Keep your chickens cool during a heat wave.

People worry about their chickens in the winter, but a heat wave during the summer could be deadly to your flock. Give them plenty water and shade, that's the main thing. All other ideas can help, but not essential.
Survivalists will always talk about water and shelter for survival. Animals are no different.
On top of water and shade could be ice, fans, misting jets, cold watery treats like watermelon etc. These are all good and there is lots more ideas out on the internet.

Your chickens are very lucky to have caring keepers such as yourselves. :-) We give ours half a watermelon when we can during heat waves. They've been on sale ATM, so yes, they've had some during our heat events over the last few days, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Keeps them hydrated and does help to bring their core temp down a bit.

Yes, I'm going to get some watermelon tomorrow and put it in the freezer. Like a giant ice lolly.
