I used to lime at Grand Central back in the day... back then Curepe was pumping..... now with the crime situation in Trinidad people no longer come out after dark
Look at that building in the very opening of your video. It is probably 100 years old and for most part of that period has been tenanted. It would seem that not a cent of the profits derived went back into the property to modernise it, NOT A CENT!
You are so right. A lot of history in just that intersection alone. Unfortunately we do not value our history and do next to nothing to preserve it. It is horrible the way we refurbish old buildings outfitted with modern and contemporary fixtures and other hardware diminishing ALL historical value.
I grew up at number 43. We were next to Jays restaurant and bar. Miss Ali store was by the corner of Harris Street and Boye's restaurant was on the other side. Good old days. Childhood memories of Boye's restaurant ,,Boodram, then Jaysing, us with the soap and oil factory, then Karaisha and Khayam Mohammed, then the Pierres, then at the corner was a place that was always fixing old trucks. Oh my choildhood went by so quickly and now all these places have disappeared. Who remembers slim and boney the two salesmen at the corner shop after. I still can remember the night i fist heard a gunshot when that shop was robbed and the owners daughter was killed on that fateful saturday night. Hey my friends Pat, Ashram, Khayam, Babes and Khan boy, inraj says hello. Long time no see.
