Yes!! We use both traffic lights and robots actually, robot is easier and is our colloquial word. The trash can…we use waste paper basket and bin, bin being the colloquial word. Petrol is short for petroleum. Gas is gas that you get in canisters - in SA sold at the petrol stations, and gas that is piped into your houses in the US for cooking.
I grew up with "oh shame" mostly meaning sympathy or pity: Like, "Oh shame, you poor baby." But people also use it kinda like 'Aww, that's cute/sweet".
Hi cutie, you live in South Africa 🇿🇦 a beautiful and the number one world class country in Africa, love from Okahandja, Namibia 🇳🇦 just some few miles north of South Africa 🇿🇦

Awesome video Kezia, love your vibe...some other SA words "Howzit" or "Howzit China" = Hi, Good day, comes from London Cockney English "China" = China plate which rhymes with "mate". We use words like: Bra = bro, cuzz (cousin), eksê = I say; eish = ja né = what can I say, it is what it is né, trash can = rubbish bin; ...we mix English with Dutch (Afrikaans), Khoi-San, Cape-Malay, Nguni, Sotho, Tswana...we were a Dutch colony for 150 years, followed by being a British colony for the next 150 years. The Dutch brought Malay workers from the Far-East & the British brought Indian workers from India, then we had all the local African tribes (First peoples = San, Khoi, Griqua then Nguni = Xhosa, Zulu, Swazi & Ndebele; then Sotho, Tswana, Tsonga & Venda) and language groups too all in the mix. Did I forget to mention "lekker / lecka = very nice / tasty / awesome / cool", bucks = money / Rands, oh and Robot = Traffic Light, we like to use words like "hectic, a-mazing, sista / sister, check you / see you, stunning, cute, divine" & many more odd quirks in language use, like the clicking sound...lol
Shame it's just a slang we don't follow the meaning. I mean we do know the specific meaning though. It's when i say yoooo I like your boots shame or yooooo it's so expensive shame. We just put it in every convo. Lol get used to it girl. Thanks I love your channel.
@@kezialovesupreme no problem. I love watching anything Africa and about our people. I plan on coming over and showing African lifestyle for the culture because we need it and America only shows the bad side.
😂 Our favorite term of endearment "ag shame"... 😂 Had to explain it to my guy from usa too "ag shame look at the cute baby" "shame did you hear about the accident" "shame that's so nice" 😂😂😂😂😂
Our medicines are scheduled 1-6. You need a prescription for medication scheduled 4-6, and you can buy schedule 1-3 medication as self-medication, and your insurance (medical aid scheme) pays for them all.
Lovley video...and yeah there is a difference between "Shame" and "Shem"...depending on the context...usually shem is used to say "oh ok, fine, cool, too bad, hard luck". In your context it was used as "oh okay...too bad I can't get what you got, due to the distance"...so instead of saying all that. She just used "Oh shem". Then the word Shame is used as is..."what a shame".
We also used to call it “Champagne” until US ordered us to stop using the word Champagne coz it’s theirs. We ended up using Sparking Wine or slang “Shapmpompo or Bubbles” US sometimes 🥵🙄
It was not the US 🇺🇸 which led us not to use the word Champagne for our sparkling wines. It was the European Union 🇪🇺 rather. The EU was protecting the interest of the farmers from one of their member countries, France 🇫🇷 in this instance as our sparkling wines🍷 were selling more than the sparkling wines from Champagne, a region in France from which the sparkling wines were named for.
Yeah the U.S. wouldn’t care about this. Champagne didn’t originate in the United States. It’s branding thing so even though strikes me as unnecessary (in that way only the French seem to need) it does make sense. They are protecting their brand.
If you’re a U.S. passport holder you can get visa on arrival for 90 days. You may need immunization but they don’t require it like West Africa requires yellow fever.
@@kezialovesupreme I was wondering now, since bonnets and hoods are headgear, maybe trunk, like boot, also refers to clothing worn below the waste, but nope, that's not the case.
As you said, they are undocumented. They pose a risk to communities as they have a tendency to commit crime to survive and it’s near impossible tracing them down. We have no problem with documented foreigners though. People should stop breaking rules and expect people to he okay with that.

A phamasict recommend medicine to a doctor , so that's why they are trusted in SA , I may be wrong , but that's what it is
Difference in pronouncing "water" , the emphasis in SA is the letter "t"

What's up with those dudes that are busy rising up against other undocumented fellow Africans.

Keyword, UNDOCUMENTED. And thats illegal. We are okay with anyone who comes here legally
It's inappropriate for any grouping to rise against their fellow humans, I believe there are government structures tasked to take care of that.
