    I was born in the Caribbean but I lived/studied in the UK for 4 years and in America for 2 years. I could not live in America because I realized it was all about money, competition and work, plus the anger and violence is like apart of the culture. In the UK the TV channels are more about romance, comedy and documentaries about the world. In the Caribbean we get a lot of American channels so that's why Caribbean people move to the US because of what they see on TV showing the good life. But we do not see any African channels in the Caribbean, just American and European and they spread bad news about Africa all day everyday brainwashing the people, so a lot of Caribbean people think Africa is all desert, poverty and wars. So I fully agree with everything you said Ashley.

    I must say we have been sold a lie, a mirage. At this point and age I learnt only in 2020 during the race of COVID 19 that USA is just a Third World Country in a GUCCI BELT. Africa is a place to be, we are carrying the Western World on our BIG SHOULDERS. Please come back home. We love you and appreciate ❤💕you. Despite your suffering and pains we need you and your contributions to take the continent forward.

    One thing i am noticing is that most AA will miss opportunities that some companies are heavily investing in the country ( South Africa) , with most who are well qualified would be suitable to companies such as Amazon , Google , etc would easily get the position that they might be missing because of their color in America , and also in South Africa we were taught to value time to relax , family and community is important to us

      That's great feedback. I've heard that many of the jobs available are IT/Computer Programing roles amongst the infinite opportunities for entrepreneurship in SA. Family and community seem to be a foundation of the African culture, I love that.

    My colleagues who have kids that are in school take time to drop kids off at school and pick them up whilst we keep being the dynamic team we are in an accounting firm. If I need to travel I'm able to do so due to flexible working conditions. It is amazing. I'm really grateful to be a South African.

I was surprised because I have never left Africa but I've seen Europe and America South And North and know there is good and bad like in any country. So how can a more developed country be so wrong about us? 🙋🏽 Love your channel 💕

      Theres alot of misinformation from western media outlets about both South Africa and the continent as a whole. The view point is from a colonized , twisted , perspective that’s meant to scare people from leaving The oppressive States, often citing exaggerated examples of rampant crime, poverty, and more in SA.

    Peace and Love Sister. I am pleased to see you looking so calm and relaxed. Of course, I understand what you are saying, after spending a year in Tanzania. One thing I would like to get your analysis on, is the difference between Tanzania and South Africa. When I return to the Continent, I was thinking about spending a few months in another country, perhaps on the Westside. I visited Ghana a few years ago, but I think I would rather try another country. Stay strong, and healthy.

    • @AshleyinAfrika
      @AshleyinAfrika  2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Peace Brother. I love both, as you know, but the biggest differences that I've noticed between the two are 1. SA has a premium level of infrastructure; buildings, roads, shopping malls, real estate communities, recreational campuses 2. A plethora of international educational institutions primary, secondary, collegiate, and university 3. SA is a metropolitan feel being an international destination for many sports and entertainment BIG MOMENTS. 4. If you go into the townships and rural parts of SA, you can experience the richness of the traditional African culture and their smaller communities and find local markets similar to markets in TZ 4. SA feels more diverse than TZ with Africans, Indians, Asians, Australians, Europeans, South Americans, and North Americans as residents --- it's a major international hub of the world.

    Thank you much my dear Ashley. You know, when they flight all the negatives about africa we look at ourselves as africans and ask ourselves where the hell they get this negative information from? We may not be as developed as some cities and town in Europe and US are and we are more developed than some of them as well but what is of great importance as an african is not monetary gains and accummulation of wealth and worldly materials but selffulfillment and realisation and acknowledgement of each individual's worth and humane treatment we give to each and everyone of us. We also pride ourselves about our ability to stand for each other and we have this spirit of sharing where nobody goes hungry when we as a community are available. Just last week an unknown man came to my door and knocked and my boy opened and there the man was all he was asking for was something to eat because apparently that day he did not get a piece job and he was holding a dog by the leash which was given to him by somebody whom he had worked for and when he came to collect the person paid him by giving him one of his dogs compounding his woes because both now had nothing to eat. I opened my refridgerator gave him a handful of items and a few tins of fish and baked beans and a few items and gave him almost R100 to buy food for his dog. It wasn't much but I couldn't let him starve and his dog. Most international philanthropists are doing what africa has been practicing for years and we as africans do not seek praise and recognition for helping a fellow human being. There is tranquility in our souls and we are unable to neglect and abandon in the hour of need. I just love you Ashley I mean your soft voice takes me to fantasies unknown. When are you coming back? Please visit Richardsbay in KZN when you come back to SA, I will be happy to host you.

    During the pandemic I learned about stocks and finance and I got the ultimate lesson in economics. We trade all of our time for money which has a value determined by white people. A job is modern slavery for everybody. Because the job market is unfair we compete with one another on unhealthy levels. The Wizard of OZ got us all fighting over the yellow brick road to the Hope Promise Land. We allow others to determine our value and that's why subconsciously we hate each other. The people at the bottom are most likely to fight by Design. Our own arrogance as black people help keep us in this position.
    Because of the ability to spend credit we think we make enough money. This is why wages don't match your worth. Most of us will go to the grave in debt that's not producing generational wealth. While in the meantime the wizard uses debt to make income off our demise. Malcom said we been hoodwinked.
    I love your assessment. Refreshing to know people pay attention to what's going on around them. Blessings to your message.
    P.S. post pandemic was a culture shock for me. If the pandemic didn't change you you're still asleep
