You know we’re getting some deep cuts when we get to the video with just stadium sounds and no commentary. Absolutely love it
"Giving him the business down there" - it's simply impossible to top this one. Best ruling ever.
One of the all time gems.
“Yes, there are penalties in the Pro Bowl.”
0:57 “We got a personal foul on number 99 of the defense… after he tackled the quarterback, he was giving him the business down there… that’s a fifteen yard penalty.” 😂
Savage referee…
10:20 Same guy, "That's a personal foul on the kicker for trying to draw a penalty... Yeah!"
Best call ever... though "talking to America" is right up there...
There's another ref that said "he was giving him the business" I don't know his name though
You don't have to quote the whole thing, we all watched it too.
@@unkledoda420what harm was done?
Thank you for running these without a bunch of music. Well done! 👍
0:56 Are you serious? "Giving him the business". He really said that? LMFAO
So?
My favorite: false start, everybody but the center
One of my football bucket list items is to see that live.
5:22 coach:he did what ??!?
I’m surprised it took you three videos to get to “Giving him the business” lol
Can't start off with all the obvious ones! Haha
"He was givin' him the business down there!"💯
I like the cover photo for this video, because it's just a referee t-posing
10:19 Here's an old one ... September 23, 1984, as the San Francisco 49ers pay a visit to Veterans Stadium to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 21-9. If the referee's voice and unusual creativity in making this call sound familiar, that's Ben Dreith, two years before achieving eternal "He was givin' him the business down there!" fame.
12:36
What on God's green Earth is a "peelback block" 😭
From the official NFL rulebook.
Rule 12: Player Conduct
Section 1: Personal Fouls
Article 2: "Peel Back” Block
An offensive player cannot initiate contact on the side and below the waist against an opponent if:
a) the blocker is moving toward his own end line; and
b) he approaches the opponent from behind or from the side.
Note: If the near shoulder of the blocker completely crosses the front of both of his opponent’s legs, the block is legal.
Penalty: For a “Peel Back” Block: Loss of 15 yards.
Can't wait for part 4, love these!
love the vids
That is much appreciated! The aspect I find most fun about doing football videos is all the forgotten about things that are found looking back at decade-old games and plays. And as someone who's been starting to study rules of a few different sports, it helps me understand more about every rule, even the obscure, uncommonly called penalties.
"For trying to draw a penalty!"
That's pretty funny considering it's a legitimate tactic in basketball, even towards your own team to make the opponent re-shoot from the foul line.
My boy thought he was fancy kickin the onside kick
Ben Dreith was the best referee ! “Giving him the business !”
1:16 The Rams kicked the 55yd FG after the 5 yard running into the kicker penalty. They went on to win the game 20-10 in 2021.
Running in the kicker
Why does the Texans vs Giants have no broadcasting commentary?
I thought these were rare penalties? Running into the kicker? Fare catch interference? Clipping? Come on.
The title is "NFL Rare & Random Penalties #3", so Random applies to this play. It was a 3 point swing on the running into the kicker penalty. Fair catch interference is fairly rare.
0:16 What? He was trying a Rabona? With a football 🏈? 👀👀👀
10:21 "Personal Foul on the Kicker for trying to draw a penalty". My thoughts are this. 1) Hockey has a perfect penalty for this "Diving". 2) He was successful in drawing a penalty... on himself.
I’d love to know what went through the ref’s mind before he made the “Giving him the business” call lol
2:10 Isn't this just roughing the kicker? Though, "Running into the kicker" sounds a lot more pleasing.
No roughing the kicker is different usually called if you run into the plant leg. Also a bigger penalty.
Running into the kicker is 5 yards.
Roughing the kicker is 15 and an automatic 1st.
They’re two different penalties, based on severity/context. Roughing is 15 yards.
Inb4 giving him the business and shooting a bow and arrow
Where were the announcer voices in the Giants/Texans clip?
Yeah Ik super weird
I'm not sure. The only broadcast footage available on TH-cam didn't have commentary, but had other sound on.
Maybe they were all on a bathroom break 😂
0:57 “We got a personal foul on number 99 of the defense… after he tackled the quarterback, he was giving him the business down there… that’s a fifteen yard penalty.

literally word for word
10:52 yeah
How is running into the kicker rare or random?
Clipping used to be much more common decades ago. A lot of time now tho it is instead officially called an illegal block in the back.
Clipping is blocking an opponent from behind below the waist, provided the opponent is not a runner. It is not clipping if an opponent turns his back as the block is delivered or about to be delivered.
6:04 what is the penalty for and what did they do?
An illegal crackback block occurs when a player tackles an unprepared defender below the waist dangerously
RIP Gavin Escobar
Running into the Kicker really isn't all that random or rare.
I'm guessing the last one was declined?
14:02 I can't tell what he's saying here? What type of infraction??
Snap Infraction
9:14 felt what would've been too much?
Aint that the dude that rob detroit?
13:42 “not even touched” as you can clearly see the guy smack the kickers foot.
The ball wasn't touched. I guess if the defender got a piece of the ball the penalty would change or not be a penalty at all.
7:22 hmm
Ahh broncos all hail the donkeys!!! JK yo I'm a raiders fan. Just wanted to make fun but mad respect.
15:42 I don't see why people can't leap to block a FG or an extra point.
safety issue
@@joshuaguenin9507 well, I mean, I get that part, but don't they call it "unsportsmanlike conduct"? That's a weird way to call it.
@@ARandomInternetUser08 its a specific penalty unlike unsportmanlike:
Leaping. (defense) A defender at least one yard in front of the line of scrimmage running forward and leaping in an attempt to block a field goal or a point-after try lands on other players on either team. The penalty is not called if the defender was within one yard of the line of scrimmage at the time of the snap.
@@joshuaguenin9507 I forgot about it being called leaping... :/
They had to nip it in the bud because it was getting trendy impacting the game
0:35 Ben's face 🤣🤣
Running into the kicker is not rare.
4:40 no announcers? What even was the penalty?
leg whip
@@joshuaguenin9507 I can't see anything. I've never even heard of that call.
@@ARandomInternetUser08 it takes a while but is called
@@ARandomInternetUser08 Look at 5:27 and you can see the center #61 whip his leg up after the snap to try and slow down the rush.
14:15 where's the penalty?
Center flinches

"Penalty"
I meannnn, if Boswell would have been able to pull off that kick, it would've been just as epic as Pat McAfee's onside kick to himself, lmao. I didn't know it would have still been flagged for an illegal kick tho. I don't see why it would've been illegal if he was kicking an onside kick. I mean, yeahh.. maybe let the refs know ahead of time you're about to do a "trick" onside kick. But other than that.. would've been brilliantly epic if he pulled it off, lmao.
it was illegal because he kicked it twice. after the original kick has happened the normal rules apply, meaning you can't kick the football.
He did once with that strategy and it worked
@smartyheadysyoutube3399 Ahhhh, that makes complete sense in that case!! I was wondering why it was called an illegal kick. I wasn't paying attention and didn't see him kick it twice. I just thought they said the whole set up from start to finish was illegal, lol. Thanks for clearing that up bud!!
@fitzwilliamedwards2411 Did he?!? I'm gunna have to look that up because that would be cool to see!! I can see it easily working because nobody would ever be expecting it to happen. Like, you can expect a lot of different things to happen and expect an onside kick in a regular kickoff formation. But, nobody would ever be expecting that, lol.
4:01 that's a penalty? Really?
I don't get the kicker penalties. Can't you tackle them so they can't kick?
no, they are protected when between the tackles
Kickers in the act of kicking are defenseless and highly vulnerable to leg injuries if their kicking motion is disrupted by a tackle. Very easy to tear an ACL by straining their plant leg during a kick
My vid the NFL has gone soft. Used to be a personal combat game now it’s a bunch of silly and over the top BS rules.
Roughing the kicker because you made contact but didn’t touch the ball? Yeah it’s not like he’s doing his damndest to keep your mitts off it. I can see blatantly running the kicker over but sheesh you even bump them now and it’s at least 5 yards.
Leaping?
Climbing over the line?
Going low?
WTF
Clipping isn’t really a rare penalty tbh
9:49 How can 'kicking a ball out of bounds' be a rare penalty??? I haven't counted, but out of the hundreds of games played each year, that penalty probably happened in at least half of the games if not more. And in a lot of games, it happens more than once. 😮
The title is "NFL Rare & Random Penalties #3", so Random applies to this play.
@@steveaustin2686 Not rare nor random. Especially since the rules evolved three times from 1974 to 2011. Each time the competition committee has changed to rule to benefit the receiving team to prevent a kicking team from kicking away from the vaunted returners.
@@donaldholderdoc2910 🙄 "Random Penalties" covers any penalty the YT creator included, i.e. whatever they felt like putting in the video.
@@steveaustin2686 Are you seriously coping to that as your end game???? "Anything the YT creator decides to include"??? What kind of Golden Parachute is that argument. Like saying "It's my ball and I make the rules or I'm gonna take my ball and go home" . Come on, you can at least try to be a little bit more intelligent than a 5 year old on the playground.
@@steveaustin2686 Give me a break! Are you seriously copping to that as your final answer? "Whatever the YT creator writes in his/her post is real because they said so"???? Like saying "It's my ball and what I say are the rules are the rules or I'm gonna take my ball and go home" wah, wah, wah. 😭 Tell me you have something more intelligent than a 5 year old on a playground throwing a temper tantrum. 😂
13:38 really? That?
Giants had a leg whip and crackback. Did they crack that whip? 🙂
Didn't know being dramatic and faking a kicker penalty was a thing!
11:04 trying to draw a penalty? He was hit. He wasn't faking shit.
The new Rams uniforms are gay.
Totally not cool. I only watch highlight videos of the NFL anymore. This woke $hit has got to stop someday!!
Why gay as an insult?
🗣Are U Not Entertained?!?!?! I'm 42 years old & for literally as long as I can remember, fans have clammered for an Any Given Sunday league, well "Buckoooo" you got what you wished for.....We have never seen a season where this many top tier teams have literally been predators 1 week & prey the next 🤷🏾♂️......Legal sports betting has changed the game for better/ worse, but it it will never be the same. There's no way you can tell me thst a referee doesn't know that a holding penalty here, a strange penalty there is what I call drive killers that take it from 2nd & 3 to 2nd & 18
