Empowering Truth: Experts and Allies Debunk Danielle Smith's Anti-Trans Policy

  • Let’s talk about the facts.
Not conspiracies, not false myths spread on social media - facts.
Danielle Smith’s policy targeting trans and gender-diverse youth is an attack on a vulnerable group of youth and on thousands of Albertans. It is a massive overstep into private health care decisions. And it is an attack on the fundamental education rights of kids in our province.
But don’t take it from me: listen to the experts and allies in our video. Listen to the people with real, lived experiences.
Share this video and information with your friends and help combat the misinformation being spread by the Alberta government.
Sign our petition and tell Danielle Smith to stop pursuing these proposed changes.
Tell her that Albertans believe all human rights must be protected.

Friday 6:15pm Feb 16th. This is an excellent video! It provides the truth from experts behind the misinformation about trans youth and their needs as presented by Danielle Smith. Albertans need to see this so I hope it will be shared widely. I also hope Albertans will address their views directly to Danielle Smith by telephoning her office and/or emailing her. Well done and thank you to the NDP for this.

I'm genuinely interested in the chemical or biological data behind gender dysphoria. Basically, why do trans kids feel like they're the wrong sex. I may use the wrong terms here, but I'm trying to learn.

No you're not (genuinely interested). Because if you WERE you'd do a google search. There is TONS of info on the science of gender vs sex traits and TONS of info on all the MANY variances of chromosomes.
People say stuff like you are saying but then ignore everything out there.
You legitimately interested? Google 'gender variances in chromosomes'. Google 'chromosome variances and sex traits'. Google "sex vs gender'.

I don't know much on the biology. But when it comes to how they might feel I've got an idea:
Think of it like you are attending an event and you need to wear certain clothes. You hate those clothes, but because it's a special event you wear them. Now imagine it's like that all the time no matter where you go: school, work, with friends, even with your family. Your still stuck in the clothes that you hate even when you're not wearing any.
I think that's sorta what it's like. But I'm not trans, so take it with a grain of salt.

“Little is known about the long-term side effects of hormone or puberty blockers in children with gender dysphoria.
Although the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) advises this is a physically reversible treatment if stopped, it is not known what the psychological effects may be.
It’s also not known whether hormone blockers affect the development of the teenage brain or children’s bones. Side effects may also include hot flushes, fatigue and mood alterations.”

Who should choose when a kid must START transitioning?
Should it be the kid him/herself, with their under-developed brain, inability to understand risks and no grasp on long term consequences?...
The parents, who are legally responsible and liable for the kid, and who live the closest to the kid?
    The teachers?
The social worker or the therapist?
    The doctor?
    The political regime?
The whole non-binary trans thing nowadays is a fashion. Kids buy into it because they are confused about being asked the question, because early teenage is uncomfortable and also because it has the side benefit of freaking out their parents (!). This is the equivalent of coloring our hair in the 80's, or wearing a skirt too short in the 50's.
The big issue here is NOT about preventing legit cases where transition is obviously required. The real issue is about the other 95% where, if time was allowed to do its work, the questions and discomforts would sort themselves out.
Down the road, if this social "experiment" fails, then who will care? Who will bare the consequences? Is it the doctor? The psychologist? The politicians? The teacher? Nope. These people are all protected by social laws and do not have to live with the problem they helped creating.
The one who should take the FIRST and FINAL decision about it should be the same people who bear the full and long term consequences of it down the road. The kids, along with the parents should be the one to decide.
And NO, do not ask my 5 year old kid if he prefers to use the boy or the girl's bathroom... That question alone is the first step in this mess. Let my kid grow normally. And if you think he/she is not well with his/her sex, bring it up to me. I am the parent.

It would have been more meaningful and effective to have gender dysphoric and non-gender dysphoric people, in a more even distribution, speak to these issues. The reality is that a preacher preaching to the converted (no pun intended) does not gain support from those outside the church. Unfortunately, this video comes across as just one more demonstration of a politician trying to gain votes, no better than the other political leaders including the one she tries to demonize. Hopefully, one day issues like this can gain awareness and understanding outside of politics with its ulterior motives and agendas.
