I have one of those, same colour but 2010 model D5. It has run 210000 km without any serious problems. Still feels modern, and much more space than the new V90. The D5 is a powerful and smooth engine. I will probably keep it until it falls apart, IF it ever does. I don't see any comparable replacement at a reasonable cost.

the place behind the center panel and the climate control is there because under the rubber mat where behind there is a keyhole, press down the car key so that you can enter neutral manually if the car needs to be towed
Back in 2015 my family and I went on a road trip from Gothenburg to Nordkapp and then back home again through Norway in my dads old 2014 XC70 D4 and I think I'm right when I say that the only thing that could have beaten the XC70s ridecomfort would be a RollsRoyce Phantom. 4000+ km with 0 complaints no pain or discomfort. It just ate the up the kilometers faster and better than I eat tacos :D I miss that old beauty..

Great review of the 2012 XC70. You make a great case to buy an older car, at much reduced cost too.
I have a 2015 Xc70 Crosstrek premium Plus 6 cylinders with 32,500 miles in the seashell color, bright interior. Hands down, the most smooth ride, no cabin noise! The best wagon/ride ever!

I got to compare a 2013 XC70 D5 AWD with a 2008 XC70 D5 AWD. I was surprised because they almost felt like a completely different car. The 2013 was quieter both engine and road noise wise, shifting was so smooth I couldn't even notice it.
It does have folding mirrors. They need to be set to automatic though.

Cant say it enough...such a great review...so true and so honest. Thanks for comparing the T8... The D5 AWD Polestar has 225HP/460NM on 18” is just the best. I never tried a SPA model. I should however. No money for it. Lovely review, nice to hear someone so positive on “ my car”... 👍
I do not think the trim is plastic. I haven't been able to confirm. I don't know where you are located so your trim may be different. In the states, where I am, Volvo had metal or wood trim in this era. I think the trim is brushed aluminum of some sort. Volvo does use plastic in certain areas but in this era, I don't recall them doing it on the trim. I actually like this trim very much with the black interior while I like the wood with the beige or lighter interiors.
I liked the regular v70. I didn't get the xc70. Still, it's a Volvo, it's nice.
Krif. Maybe it will be a good approach to test "old school" Volvos . An v70 II, and 850, to compare a level them with actual Volvo - Gelly cars.

Thanks for the classic review. I have a XC70 D5 2011 model Polestar with 15mm Heico spacers etc. Anyway how come you owe so many cars. How did you get the money. You just drive them or are they yours?
Thank you so much for the car review, it was very Nice to hear your opinions on this car, personally this is one of my favorite cars. By the way, i think the interior panels are in fact made of aluminium, not plastic, because one time a few years back, i sat in a xc70 like this one, same colour, interior panels and colours and same year model in norway in the winter, and i remember that the interior panel was so cold, that i knew it was some Kind of metal.

Thanks for doing these 'classic' vids. Really enjoy them. Please keep doing them inspite of the low view count. Maybe even do some even more classics... think 850s, 240s, even Amazons or P1800. Oh, and why not throw in a Saab occasionally?
This D3 motor as well as D4 were 2.0 litre 5 cilinder inline Volvo engines. Even more robust as 2.4 litre diesel engines. These run 600.000km with no problems if oil change is 20.000km and correct oil used.

I get a bit lost with the engines...so is it safe to say that with any of the 5cylinder engines, d3,d4 or d5, you can map them to 215 ?
@@dmcg6074 A 2012 D3 becomes D4 from 2013 and will be 215 equally.
The D5 however is already more powerfull than these, and will go from 215 to 230.

Local optimizing company offers 230hp. For D5 about 245
No problem with even (a lot) more power@@caky68 , but Polestar is legal and even updated in official vehicle papers. And, all waranties kept.
