Took me several web searches to figure all this out and ended up ordering a motor for 36 bucks off amazon. Thank you for taking the time to post this info because it helped me separate the motor.
Thanks for the video. I got an F21 but I was lucky and it was just a bobby pin that got through the trap and jammed the motor. Your video helped me figure it out without calling for help. Thanks!
New pump on ebay is $38 with free expedited shipping. This is a super easy repair anyone can accomplish. Unplug the washer, three screw to remove the front panel, lean the washer forward and drain from the front plug. A squeeze of the pliers to remove the 2 hoses, unplug the power to the pump, one screw to remove the pump assembly, three screws to remove the pump, put the new pump back in the the reverse order. Total joy after receiving the pump, 30 minutes. Done.
Thanks for the tutorial, having the same issue, nice to see what I'm dealing with here... Throwing an F21 code as well, but having an issue removing the old pump, won't go the full turn to remove. This shows me that there's some more things under there to remove also.
That pump is still good, that propeller has a seal and it comes off, there is stuff stuck on the other end of the propeller. I thought mine was toast as well but I took it off, got behind the propeller and took all the shit out now it works fine.
+motley4evr Haha the f21 warning just happened to me a week ago so I searched up the code and found the water pump was clogged. I thought it was warped like yours but I cleaned it out and installed it so see if it worked and it did. Cheers, have a great day.
Thanks for he video. Our HE2t just crapped out also. Error F-21. Cannot belive how many bad pump error complaints there are on these washers. Ours is just 3 years old. Our GE"s lasted 10-15 years... Had to repair both Kenmore HE units already (Dryer and washer) Absolutely nauseated at the lack of quality from a Kenmore. #neveragain
I have a Kenmore HE2 Plus washer the pump went out. Went to my local repair shop. Order the pump for $100 installed it my self. If you have internet you can find how to do anything yourself.
Just fixed a problem with my HE2 Plus, which was giving the f-21 code as well. It started when I got the code for slow drain so I emptied the filter. Ran a couple of loads and all of a sudden got the f-21. I figured maybe the pump was worn out trying to work with a clogged filter. After finding this video I opened the filter drain thingy again to see if the inlet for the pump was clogged too, and it wasn't. I manually turned the impeller on the pump a few times with my finger (you can reach it easy when the filter is out) and closed everything back up... and it seems to have magically started working again. Maybe it just needed a jump start to start turning again? I dunno... I'll just be thankful I don't have to buy a new one to replace it.
My washer wouldn't drain i removed the pump and there was small sock stuck in there, Put it back together it solved the problem but now I have a small drip coming from in between the pump and the assembly. I tried taking off and back on a couple times appears to be seated correctly all around but doesn't have that tight feel it originally and still drips. Any ideas?
+Alicia Gillus I had the same problem. Disconnect the power to the motor. To pull off the plastic housing for the motor use a screw driver to pry the fasteners over the plastic incline ridges (looks like a triangle). Then for the motor - it's locked into the pump assembly with teeth which you can see can be removed by screwing the motor clockwise, only there is yet another little plastic incline ridge that you must first pull back with the tiniest screw driver before you can separate the motor from the pump assembly.
Im getting a F28 Error code on my HE2T.and when I power it up it always defaults to the sanitary setting. My first error code was F22 and that was solved by cleaning out the drain but now the F28 error comes up. Completely checked the door interlock, Water level Sensor and all the connections. I went back to the drain filter and stuck my finger in where the impeller is and it was very sloppy. I removed the pump assembly and disassembled the motor and found the impeller screwed up on the shaft. Then I pulled on the shaft and the motor rotor came out along with some water. So I'm guessing the motor grounded out causing the error code. I'm looking for a motor now but I'm wondering if it caused any other problems with the MCU. So the motor is about $75. and if the MCU is bad that's another $250 so I'm thinking it might be time to just get a new washer...what do you think? My washer is maybe 8 years old and I hate throwing good money into a bad machine.
You can buy parts for these through searspartsdirect (dot) com. Enter your model number and pull up the diagram. This pump is about $84 and I found it in stock at my local store.
Justin Hyatt Looks like they don't sell the o-ring that goes between the pump and the housing either, going to be pretty upset if i have to buy a new housing and pump unit for a o-ring!

Wow, can't believe I found this error coded first try. Thanks, man, hopefully it's just clogged!
I'm not sure how the pump comes out I think their are clamps that you squeeze to release

Right on!
Good luck!!
did you find a solution?
Thanks! I'll try that

I'll pay anyone $20 for the plastic twist cap from your old pump. Mine cracked and Sears doesn't sell it separately from the pump assembly.

These are the most overthought piles of shit on the planet! One problem after the other. The best of the worst appliance designed ever.
Maybe you just got a lemon. Remember, they make hundreds of thousands of these things.
