel... Germany is not that much different from Belgium, but still it's fun to watch the way you discover Europe. I had no idea it was so different from living in the US. Keep it up!!
In terms of space in the entrance: We have a shoe rack that sort of is hidden behind a two meter high mirror. Ist really neat and keeps the room more open.
Hey Jonathan, allow me a little advice. At 16:47 I see again the love you and Ashton puts in your home. Even the little edge (2cm) above the floor, you've painted. 👍 I love that. To keep this part of the wall clean over time, think about a kind of protection, maybe plexiglass or a metal plate (above your painted line the first 50cm).
To my experience, it comes to the time where all the "new" is getting normal and you guys becomes kind of careless and touch the wall when you carrying stuff or something, yk. Or in fall, your son come into the garage, wanna park his bike wearing muddy Gummistiefel..... 🤦🤦 I think you got the point☺️ Another pro: It's an one time investment mostly
I enjoyed watching the first several of your videos about your new house in Germany. I appreciate the fact that you do not use foul language as my 11 year old granddaughter watches with me. I lived in Germany while serving in Germany with the 7th Army Chorus some 50 years ago. I am sure things have changed a lot since then but I loved the beauty of the country. Wish you the best and God bless.
You have built a very beautiful home. I like it very much. Congratulations. I can't wait to see how your first Christmas in this home turns out. For me, Christmas is always the point when the value of home becomes tangible. I wish you all the best and lots of happiness for your future in this home.
It's a lovely home and it's exactly the way YOU want it, so it doesn't have to suit my tastes. Twenty-two years ago I had the fun of planning my retirement home from scratch, so I can understand your joy. As you live in it you'll probably find things that don't work out exactly as you had thought or that you could have done differently, but you'll love it anyway. Congratulations!
Such a lovely home you have built here in Germany, I think the Kitchen looks excellent with the withe worktop. I am honoured to hear from you like the Black Forest . I wish you all the best for your future in Germany .
There is a saying in Germany: the 1st home, u build for your mother-in-law, a no, your enemy!, the 2nd for your friend and the 3rd is for you. Since I'm as you at the 1st stage, I think u did a pretty good job. I talked to a lot of people, that build a new home (wir installieren PV-Anlagen) and even the stage II guys told me about things, they would never do again. So every time u think this sucks, think about the times u rent and the improvements, especially with a young child. GJ, Black forest Family. I rely enjoyed this series about your new home. Btw. We live in an Area with 40 new houses: there are ~40 garage fridge, because the beer doesn't cool on its own ;-)
My utmost respect from what I have witnessed in this and previous videos about the planning and design of your home. I'm going to guess that you Ashton made the biggest contribution here. From the colors to the design, this was done by someone who knows design and has an artistic eye. I would never have been able to pull something like this off in my lifetime, but the result is just stunning.
Once again an excellent video. Congratulations on your new home. The absolute worst part of moving into a new home is assembling a large, newly purchased closet. There is absolutely nothing worse.
Thank you!! With the exception of the entry way, a lot of the art in our house was either collected on trips or from our good friend in the USA. His father was an artist and he now sells his prints: jjfroese.com/wp/
Hey BlackForestFamily, this is a great looking house, reasonably spaced and nicely decorated; congrats to your new home! As a followup to a comment of mine I would love to know how the "Abnahme" went. Wish you all the best! Cheers
Congratulations on the new house. Even if not everything is ready, you have set it up as it suits you. I have to say it turned out beautiful. The rear garden will probably not be usable until next year.
Your house looks very nice and welcoming and bright. It inspires me for my own house dreams one day. Also, I totally agree about the fans. If I build a house, fans all the way
For me as a turkish german, a built in wardrobe like common in the US is a must have when building a house. But other then that nice! You have a good taste!
Your home is beautiful. I love the kitchen island, I think that’s my favorite part. The ceiling fans are nice too. I installed a ceiling fan in my Arbeitszimmer in our (rental) house here in Berlin. It makes a HUGE difference in the summer. I have two Huskies, and that’s the room they hang out in the most. Anyway, it’s all beautiful, and I’m jealous, because buying a house in Germany seems like such a far off dream for me.
Your home is absolutely beautiful! I love how you guys respect your son's privacy on TH-cam and let him have his own space 😊 Also very smart not showing the balcony. I would've loved to see the view, but as a very private person myself, I totally understand not showing.
1. Seeing the walls outside your living room makes me think you might want to add some concrete pots fot vertical gardening there. 2. That's an impressive portafilter espresso machine. Dual copper boilers? Thermoblock?
Wow, wow, wow, what a great house. I am stunned. Everything is really tasteful, modern yet cozy. I don't know what a house at this level would look like in the US, but it already looks quite European to me. I hope the rest of the work is done soon and you can soon enjoy your "little castle" to the fullest including the garden. Thanks also for sharing these glimpses with the community. Have a nice Sunday. P.S. Good job with the closet, Jonathan. As a German I know what a burden it can be to assemble such furniture. 😅
Congratulation for your new house! ☀️👪💐 You are so brave and powerfull to go on that adventure. I guess it also shows how strong and connected in love you as a family are. I think, now it's this time to enjoy all of your successes.💫👑 Thank you for the nice housetour.🙂
Alter our return to Germany from a holiday in the US many years ago we invested in an American style ceiling fan with a 'silent' motor. The best thing ever especially as Summers are getting hotter. Easy to find on the internet and affordable compared to air con.
Its modern in appearance and the century long influence of the Bauhaus can be felt. Simple, clean lines with a timeless look for casual and relaxed living. A very German thing I would say and this is exactly my design taste!
Absolutely beautiful decor and aesthetic. A wonderful combination of clean lined, minimalism with the warm, welcoming, personable. Absolutely lovely space. Glad it came together so well for you after all of the effort!
Top tip for your white sofa, get it ceramic coated by a specialist. Spills "spill" straight off! Same idea as having your car ceramic coated, it costs a bit but does the job!! PS: Fab house, I'm very jealous! I can't wait for the Technic room video!
We've been working on moving back to germany for a few years now and you guys are living the dream and loving the new haus as you've pretty much built the exact haus we'd build - sans the tv placement :)
Happy for you that you finally moved into your house. Could you do a video about the differences/quality of the house. Example: Front door, sturdiness, how many locks/bolts around the frame, airtight.. Windows, 2 or 3 pane, how many bolts around the frame, material, soundproof, Rolladen... Heating system, floor heating, thermostat, per room individually... Faucets and water, water always circulating to prevent growth of bacteria... Kitchen, all bottom drawers, no cabinets on the bottom, quality if the kitchen, induction oven, dishwasher and fridge in kitchen design... Insulation of the house, how thick are the walls, concrete or stone, how thick is insulation... Thanks and have a wonderful time at your new house.
Beautiful house, congratulations! I agree with you on the ceiling fan. Last year I got one in my living room (Dutch house, no airco) bc I figured the summers are only getting worse.
ein tolles Haus! Gratulation! :-) zu den Ventilatoren, wir haben in unserer Wohnung auch 3 Stück an den Decken montiert. Ich habe sie diesen Sommer wirklich geliebt ;-)
You have a wonderful home and I hope you enjoy many happy years in it, thank you for opening your lovely home to us! Small rooms do actually look and feel larger once furnished and decorated. My daughter lives in a small studio apartment and at first she went for absolute minimal and functional furnishing and decor, however a friend convinced her to do more with the room and once she filled it with wall art, plants, cushions and a rug it felt much larger!
Wonderful Sunday 4 you guys too > Your entry room -> Mirrows a german entry _JUST_ without a shelf to hide keys, lil things like a winter-hat etc. *OFC* you have your personal own style and such,... but just looking at the choosen _Entry room_ ceiling light,... this is realy german typical too ;) After all,... YOU have to *feel home* and i truely believe you more then deserved it to have *YOUR* dream home! Next,... garden-styling ;) All the best for you creative amazing people! Enjoy your sunny Sunday Cheers
I think the main reason ceiling fans are not that common in Germany is the fact that German summers are a lot shorter than in most parts of the US. Most Germans simply don't see the need to install something permanently that'll only be used for its intended purpose a few weeks a year. Especially when you consider the fact that Germans consider light fixtures part of the furniture, which they'll absolutely take with them when moving and which they want to fit their personal tastes. Many consider ceiling fans to be ugly, especially the cheaper models seldomly look nice, and then there's the fact that the light they emit also often isn't the greatest since their main purpose is moving air, not having mood lighting (at least with cheaper models). In short, most Germans would rather install a nice-looking light fixture that produces a nice fitting tone of light for the purpose of the room it is installed in, and then pull out a desk or floor-standing fan from the basement for the few weeks a year it actually gets hot.
I totally agree. In addition, I realized even at a young age that you get better used to the heat if you don't live - or work - in climatized spaces. So it doesn't feel troubling anymore after a short time. In my childhood, my grandparents also taught us some literally "cool" tricks to keep the house cooler than outside without spending a dime on it. Of course, not too cool, so you can stay used to the heat. But it was refreshing enough. I had to work once for weeks at an excavation site in Israel at 42°C. It wasn't a problem at all, but of course, with hard physical work, you have to drink a lot of water, and I mean, a lot - at least 6 litres a day. I didn't think I could do that, but it was a real need and no problem. In our time and age, we also have to cut energy consumption to preserve nature, but right now, also because Russia cut our gas.
You have a lovely home. I like the idea of a white couch in a small room. Our house has a combination living/dining space, and our couch is dark gray. It does make the space look somewhat smaller. We are planning to install ceiling fans in all of our rooms as well. We are even considering a small air conditioner system in our guest room, which is in the attic. Our temperatures here in Upper Harz are not that bad by Oklahoma standards, but the attic does get a bit warm. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Second refrigerators or freezers aren't specific to the US . There are Europeans that have second freezers and refrigerators in the garage , If we have a chance at a cheap mass buy like meat or vegetables we do like to store that food.
Kitchen counter top:: you guys might want to re-consider and maybe abandon granite, bcause it blunts your knives .. and can be etched by cleaners containing organic acis. You might want to contemplate if plywood coated with >1mm melamine resin paper suits your preferences (and can be delivered before the end of the century ;-) ). This surface is kind to your knives and lasts forever (stay away from the cheap Baumarkt junk, though). Greets and keep up the videos! Bernhard
Hi guys! It was fantastic to see your beautiful home! I envy you the second fridge, but I haven’t got room, so well thought out there! I‘d be very interested in which expert opinions/contractors were useful and not. We built and it was a heck of an adventure, as artists with an artist budget! Outside was supposed to be finished but then the pandemic hit, so we‘ve lived with the outside not being finished, still the makeshift steps to the front door, since we moved in. We want to finish it now - if the for us necessary workers can find time, but we‘re so nervous about it, since our industry has been hit so hard. But we also don’t want to look like we don’t care, because we really do and we appreciate living in a village where everyone takes such pride in the smartness of everywhere, from the communal areas, to their front drives.
No spoilers, anybody, please!
The house looks fabulous! It always amazes me that people put so much thought and effort into furnishing their houses. I hate shopping for furniture and so on (actually, I hate shopping in general!), and I tend to be very minimalistic and functional. When I decided to move six years ago after living in the same flat for 22 years, there were two things from the previous flat that I said had to be in the new one: underfloor heating and an additional half-bath. What a godsend that is! A third thing, actually. Since I had in the meantime purchased a car, the new place had to have an assigned parking space in a garage of some sort. That was indeed wise. For a number of reasons, street parking in my neighborhood has become almost impossible. When I came back from London last week, I took a car-sharing vehicle to come home from the airport. It took me longer to find a parking space than it did to drive here from the airport! Enjoy your new home!
Totally get it with the parking space. We did carsharing for 3 years, but prior to that Jonathan had an older car that we kept around. But since we lived in Old Town in an apartment without dedicated parking, we were constantly having to hunt for a free space amongst all of the tourists. Half of the time we didn't even use the car because we didn't want to have to deal with finding a new parking spot when we came back. 😂
What a gorgeously decorated house. Congratulations to both of you. You have accomplished so much this last year, and this house is the crowning price for all the work you have put in. And of course we understand to not show the view or a kid's room, no need to apologize. Anyways, enjoy the wonderful views and your own space and thank you for sharing it all with us.
The bedroom of the apartment I had in Germany had a wall of built-in cabinets. It was a feature I liked so much that one of these days I want to replicate it in my American house.
First of all, welcome to Germany. I must congratulate you for your very good research, I learn even with your videos still a lot about Germany and it's really fun. It is also something like looking in a mirror, I have often recognized me. I work for an English company, I had to realize that UK and USA are closer together than UK with the continent. We Germans are often the over engineers and the AngelSchsen the foil painters. As always it depends on the mixture. Your contributions promote the reduction of prejudices, keep it up. What has surprised mic in UK and USA. How can you build windows that open from the bottom up and they can not be opened and cleaned from the inside. Greetings to the Black Forest.
Ach ja..ist immer wieder schön euch zuzuschauen ;-) Ihr habt ein gutes Gefühl für Inneneinrichtung. Seems like i am the only one who is writing in german here. Because i know that you understand all of it.
Ashton, you have a PERFECT media voice. Have you been trained, or have you always had a perfect voice where every syllable can be heard? ...and yes Jonathan, you have a good voice too (I don't want to let him feel bad...).
I'm looking forward to every video of yours and you guys never disappoint! The quality of each video with the shots slowly moving to create interesting and capturing moments, is amazing! The house very much looks like a modern German house I would say. The only difference would be the ceiling fans, which me and my wife have but almost never use 😉. The whole house is a master piece! It's such a great combination and how each room "flows" into the next feels natural. Regarding your question: How do you feel about being able to fix things in your house that may break down? We've got hit by disaster after one another. Leaking pipes, hornet nests leaking through our ceiling, broken heating. I could fix some on my own but I genuinely feel like it gets more and more difficult, even though I'm an engineer myself and should know how all of it works (one never does 😊). You can be so happy to have such a wonderful house that you planned yourself! It's a great achievement!
Thank you so, so much. ❤ And great questions! We will try to tackle this in an upcoming video. I will say, however, that Jonathan is VERY handy but there are still quite a few things that definitely give us some pause when thinking about fixing it ourselves.
Thank you very much for showing us your fantastic house! I like very much what you have made out of it, especially the lighting. I love the lamp over the table in the dining area and I think it's the same design like the lamp over the mirror in the lower bathroom. I also like the black fittings in the upper bathroom and the black sink in the kitchen. The colours and furniture in the entire house are so well planned and nice looking, without a doubt you could make a lot of money of planning those things for other people. Another highlight is the garage! Great choice of tools and wall mounts. The only thing I would have done different is the colour of the walls. I would choose grey, because one day you will hit the wall with a wheel of your bike.
That's a good idea. I would like to also put a stainless steel panel on the wall behind my work bench to protect the wall while I'm working, but painting would be a great idea behind the bikes.
Thanks for the tour, I was really waiting for it. :) I can totaly relate to the amount of children books - we got 2 kids now and the amount of books we have flying around is enormous!
Gratulations ! Very very nice. Its friendly and modern at the same time and seems very inviting. We finished our house in 2018 and implemented a very similar stile and didnt regret one bit of it. My wife had the same worries about space before we moved in although we planned the whole house and every detail together on the computer - but it seems that the empty rooms look smaller then they are. sure some psychological thing. All the best for your family and a happy life at your new home !
This video is about what is easy to obtain in the USA (low real estate prices but hard to make in Germany, such a home is like between 600 k to 1 million (by the current prices on the market, depending on the area)
I'm am traditionalist, I grew up in a 6500 square foot house that was full of antiques, built in 1901 it was a Spanish Colonial, it was a very formal house, our summer house was a huge Victorian built in 1890, filled with summer furniture. If your home is American style, it's mid century modern. I'm not into stark myself, but every one has different taste.
Happy Sunday Everyone! We normally just post once per week, but this past Wednesday we had a special surprise video! If you haven't already, be sure to check out Jonathan's AMAZING Everesting attempt!

"This is Jack's home!"
Yes! That! So very much!
I do love you so much for that!
I love your house and how you are respecting Jack's privacy!
Thank you so much. ❤️
I have been waiting long to finally see how you furnished your new house. I like the kitchen and dining room and the living room is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing that.
Congratulations! I am sure you are glad and hope you will enjoy your new home for a long time!!! And thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for sharing your life and now your home with the public through TH-cam. With winter around the corner could you share/vlog about life in Germany during that season? How will it go with your family in winter in the new home. Take care and be happy and healthy.
I think that would be a great video. Thanks for the idea!
Thank you so, so much. We are thrilled to be there and make memories in this home for years to come. ❤
Thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️
Same in the bigger Austria (Australia)!
Congratulation and I have a feeling you combined the best of two worlds. 😊
Love all the lighting and the totally cohesive look of the space.
In terms of space in the entrance: We have a shoe rack that sort of is hidden behind a two meter high mirror. Ist really neat and keeps the room more open.
We saw something like this at a store in Freiburg and thought it was VERY neat. Does it also have a bit of hanging space above it?
As a Canadian living in Germany I can completely relate your house looks wonderful. Thanks for the Tag der offenen Tür
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
That's a great idea! I would like to put a stainless steel back wall panel behind my work bench, but something behind the bikes would be great too.
To my experience, it comes to the time where all the "new" is getting normal and you guys becomes kind of careless and touch the wall when you carrying stuff or something, yk. Or in fall, your son come into the garage, wanna park his bike wearing muddy Gummistiefel..... 🤦🤦
I think you got the point☺️
Another pro: It's an one time investment mostly
I enjoyed watching the first several of your videos about your new house in Germany. I appreciate the fact that you do not use foul language as my 11 year old granddaughter watches with me. I lived in Germany while serving in Germany with the 7th Army Chorus some 50 years ago. I am sure things have changed a lot since then but I loved the beauty of the country. Wish you the best and God bless.
When your backyard will be available take time to décide which plants you want and how you want to stage the place.
You have built a very beautiful home. I like it very much. Congratulations. I can't wait to see how your first Christmas in this home turns out. For me, Christmas is always the point when the value of home becomes tangible. I wish you all the best and lots of happiness for your future in this home.
We are SO excited for our first Christmas here later this year.
Ein sehr schönes neues Zuhause! Stilvoll, praktikabel und gemütlich. Ich wünsche Euch eine wundervolle und liebevolle Zeit und gute Nachbarn!
Danke!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Btw. We live in an Area with 40 new houses: there are ~40 garage fridge, because the beer doesn't cool on its own ;-)
no one in germany would say this - because the most germans do not own a house. and if they do it then they simply build one.
Wishing you many happy memories in your new home!
Thank you so much 🥰
@@TypeAshton 🥰🇨🇦🌲
My utmost respect from what I have witnessed in this and previous videos about the planning and design of your home. I'm going to guess that you Ashton made the biggest contribution here. From the colors to the design, this was done by someone who knows design and has an artistic eye. I would never have been able to pull something like this off in my lifetime, but the result is just stunning.
Hi Opa Andre! Have a lovely Sunday!
@@LaureninGermany Thank you Lauren, I wish you the same!
Once again an excellent video. Congratulations on your new home. The absolute worst part of moving into a new home is assembling a large, newly purchased closet. There is absolutely nothing worse.
This is a beautiful home! I love the artworks ☺️
And by the way... happy new year!
Gratulation zum Einzug. Sehr schönes Haus. 👍😀
Danke!!
I'm so happy for you guys! Congratulations.
so nice and cozy
love the paintings
Wow, those installations take up a lot of room. In Denmark its usually tugged away in a closet (60x60cm).
Beautiful house, congratulations! Surpriced that you didn't go for a walk-in closet. I lived in the US for 15 years, and I "can't" live without one😄
Congratulation for your new house!
☀️👪💐
You are so brave and powerfull to go on that adventure. I guess it also shows how strong and connected in love you as a family are.
I think, now it's this time to enjoy all of your successes.💫👑
Thank you for the nice housetour.🙂
Thank you SO much for all of the kind words.
Your new house is really very nice👍😀
Alter our return to Germany from a holiday in the US many years ago we invested in an American style ceiling fan with a 'silent' motor. The best thing ever especially as Summers are getting hotter. Easy to find on the internet and affordable compared to air con.
Good luck and happiness in your new home…the house looks pretty German to me…
Its modern in appearance and the century long influence of the Bauhaus can be felt. Simple, clean lines with a timeless look for casual and relaxed living. A very German thing I would say and this is exactly my design taste!
Wow what a really beautiful home. Congratulations guys :)
Absolutely beautiful decor and aesthetic. A wonderful combination of clean lined, minimalism with the warm, welcoming, personable. Absolutely lovely space. Glad it came together so well for you after all of the effort!
Thank you so much Gerad! We need to have you guys by very soon!
This would be a GREAT video idea. Thanks! We will try to answer some of these in an upcoming episode.
Beautiful house, congratulations! I agree with you on the ceiling fan. Last year I got one in my living room (Dutch house, no airco) bc I figured the summers are only getting worse.
Thanks for sharing! It is a beautiful home-good job
ein tolles Haus! Gratulation!
It has been very nice to see it all come together. We hope to make many memories here for years to come. ❤️
ich freue mich für euch, soooo schön gemacht, auch bei der ausstattung und einrichtung auf qualität geachtet, alle selles gute im neuen haus
Wonderful Sunday 4 you guys too > Your entry room -> Mirrows a german entry _JUST_ without a shelf to hide keys, lil things like a winter-hat etc.
*OFC* you have your personal own style and such,... but just looking at the choosen _Entry room_ ceiling light,... this is realy german typical too ;)
After all,... YOU have to *feel home* and i truely believe you more then deserved it to have *YOUR* dream home! Next,... garden-styling ;)
All the best for you creative amazing people!
Enjoy your sunny Sunday
Cheers
Many beautiful years in your new home!
Second refrigerators or freezers aren't specific to the US . There are Europeans that have second freezers and refrigerators in the garage , If we have a chance at a cheap mass buy like meat or vegetables we do like to store that food.
Congratulations and may you live in it happily!
Also, your duvets have been Germanized! As in using 2. :)
Thank you! We are so excited for the memories to be made within these walls..
Lauren!
No spoilers, anybody, please!
@@LaureninGermany oh, dear... Titus 😄 and I am most definitly not going to spoil that one for you!
I am happy you do respect your child’s privacy.
Thank you. ❤️❤️
So glad you enjoyed the tour. ❤️❤️❤️
I think having a house that is build into the mountain side is helping to level temperatures in the house and around
Ach ja..ist immer wieder schön euch zuzuschauen ;-) Ihr habt ein gutes Gefühl für Inneneinrichtung. Seems like i am the only one who is writing in german here. Because i know that you understand all of it.
I was really looking forward to this video!
Yay! Thanks!
Nice!
Good that you got a "tech room" by now briefing now.
Ashton, you have a PERFECT media voice. Have you been trained, or have you always had a perfect voice where every syllable can be heard?
...and yes Jonathan, you have a good voice too (I don't want to let him feel bad...).
ah wow thank you so much! ❤️
I am not entirely sure, but it might be those stone blocks that will be put into your backyard might come from the company my dad works for. :D
Lookin' good! What fascinates me is that bungalows in germany have four levels!
Beautiful home. I’m retiring in Germany in 6 years. I have so many questions. 😊
Gratulation..great job, your house looks phantastic. Work is over now you can enjoy your home.
Thanks for the tour, I was really waiting for it. :) I can totaly relate to the amount of children books - we got 2 kids now and the amount of books we have flying around is enormous!
Always happy to foster a love of reading 📖 ❤️
Gratulations ! Very very nice.
Its friendly and modern at the same time and seems very inviting.
We finished our house in 2018 and implemented a very similar stile and didnt regret one bit of it.
My wife had the same worries about space before we moved in although we planned the whole house and every detail together on the computer - but it seems that the empty rooms look smaller then they are. sure some psychological thing.
All the best for your family and a happy life at your new home !
Thank you so much. It is so funny how much different the spaces look and feel when you add in furniture. Definitely a better sense of scale.
Incredible. Found your channel recently and fell in love with you guys
You made a good life in Germany. The house looks well made.
Thank you! We really love it.
