By watching this video I was able to determine a mistake that I was making. I was checking the lower assy for voltage reading and wasn't getting anything so assumed that the main motor pcb was defective. I realized from your video that it requires a load. That allowed me to check and focus on lower unit motor assy. Turned out I had an open circuit because one of the cables in the lower unit was cut inside the swivel assy.
I cleaned the contacts and checked the voltage which didn’t help but what I found was a loose positive wire where the brush head pivots. There are positive and negative fine wires inside the pivot ball which break over time due to repeated movement. I had to solder the positive wire to make a good connection and then it worked fine.
thank you for the tip, i just cleaned the contacts at from the brush and now it is perfect, yesterday i received an aftermarket brush but is not like the original one . i owe you more then a beer
I think I need your advice. My Dyson v10 motorhead brush bar is not spinning and I may have caused the problem. My question is it fixable? I cleaned the motorhead attachment with my shower head ( I said I was cute, I didn't say I was smart!! 😂) The water probably caused the damage because after letting it dry thoroughly it wouldn't spin. Is there any hope?
@@tracybrown4046 No! I think I ruined the motor with the water! Replacement is $100 so I bought, for $36.99 “For DYSON V7 V8 V10 V11 SV14 Head Roller Brush Motorhead Animal Plus Vacuum”. On eBay that works fine.
Hi there. My head is really clean and nothing in it. When I take the barrell off I can't turn that end piece of the motor - should I be able to? Mine is seized and won't move by hand I'm wondering if it supposed to be free. Thanks.
hi I have the same engine that was nailed; I disassembled very delicately piece by piece without breaking anything; I managed to extract the motor from the three guide shafts inside the container (and here I may have made a mistake) after disassembling it I got distracted and I don't remember if the three gears inserted inside the ring gear that rotate simultaneously around the main pinion are overlaid with a zinc and/or aluminum type washer or not; Do you have a picture or schematic of it?
Thanks for the great informative video which is the only one I've found that could possibly be the answer to my problem. The brush on my Dyson isn't spinning and I thought it was lack of power on the terminals you went across. Like your initial check there was no voltage until you put a 2 ohm resistor across which I assume simulates the winding resistance of the motor. Good work !
We’re you able to figure out the issue you were having ? I’m having same issue I’ve taken the whole thing apart cleaned all terminals and even added some dielectric grease for better conductivity with no luck. I still need to check power at the terminal to see if I’m getting any voltage.
Not sure what your problem is but I ruined my Motörhead washing it. Instead of the $100 replacement, I found a NEW replacement on eBay for $36.99. The description is “For DYSON V7 V8 V10 V11 SV14 Head Roller Brush Motorhead Animal Plus Vacuum”. Don’t get rid of your Dyson! You will regret it!
I’m on my third Moterhead in less than 2 half years I’m waiting on the third one (not in stock was advised could take 6 to 8 weeks )cost $150.very disappointed with Dyson customer service is nonexistent, I have invested too much to dispose of it….Never ever would recommend…..Still using the original battery
dyson is so terrible. for the price, it should be all brushless motors. and this is the worst canister design that cant be taken apart easily all to clean and its so prone to developing an odor. i took mine apart, barely, cleaned it, or so i thought, and it still smells bad. the worst vacuum design in the world and ive taken apart many.

Was it under warranty?

These Dysons are pure junk. Work great when new, but after 6 months nothing but problems.
I agree. Junk.
yeah, don't buy these things they are total garbage
