- This video is just like my video on uncommon NFL penalties: highlighting the penalties in football that do not get called often.
The first clip made me especially upset as a Florida Gators fan.

Florida is 8-18 in SEC games since the shoe throw game. We (LSU fans) still troll them for this every year!

If a bench gets 2 unsportsmanlike fouls in a game, does everyone get ejected?
I was actually just asking myself the same thing. If the bench gets two unsportsmanlike penalties in one game and consequently gets ejected, does the team automatically forfeit the game?
It’s definitely amusing to think about, but Rule 9.6(a) limits elections for two unsportsmanlike conduct fouls to “[a]ny coach, player, or identified squad member in uniform”.
If the bench gets ejected, everyone has to stand.
I once tried to tell a soccer coach I was showing a yellow card to the bench, which was absolutely not the right thing to say. The guidelines are clearer now. Card the head coach.
How about if the crowd gets two unsportsmanlike penalties?
The head coach gets ejected. You do not want to feel the repercussions of that

I'm a Gators fan too, man. It's the shoe throw and the 4th & 17 play from this year that really irritate me.

I appreciate the specificity. On some level I imagine he was impressed by the distance if he mentioned it in the announcement.
Perhaps it is only a five yard penalty if it goes under 10 yards?
That Mizzou penalty changed a rule. That’s how crazy that call was.

Now if snap goes over the punter’s head, roughing the punter can no longer be called.

"Throwing the player's shoe 20 yards down the field." I love the implication that if it had only been *15* yards, that'd be okay.
What's weird about the throwing cleat thing is that this has happened multiple times in college football
10:16 that is the right call. Even after a bobbled catch, if the ball is still in the air the kicking team has to give the returner the opportunity to finish the catch. Once 23 touched the ball it was interference.
Another way to say it is the kicking team has to wait for the ball to hit the ground before they can recover it.
On another note I really hate when the announcers don't know the rules. They're doing an incredible disservice to the fans.

There's a player called James Maloney that did it many times in rugby league. I think they changed the rules to stop it. You can search James Maloney shoe thief to see him do it a couple times. It's more annoying in rugby league because it can be thrown into the crowd and they don't stop play for you to get it back.

The FIU one at 10:24 was actually the right call. If a fair catch is given an opposing player cannot touch the ball unless it hits the ground.
I can't see when the ball touches 23, it looks like it just bounces over him. the only time it looks like it hits anything is when the receiver bats it up. I guess it might have been called because 23 hits the receiver's arm while the ball is still in the air, but I don't think 23 hit the football itself.
Florida blew their chance at a potential CFP appearance all because someone thought throwing a shoe was fun

6:13 the same foul was called against Tennessee on a kickoff during the Bama game. I believe both happened on the same day.
I’d love to have video of when I was in college. The drum major of the marching band ran 15 yards out on the field to argue with the ref. Lol😅

An acting head coach (probably either the OC or the DC) takes over.
The announcers were cringe talking about not having anyone to serve as the "offensive play caller." I came up with four competent candidates off the top of my head and have since realized that I could have done more.

False start on kicker would either be -
A. He got antsy and wanted to kill the play before it snapped.
B. It was a 4th and 1 fake and kicker was early on snap count. Usually snap to holder, hand off to kicker. They’d never admit to this, tho.
He gave nothing away by running a straight line into long snapper.
The kicker, once set, can't move toward the line of scrimmage until the ball is snapped. It doesn't matter if it's a kick or fake.

LSU vs Florida: Ref got the penalty itself (the flying shoe) correct, but i don't think number 11 was anywhere near the scene
Florida vs Utah: Exactly why the sports with smaller team rosters don't let multiple guys wear the same number (NCAA rosters allow 85-plus guys)
At least two games including Kentucky vs Missouri: Running into/Roughing the kicker is to kickers/punters what Running into/Roughing the passer is to quarterbacks

Iowa were robbed. There is no way that moving your hands below the waist to tell your team to stay away from the ball can be construed as a fair catch sign. Since Colorado State fans appear from the commentary to have had a warning and 2 Unsportsmanlike penalties, should they not be ejected? :p
Any waving motion is illegal, to avoid confusion. Just do not wave your hands if you are about to return the ball.

Agreed. You could easily pop an ankle if you get rolled into like that. I think they just thought it was funny cause top kickers are trained to go down quick for both safety and to sell the call…but this guy just sorta fell like a bad animation.
As for the play-
Where’s the blocking?! And impressive hook given where his plant foot lands.
@@jeffrey.a.hanson Yeah, I think the reason he fell like that is because he tried to keep his balance while people were rolling around his ankles for as long as he could. So it's ironically the fact that he doesn't act that gets him accused of acting.

If this helps anyone, as soon as a player makes it personal when complaining about a call, it’s a flag. Just don’t use words like “You” or other second person words

So if the NCAA made a new rule and that play legal, it means that it was illegal before, so it makes it the right call. Not sure how your logic works.
idk the new rule, but I'm failing to see anything wrong with the clip still. The punter was punting the ball and got, by definition, roughed... Did they outlaw bad snaps or how could any rule apply here that wouldn't ruin a punters chance at recovering from a bad snap? Obviously the punter is going to attempt a punt, since they are fairly useless at anything else.
@@sirsluginston Fully agreed, he's legally punting that ball and the rule protects a player who does that, case closed. Might understand the frustration if it's just a "running into" situation that still gets called under those circumstances, but here a very defenseless player got absolutely creamed.

Why is going over the punting shield a penalty?
Hurdling.
It's one of those player safety things; trying to save the player jumping over the shield from breaking his own neck.

That first penalty is so monumentally stupid, it makes you wonder if something was up with the game. LSU eventually lost! That, if I were LSU, is investigatable.
That second one, you had multiple UC's on Coastal Carolina. As I keep saying: SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET BACK TO THE HUDDLE OR SIDELINE.
The next two: You make it clear any more of those and the game is over. That's already probably after a warning against the fans to begin with. (as the announcers noted in the CO State-AF game, and, no, the "DJ cannot spin" in Colorado-Stanford... In fact, I'd probably have pulled the "Three Blind Mice" and removed the PA announcer from the contest)
I would've actually gone upstairs and awarded the touchdown under an Unfair Act on the Washington-UCLA tripping. That was a flagrant trip, so add a toss to that on top of it, and was feasibly the only act which could've prevented a touchdown -- I'd call this Rule 9-2-3-c, not covered by another act, as the foul is the only act to prevent the score.
RTK: The protection zone for the kicker goes backwards the entire length of the field. That's why the RTK is called.
Iowa-Minnesota: In college, there is no separate penalty for an invalid FC signal (2-8-3). That's what was called here because they ruled (and I think ridiculously, because he's clearly directing the other Iowa players from the ball) the waving of the hand was a FC signal.
RitK: Does not need to go down. Under the rule, simple displacement from their initial position is sufficient.
KCI: He gets one yard in front of him, width of the shoulders. However, by NCAA rule, when in doubt, it's a foul (6-4-1). So, to the announcer: That was probably a "when in doubt" call.
In fact, under the second replay, two players KCI on the play. 15 and 23.
The next one (Alabama -- and the later Georgia one): Was that outburst also flagged? Since you have an official upstairs, they should be allowed to buzz for a UC for language.
The moment you have to ask "Why? And why?", start asking about some other uncomfortable questions too. That leaping penalty (Iowa-Nebraska) was just moronic. He's not going to make the play.
UC for throwing the shoe: Should be automatic ejection. That should NOT be "one of two for ejection". He does that, especially with those spikes, he spends the rest of the game in the locker room in my book.

So you're telling me if I go to a road game and sit with the home team, I can start throwing shit and cost the home team an unsportman like penalty. Sounds like a road trip to me!
Seems like a lot of work just for some fans to come Attack you, ain’t worth it.
It's the responsibility of the home team to provide a field suitable for the game. If security is unable to prevent the throwing of objects onto the field, by any spectator, that responsibility is breached, and the home team can be assessed penalties of forfeit. I was at a high school game where an entire section of bleachers was kicked out for object throwing, including people from both sides. Each side was pointing at the other, and security just said, OK, everybody's leaving.

The illegal batting of the ball penalty is stupid. Clemson player knew where they made contact was the down spot, it’s not like they were trying to push back their opponent further. Why is that even a penalty??
Rule 9-4-1-c. No player shall bat other loose balls forward in the field of play or in any direction if the ball is in the end zone.
You're supposed to grab the ball to down it. Taking possession of the ball as the kicking team ends the play. Touching the ball does not.
Really could've been called a delay of game penalty. At the end of the day the batting penalty didn't matter since they just placed the ball at the point of contact.

I feel like a team getting a penalty cause of the crowd or cause of the DJ is kinda BS if you ask me but I get it what else do you do.
I believe the rationale is that it's the home team's responsibility to keep the crowd under control in their stadium.
