    Elvis was and lived his youth and teenage years in a black ghetto community. Watch Elvis and the black community it’s an EYE opener. I have respected and loved this man since my childhood some 69 years ago. I too am a white woman and when I first heard this it proudly afffected a little girl. Elvis was such a decent humble man. Watch the black community
    And yes we are ALL ONE
    God Bless ❤️

    You are wise beyond your years. I have been an Elvis fan for over 50 years and trust me Elvis put a lot on the line then in 1969 to do this song, and why among a host of other reasons, I have the utmost respect for him.. Thank you for reacting to Elvis us fans appreciate it. Please react to "If I can Dream" and to "Elvis and the Black Community" - thank you!

    Sweetheart, I'm 57 and I could sit and listen to your wisdom everyday. Hug your parents for me and tell them what a great job they did with you. However, hug yourself too because as an adult you choose to stay on the good path or depart and it looks like you've doubled down on being a GREAT young man. Secretly glad though you didn't listen to them about old school music because we couldn't go on this journey with you 😂. 🤫 Don't tell your parents that! God Bless you and yours. Love from Texas!💝

    I am an old white lady who heard this song when it was new. I took it to heart, with many of the "hippy" music of the time. And I have lived a life defined by compassion and continue. Racism in policing, education cuts in low income areas, and the injustices I here about daily cause me to continue to advocate for people in need. We need no more crying mommas.

    I loved to hear your reaction and your "rambling" about unity, all working together as one to make a better world. Young people like you can pick up the banner where the sixties wound down without finishing the job of civil rights, equal rights for all. Peace, love, and understanding is all still what it's about - what can make the world better - but man, it's so hard. Hang in there - stay hopeful and positive. I'm just another old white lady who feels hope when I hear young folks like you reacting to the music from my youth and hearing the same message.

      And there it is ladies and gentlemen. The comment from Steve Pomeroy. For those of you that don't know who Steve Pomeroy is. Steve Pomeroy is the person that makes comments under the name Depper. Now, Depper was in the band Mountain, they had the big hit " Mississippi Queen" he was the guitarist and he died more than 2 years ago. Steven even claims to be a musician who lives over seas. But you and I know differently don't we Steven Pomeroy. Steve Pomeroy has stolen the identity of a dead man and trading it as his own. Do your potential buyers know this? I see now that I found you out your comments are quit short. I wonder why?

    This song began to be played on the radio in April, 1969. I was 12 years old. It impacted me greatly. The TV mini-series "Roots" (early 1977; age 20) affected me similarly. And I was far from alone in that regard: The 1977 min-series caused a sea-change in attitudes among the general population--although the ground for that had been prepared by the events of the past 50 years, such as WWII, the Civil Rights movement and protests, and of course, MLK.

    • @emerald1805
      @emerald1805 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This song (written by Mac Davis) was based on truth, about a friend he knew growing up. The ‘Roots’ author Alex Haley states his movie and book were a completely fabrication & a myth, which he made up so black Americans would have a “good myth to believe in”. There have always been poor unfortunate people - who need their story told - but he purposely made up that whole story to cause division. It is the opposite of what this song was about.

    I loved Elvis as a child, but then I fell in love with Queen and never strayed from that love, no one ever compared. Yes, this song hits true… Elvis grew up in a ghetto, in the south. You should check out A Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen, written in remembrance of Elvis by Freddie Mercury, the official video is cool, also the live version during Live Aid in 1985. More Queen, please. Elvis was a big influence on Freddie, plus many more he always praised. TY.

    Toxic cycles do need to break.. My best friend her grandmother was a drug addict and was with many men who beat her, her daughters followed in her footsteps ( only difference is, is one didn't do drugs) but the one that did was my best friend's mom and she died with a needle in her arm and her youngest daughter was found dead ( at 31 yrs of age) on the bathroom floor from an overdose. My best friend had 3 kids and started doing drugs and getting with men that abused her. She dropped her kids off with their father and disappeared for 14 yrs. When she finally came back she was still doing meth and with a man that abused her and her husband before this new man hung himself in a hotel room and my best friend found him... Luckily my best friend has been sober for 7 yrs. Unfortunately her two daughters continued the cycle of getting with abusive men and one day they had enough and they decided to end that cycle. They are both in happy healthy relationships now and have beautiful happy and healthy children. It took 4 generations to break the cycle.

    I’m a 39-year-old Mexican lady and I have to say from the outside looking into the black culture. I feel like one of the biggest things is materialism. Sometimes I feel like inadvertently young black children. Specifically females are taught that self-love is found external instead of internally. now I could be way off the damn mark, lol but I grew up in the ghetto deep in the Mexican culture side-by-side with a black culture and materialism is thick and that paired with the inability to reach those materialistic goals. What you get is resentment, self-pity, lack of self-worth. I hate to say this, but underprivileged black and Mexican youth have every opportunity at their feet but they’re taught at a very young age not to reach out and grab it because “its not for them” Instead, they idealize materialism and pop culture. which is so unfortunate to me because like my own Mexican culture I feel like the black culture is so dynamic and beautiful and creative and emotional, and all that is stifled by this narrative and image that the rest of the world has about Black Americans.

    You didn't talk about pregnancy as a choice, lack of funds for medicine causes unwanted pregnancies, as does contraception failures and r¿¿e too. So these mum's can be wronged and crying from the start. Overly officious religious folk are trying to stop legal abortion too, which will give even less safe options, it's not their choice, so they need to be stopped, from forcing their views on others legally. We don't live in utopia, some folks have far less choices, but still have god-given free will. It's not their fault! There are so many ways the system has been broken for far too long, this was from the 50's, how much has actually changed yet? Children need mental, emotional, physical, nutritional, and educational support and protection, no matter where they are. Why does the system discriminate? Children in less poor areas need help too, why do the wealthy areas not get asked to re-distribute the funds at all? Why can taxes not pay for the nations needs? (I live in Australia, the government pays for schools, police and education does not depend on your area's funding.) Do too many avoid paying them, are they too low for those who have money? Some have far more money than they can ever spend in their life, how does that help out. Business keeps trying to snap up smaller firms. It's just like the monopoly game, someone wants to own everything, no matter who gets hurt. For folk in ivory towers, do you really think poor folk don't know the value of a dollar? Do you really think you would do so well without family wealth? Could you start with nothing and become wealthy without help? Think about orphans, it's not their fault either. They have some help as children, but get thrown out at a still young age. Should we be forced to go back to our country of origin? Hah! Every white person in the USA, and aussie, is an immigrant from somewhere, whether a forced or paid passenger. Could you go back to one country, I couldn't, i'm a mix of many places. All the best.

      @@MDreeezy it's not always a choice. I know a mum of 9 who had a conception fail, her son is a chemically caused gay, not his fault or any choice either. I have gay nephews from the pill, giving them the wrong amount of female hormone at the wrong time of development. 3 month after girls stop taking it, it gets out of their system, then they can safely become preggers, but during that time they have to use other methods, ask a doctor. Some under age girls, who are assaulted, become pregnant at crazy dangerous for them ages too. Waterways with the dross from women taking the pill can cause fish to be genetically defective too. The whole world has big problems.
