I have never seen anyone who understands rock/ metal like Justin Hawkins. He knows when to be serious, when to be self-deprecating. He knows when to be heavy, when to be melodic and balances all the necessary ingredients with perfect grace. Absolutely unrivaled. I would give anything to watch Freddie Mercury listen to the Darkness for the first time.
You should listen to Blind Guardian. Their lead singer has the same vocal range that Freddie had, and they even named one of their albums in honour of Queen.
Completely agree and very well put. Although not sure about the "Blind Guardian" comment, two completely different bands....can't hear the similarity myself.
Comparing Blind Guardian to Queen is like saying Dream Theater sounds like Aerosmith. Listen to other bands, get out of the prog-space for a couple hours.
Joannether Nice moves! You seemed a little shy in the beginning but with the sunglasses on you really shook it like a lettuce leaf!:D And Justin should've used the stripey catsuit to match you and others ^_^
Last week I asked my son to come over to help me move some heavy items from the basement…anyway, I heard him singing under his breath…”children, we are the last of our kind.” I was floored. I asked him why he was singing it and he said “it’s one of the songs I remember you playing (I actually played the whole cd nonstop) all the time and it reminds me of some of my favorite times when I was growing up. 😢 It shocks me because that was a time I was really struggling as a single parent to pay the bills and keep food in the house. To know that it was one of his favorite times validates that I was doing something right. All three of my kids love The Darkness and that was one year y’all really got us through some rough times.
This is a masterpiece. This stuff is infinite. What a riff, what a vocal part and lyrics, what a guitar solo, what a voice, what a genius. One of the last rock band that deserves to be classified as real Rock Band nowadays
I will never understand why this song didn’t take off as one of their most popular. It’s so anthemic. I wish they played it live. I’d pay stupid money for them to whack it in the setlist
"All the jackals and the undead just can't wait to wipe the last of us out Once there were others like us then there were none Late at night while the world is sleeping I can hear the call of my kin They wait for me and when I join them we will be forgotten" some of the most poetic and sad I've ever heard in a song

@@Kingofold2112 same here! Justin is the Freddie of our generation! I would LOVE hearing the Darkness cover Bohemian Rhapsody! Justin would really nail the guitar solos and falsetto parts!
This is fantastic! What an amazing song and video. I just tried to sing along to the high part (failed miserably) and my head nearly exploded. Justin's vocals are outrageous. What a banger!
There are so many good Darkness songs but this might be my favorite. It's so melodic and really brings me back to my happy place growing up in the 80's. I swear to God if you close your eyes and just listen to the solo it's so remensicent of Vito Brata. It's just fun music and I love it.
Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Mark Knopfler, Bob Dylan, Joe Satriani, Black Star Riders, Europe, Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock, UFO, Scorpions, Neil Young, Jeff Beck, Van Halen, Toto, Hollywood Vampires, Chris Cornell, David Gilmour and offcourse The Darkness has released a new studioalbum or a live-album this year. The new album is fantastic - the soundtrack of my summer of 2015. I love their great sense of humor, but they are really a kick-ass rock band. Best live band I've seen in years, going again in October, can't wait.
Loving this tune! The Darkness are a cracking band. Seen them at Leicester O2 Academy a couple of years ago, they played permission to land start to finish. Needless to say it was a great night. Genuine British rock royalty imo :)
Great moves there Mark! particularly like the vest fling and 'where's it gone? ?' reaction. Brilliant. Decent song too smashing to see the darkness back on form
@@glitchy_boi1461 this is way better than Freddie. The guy is a great frontman (same as FM), but he’s lead guitarist and, above all, can do a whole concert SINGING. When Queen played live they had to dropped the songs, and Mercury simply can’t do a full concert at full power.
It makes me really happy that he still has the outfit he's wearing during the solo! Bring it back to the live shows for a massive hit of nostalgia please!
Emily did a great job on this record but Rufus is the perfect addition. A great new record from the best band in the universe. I never get tired of these guys.
I've seen a lot of shows, but put it this way, the two times I've seen The Darkness were better than Megadeth & Iron Maiden in Nashville a few years ago. That says a lot. If TD is near you or far away, don't miss out on the chance to see them!
this song rumples me with '80s nostalgia !! takes me back to seeing Rocky4 in Guildford odeon & cheering.. Could keep going... Brilliant, olde style... thank you TD xx
