    Great tip Tatyana. Bicubic and bilinear were algorithms created in the early 90’s to deal with pixel aliasing on rasterised images that you described here so perfectly. In most high end apps, anti-aliasing algorithms are applied automatically but in Procreate you have to turn them on, as you advised. Bilinear is great for images that have a lot of straight edges, although the algorithm uses a linear approach to eradicating them. Bicubic handles all other artefacts and is based on a 3rd dimension within the algorithm. At least that’s what my Professor told me years ago.
    As always, great video, great tip and a happy smile sweetie. ❤️❤️❤️

    came here searching for a way to avoid banding issues, didn't get an answer since the video wasn't about it, but instead learnt another life saver! i have to resize and rotate so often, even final images because there's just things I happen to notice in the final stages of the drawing that would just look better smaller/bigger/softly rotated etc. - i grew so tired of redrawing the lines, i will use this from now on and while I wasn't searching for it, it's at the very least a very welcomed advice!

      Glad to be of help, even if it's on a different topic. 😄 I almost always use 'monoline' brush, or something similar, so I haven't had to deal with banding much. Hope you find a solution for it! And yeah, that blurriness after transform drove me crazy before learning about this setting, and I was redrawing lines too. 😆

    Hey, Tatyana. I'm having this problem even with Bicubic or Bilinear mode, it's better than Nearest Neighbor, but still a very bad result when I scale down by a lot.... I'm so frustrated, I've working on a Children's Book, doing the drawings separately using the biggest canvas possible, and yet, when put them all together, scaling it down, Procreate does a terrible job and the only solution I have now is paint every edge again in this smaller canvas ... I can't believe I'll have this whole amount of extra job, I realized it when I am already with almost the whole book done...

    • @Kawaii_PlanIT

      Something I do to avoid scaling down in Procreate is to export to my computer and use either Photoshop or Affinity Photo at a larger canvas size than my iPad allows and then move everything around as needed. I hope it works out for you!

    • @tatyanadeniz
      @tatyanadeniz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lee, so cool that you are diving into Procreate! Making circles in Procreate is SUPER easy. :) Draw a line that somewhat resembles a circle and hold the pencils on the canvas. It will active "quick shape" feature. Keep holding the pencil on the canvas and put your finger on it - this will turn the auto-completed oval into a circle. :) You can see thins in action in this video: th-cam.com/video/jmwkst8Zk8w/w-d-xo.html

    • @tatyanadeniz
      @tatyanadeniz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, JPEG gives you the highest compression (smallest file size), so the edges get blurry again. Tiff is a lossless format (with LARGE file size) and cannot be used on social media. But you can use PNG which you CAN use on social media, and it will still give you a pretty good quality image. Let me know if this helps!

    • @Kawaii_PlanIT
      @Kawaii_PlanIT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always use 300 DPI and as far as how big of a canvas size to use, I try to stick with at least 6 layers allowed on my big canvas sizes, but depending on which tablet you have you might have to play around with sizes and go down until you reach 6 layers allowed, this way you know how much your tablet can handle. I have an iPad Pro 9.7" and the max for me is 4896px x 3872px set to 300 dpi with 6 layers allowed.

      I did it. It works if you leave it bigger but if you shrink it down more it comes out blurry. I’m putting it in my pics in the PNG file instead of the JPEG file . I’m just trying to make collages with my art. The smaller pics aren’t coming out clear. I’m using them on a 1140x400 size paper does that have anything to do with it?

    • @tatyanadeniz
      @tatyanadeniz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lisapoggioli8959 hi Lisa, ok that makes sense. :) The key here is the canvas size of 1140 x 400. Any image would look blurry on that when you zoom in, because it's just not enough pixels to show the image clearly. So it's not because you are scaling the image, but because ideally your canvas (what you call "paper") should be bigger. For reference, my small iPad has resolution of 2388 x 1668 px. And when I start a new artwork, I am to go 4000 x 4000 px. 😆 I know this is HUGE! But the bigger the canvas, the more clear you can get the image and the larger you can scale it. I hope this makes sense... please do reply if this doesn't solve it for you (and if it does! hehe). (Note: bigger canvas means less layers in Procreate)

As Procreate updates, I am noticing more and more quality retained, even as I use "transform" and "liquify". So it IS getting better! 😄
