- Ah, Chip's Challenge. One of the first "You need X to X!" puzzle games. Incredibly fun! This is the first 10 levels, as 10 is a nice number. I may upload more in the future, but this works for this segment of DO YOU REMEMBER?- obscure computer tidbits from the 90s-early00s! This game is from the Microsoft Entertainment Pack 3.

I should point out that this was a Windows 3.1 game. Not a Windows 95 game. Also, it originally debut in 1989 on the Atari Lynx, and got ported to multiple computer platforms, including MS-DOS. The reason why people remember this version more than the others is because it was bundled with the Microsoft Entertainers Pack, which came bundled with just about every PC back in the early mid to mid 90s.
My birthday is tomorrow and with the whole COVID-19 running around, I strangely started to remember Chip's Challenge and I wanted to re-play it. I remember when I was younger, my Dad got a computer from a coworker he knew back in the day, and that thing was loaded with tons of games like this, Chip's Challenge, Ski-Free, Pipe Dream, Misson Command, Snakes, and this one 3D tank game where they were wireframe and were a green color (I can't remember the name). I don't know how they were on it now thinking back, but I played those games till that computer literally caught an electrical fire. Those memories are what lead to me becoming interested in video games, getting my first Gameboy Advance SP for Christmas, and eventually lead me to get my Bachelor's Degree for Computer Science in Game Production and Design. I would still ask my Dad about it to this day, but he doesn't remember it completely. Hopefully one day, when I have a kid, I'll show them these exact games and hopefully inspire them to find something that they'll be passionate about one day. Thank you Dad for these wonderful memories.

I was looking at This Guys Videos for Games. I have MANY of them. Most of these came in a Entertainment Pack. These are JUST as fun to play now as it was then!

I used to play this game on my grandma's old computer when I visited her in California during the 1990s and the early 2000s. Brings back so many memories... I could never beat this game, but it was still fun to play. :)

I used to play this on my parents' windows 98 Gateway pc. Recently while I was in college, my parents were kind enough to let me take the hard drive out of that pc. I borrowed an IDE to USB cable from the Engineering and Physics department (I majored in Physics) and I copied that Chip's Challenge game to my laptop.

Chip's Challenge is a 16-bit game for Windows 3.x and it was included in Entertainment Pack 4 (at least originally).
I used to enjoy playing this game but I loved the tunes even more. However, one tune is missing from this video.

Chip's Challenge only came with two tracks by default. If played on a Windows 3.1 PC that had the Canyon.mid file installed (which it was by default), though, it would add that track to the rotation if it was in the correct folder. I only ever played it on Windows 95 and never had it in the right folder, so I never heard it, but I'm quite sure that's the song you're thinking of (and I didn't know about this until much later, years after I'd made this video, or I'd have added it manually). It`s amazing how simple 2D games can be more fun than the 3D games we have today.
Chips challenge brings me more back to Windows 3.1 than 95.
I just got my old computer up and running with a dual partition HD with both 3.1 and 95 on it, so I can finally play all my old games again, with all the sounds and music :-D

It was, indeed, madmanizing. I too had the songs go through my head everyday, all day. PM sent for download, as it is now freeware.
This was my game when I was a kid. I remember even making my own paper version of this game to play with friends, and avoiding monster or moving obstacles was determined by rock, paper scissors. Good old days
YAY we all can remember!! im 27 now,those where the days,i always played this at school on the breaks,we snuck it in lol :) as well as commander keen and doom love the old days! and lets not forget TIM that stands for the incredible machine 1 & TIM 2 was just as awesome ! love it =D

@LilPup182 I can't exactly remember, but I think I set up a windows 98 bottle in crossover. I sold my macbook, so I'm not able to check. Sorry, if that doesn't help, but hopefully setting up a windows 98 bottle will work. I may have also changed an option related to DirectDraw .

i miss this game. i used to have the passwords to the levels i was able to do any level that i wanted.
This game was also on Windows 3.1. I remembered my brother had a Win3.1 computer back in the day and played the hell out of it years ago.

@DrWatsonPostmortem It was preloaded on the "Windows Entertainment Pack" floppy set that was often included by distributors with copies of Windows 95. So, yes, in a way.
Yea I remember this vividly, it had no sound on our Windows 3.1 system though. Just as well.

Does anyone remeber the game where you can race with differents cars and future cars in streets and Mars and use turbo,? I used to play this and Hercules action game several years ago.
We must be all at similar ages as some who were older had no interest in games on pc.. Other than maybe solitaire. And younger ones grew up to windows xp or maybe millennium. So only few remembered this game or have actually played it with intention of completing every single level

fun facts: press crtl+K to be able to skip levels without needing a password. If you still want to play the game you can either 1. use a virtual machine to emulate an older version of Windows 2. Download the fan-created TileWorld or 3. Buy the game along with chips challenge 2 from Steam

Funny thing is, even though this game was for Windows when it came out, I can't get it running on Vista or Windows 7, yet my Mac runs it fine via crossover. :p
