You need to equalize the pressure inside your ear. You need to equalize even before you start the dive. this is done through training. there are many videos (Valsalva and Frenzel techniques) you can watch or you can go to a diving school for better results.
what kind of training/exercise do free divers go trough to hold their breath that long? guess you need really great stamina for oxygen uptake, but also training your muscles to burn low amounts of oxygen?
FYI: The bars you see in the bottom of the hole is not a cage. It's a cave that is said to lead to Vouliaghmeni lake and I believe this to be true because once you reach it's level there is a massive stream that pushes you on the bars. The bars are actually broken on the right side as you face them, as you can see in the video. Some say that some divers have died trying to get to the lake but I don't know if this is just an urban legend. If anyone knows, please enlighten us..
you are right, 3 americans and 1 greek scuba divers have died around the early 1970s, i also think that there's a documemntary out there in youtube that is telling little bit of the true story. By the way, i ve heard that the dead divers were found
As far as I know the 2 american divers drowned during 70's are still in the cave. Only part of their equipment was recovered. The reason they drowned - and the reason that the entrance of the cave is restricted with iron bars - is that inside the cave the stream is so strong that once entered you cannot exit the cave unless you are properly equiped. In the video you can momentary see the stream "sucking" the diver inside the cave when he is very close to the entrance.

This is normal for free divers. In 2012, German freediver Tom Sietas held his breath underwater for 22 minutes and 22 seconds, besting Dane Stig Severinsen's previous Guinness record by 22 seconds. (Although Guinness still lists Severinsen as the record holder, stating he hyperventilated with oxygen before his attempt for 19 minutes and 30 seconds.
These don't really count because they breathed pure oxygen before holding their breath. I mean, it's still impressive but it's a different competition. As for the normal static breath holding, the record is around 10 minutes, if I'm not mistaken. Consequently, if we add movements, this time is reduced to like5 minutes I think.
I know a lot of people can hold their breath for this long and most people in the comments are arguing about this, but the amount he is moving he would be using his oxygen up very fast. The cameraman most likely shared his oxygen with the diver.
He holds a Guinness World Record for free diving... google him if you don't believe the footage is real.... first thing I would check before posting like you guys all did anyway! Watch his presentation on diving at TED Toulouse 2013 for exactly how he manages to hold his breath and the mental control he has to have the entire time. He is incredible :)
This was awesome. Would like to hold my breath that long and have the same experience underwater. It looks so relaxing and gives this feeling of being free.
it's possible. I was doing some relaxation exercises and you start holding your breath for some seconds and continously increasing the time. I think I was able to hold my breath for nearly four minutes without feeling the need for air. if you practice I believe you can do it.

1:16 I panicked when the guy came up

When he bumped into guy then he gave him the finger it looks like.
That's entertainment for ocean lovers! Thanks for sharing.
Hey 👋
I know a lot of people can hold their breath for this long and most people in the comments are arguing about this, but the amount he is moving he would be using his oxygen up very fast. The cameraman most likely shared his oxygen with the diver.
Lucid that, or I was thinking they just took a lot of separate shots between going up to the surface to breath.
Cizz Shizz No way
his lungs could explode if he take air under water from a guy with an air container
Cizz Shizz what's his name?
Lucid he had something in his nose that he could breath into
Excellent work...!!!👍
Well, how did you hold your breath for so long, what is the name of practice.... please share...
This is how my parents claim they went to school everyday.
😂😂😂
I dont even know how to swim how will i hold my breath for 20 seconds in water 😂😂
Just when I thought this guy could go no further , he just made me hold the breath I did not know I was hold😱
very hard to holding breath in undersea water am i right guys
Yogesh Yadav not rly
Holding breath underwater is much easier than on land cuz there is something that get's trigered in ur body that preservers o2 when u can't breath
practice will get you there, I can hold for 100sec 15 ft
Yogesh Yadav yh but he had gear
Yogesh Yadav wat the fuck was ur first clue dumbass
Priya S Where is the brething gear? on his friend?
When I look this man l say I want to live in the water 💧
Super cool. That kind of courage is crazy to me. Serious diving chops to even pull that off. Super cool
I'm amazed at how long free divers can hold their breath. I get to 30 seconds and panic.
So did they when they started. Maybe a minute for the genetically gifted. Getting up to 3 or 4 minutes requires a lot of training.
@@ElSantoLuchador true. Although I've been practicing and rarely make the minute mark.
Ian gone lie when that other man came out dat bih I jumped😂

Philosoraptor omg god wtf is with you I know what the fuck it is

Look's like something I'd find at a shipwreck in Assassin's creed IV Black Flag.
